League of Light: Dark Omens Collector's Edition

As a member of the League of Light, you're tasked to investigate what's happening in Sorrow's Well after an ally asks for help. Indeed, it seems that someone is trying to resurrect the Dark Lord! Will you save the world before it's too late or will a new era of darkness begin anew? League of Light: Dark Omens isn't really what I will call a recent game: it was already out in the casual world before making its way to Steam. It doesn't mean however that I would ignore a game belonging to a well-known series on Big Fish Games, albeit it's not the most renowned. The plot itself is quite common: a Dark Lord defeated centuries ago (or maybe not) who has still allies trying to bring him back, a damsel in distress, an investigator without gender (you can imagine yourself as a woman - a badass one) and eventually a final rush where you have all the time in the world, though it's fun to see that as usual, before really defeating your enemy, you have still many things to do. But despite a common plot, you can find it enjoyable as it's also a way to discover more about the world of League of Light. The gameplay is also the usual: find objects, use them, clear hidden objects scenes, solve puzzles, talk to anyone you'll find though in this game, you don't have many characters. Nothing is really extraordinary but I found some hidden objects scenes quite challenging, mainly because of some English words I'm not used to and because of the hidden items in an hidden objects scenes (meaning twice the work). The puzzles are easy though I welcomed the included strategy guide as some of them were just... how to say... not my cup of tea and brain-frying. The graphics are decent and the soundtrack nice but well, I wasn't really paying attention: maybe it's the fact that I didn't find the castle intriguing enough, like the mansion in the House of 1000 Doors for example. As it's a Collector's Edition, it means goodies: wallpapers, bonus chapters, in-game achievements, etc... Anyway, my final opinion is that League of Light: Dark Omens is a decent game, though you'll find many others way more interesting in Big Fish Games catalogue or even on Steam *cough*like Artifex Mundi's games *cough*.

This was a lot of fun. It's an older game, but high quality, set in a wonderful fantasy world (in a no surprises but makes you smile at all the tropes kind of way). There's a dark lord rising, and only you can stop the world from returning to cursed slavery under his dominion. I hadn't expected to enjoy myself so much! Pros: - nothing really special story-wise, but feels complete - customize the level for extra challenge - the right number of interesting and moderately challenging HO scenes - a variety of puzzles, a few that are challenging - nice art, perfect for that old school D&D - er, fantasy - vibe - interactive map that shows you rooms where the collectable item (owl) has been found (nice and clear) - enough back-tracking to be interesting, not enough to be annoying - you can interact with the whole map throughout - things that make sense generally work; some items can be used more than once - items in HO scenes are not "hidden" in darkness or brown colours Cons: - only in-game achievements (but decent ones with a bonus for collecting all) - lower resolution (but full screen worked fine) - limited music - no bonus chapter and little in the way of true bonuses (can't replay scenes / puzzles etc) [b]Overall:[/b] I liked it and found it very well made. It has limited voice acting, and isn't a "collector's edition" in terms of what we're used to 4-5 years later, but it was fun. I would (and will) buy it for my friends and family who enjoy these games. A great game to play when you're looking for "comfort gaming" (if you enjoy fantasy settings).

Seems someone is mucking around in the Dark Lord’s castle. Might be trying to bring him back. Dreadful guy. Do check it out, and stop anyone trying such foolhardiness! Plot is decent, HO scenes are fun, minigames entertaining, and the art is beautiful. Recommend getting in the bundle.

Overall, pretty good run of the mill HOG. Artwork is pretty. Story: While I'm not super happy that it's another damsel in distress story overall, there was some interesting world-building and a nice twist. Gameplay: on the easy side, but fun enough Unlike other CE games, know that this one doesn't have a bonus chapter. Verdict: pick it up on sale if you're a fan of the genre.

A decent hidden object game, but I found the artwork a little on the dissatisfying side. Fans of the genre will likely play it and enjoy it, and for the mostpart so did I. Hidden owls in every screen, lots of screens, lots of puzzles to solve. Once again, a bit too heavy on the figuring out what to do with things you can pick up - I enjoy the search scenes more. Typical fantasy story, but the goblin got a good laugh out of me. In almost every new screen he's making problems - collapsing stairs, making walls of ice, animating fireplaces... but it's almost comical how quickly he has to make a new hurdle for you. And then to find out later... well, I certainly [i]thought[/i] he was panicking. I find I can get overly critical very easily when playing HOGs, but really, I think the only thing this game needs is a graphics overhaul. Great for kids, or anyone needing to unwind, but be sure to get it discounted - I played on Advanced and didn't really have any problems, so it's quick to finish by a seasoned hogger. * Has in-game achievements, even if there is nothing tracked by steam.

Seit langem das beste Spiel für mich...es stimmte wirklich alles...Die Story ( ok..Englisch..kann man aber trotzdem verstehen ) die Musik, die Rätsel..nicht einfach nur Suchbilder..also alles in allem..ein sehr gutes Spiel!!

Wunderbares Spiel von der düsteren Art. Blau-, Grau- und Weißtöne herrschen vor. Trotzdem wunderbare Grafik, alles klar erkennbar, viele schöne Schauplätze, interessante Aufgaben. WB toll gemacht. Alles dunkel gehalten, trotzdem zu finden. Z.T sind das schon richtige kleine Minispiele. Alle möglichen Arten werden gespielt. Minispiele sind diesmal wirklich ohne Hilfe lösbar, obwohl nicht so leicht und liebevoll gestaltet! Inventar läßt sich feststellen, Tipp lädt schnell auf und die Karte zeigt aktive Bereiche an und transportiert auch. Dieses Spiel hat wirklich keine Fehler, spielt sich schön flüssig und logisch und ich empfehle es gerne weiter!

The game was alright.

Not a whole lot of characters to interact with but the narrator is a fun listen throughout the game and I enjoyed finding all the little creatures to deal with. The villain goblin was a cool little guy too (would be cool if he showed up in the later games). Main story ending felt underwhelming but the bonus story ended on a more complete note. Puzzles were decent and hidden object scenes were mostly a type where you ‘find x to use on x’ which is a nice change up from other HOGs I’ve been playing. Overall a good start to the series. I did have an issue where I alt-tabbed out of the game too much and had to hard reboot my computer to force close the game since Task Manager couldn't force close it. So be careful there, a bit annoying but no progress lost.

I love this game so much. I played it as a child and now found game again recently. I highly recommend other games from BigFish. I realy like the style of these creations ehehe. Гейм-дизайнерам руки целовал
