Reviews
I had a read of some of the reviews for this game and thought I'd drop my two cents. Seems a lot of people are just focused on the direction the parent company is going in the future vs. the state of the game. For me personally: I think the gameplay is very enjoyable, I enjoy the customization on a number of different levels and the interactions that the unique items and forging brings to the game. Visually, I think the game looks great! I think that the engine is not the best and there is some occasionally choppy gameplay, but for me doesn't detract from the beauty of the world, and how impressive and impactful I find most of the skills and abilities. The systems in the game take a long time to uncover fully and sometimes they are not very well explained, but I think for me this only added to the depth of the gameplay after a few hundred hours there was still more for me to learn/discover. I invested hundreds of hours into grinding Diablo 3, and I would say that this is maybe the closest representation I've found to that gameplay (far moreso than the current state of DIV) and is something that I can pick up and play for an hour at a time and enjoy it or playing for an entire day. The offline mode this game has, puts it in a tier above for me for playing on handheld and travelling - bad on steamdeck (more based on the engine than the specs) great on Legion Go 2 Z2 Extreme Last Epoch for me scratches a lot of itches and I believe the game is a great balanced middle ground between the smoothness of DIV and the complexity of POE/2 I'll caveat this whole review by saying that I will be disappointed to see this game head down a path focused on profits over serving the community (where I think most of the devs would probably align) but right now I think the game is fantastic.
是我在玩游戏还是游戏在玩我?腐化装备不是坏掉就是把合成的词条移除,非要恶心人?
Another krafton classic.
They sold out to Krafton. Judging by the announcements made since, it seems to me like Krafton is intending to make that money back ASAP, by breaking promises the devs made about the monetization of the game. Apparently they're cashing in on the good reputation that was build by the devs. Here is to hoping that everyone, who agreed to this sale, always has a hole in one of their socks that fits exactly their big toe. Always.
Seemed cool when it first launched. Now there's a whole entire shop on the Steam page, not to even mention what's in the game. Sorry, I don't prefer to buy my games one overly priced percentage at a time.
Solid game. Duplicitous and greedy developers. You don't get another red cent from me.
To lie or not to lie? That is the question...
This is a great base of a game. But it's still not a great game yet. As other reviewers have pointed out, the main story is not finished, but we're getting seasons with new features and peacemeal dribbles of the main campaign. To be fair, the story isn't... A+ material, but it feels representative of how the devs approach this game. So if the main story isn't complete, how is the "post-game"? I'll describe it with comparing to Path of Exile's endgame: Path of Exile: A casserole with 20 different ingredients that somehow shockingly meld together. And even if you don't like one ingredient, you can use the chef's tools to take that ingredient out and replace it with more of the others! Last Epoch: A casserole that's all noodles, ham, and cheese. You can add salt or pepper, maybe add a little more ham or cheese, but that's about it. It's good at first, but underseasoned and there's only more ham casserole all the way through. This is understandable, PoE has been cooking a loooot longer. And Last Epoch has some great things! The crafting is excellent! (Mostly.) The skill trees are a great balance between complexity and creativity! (When they're balanced right.) It's really pretty! (Which I'm pretty sure why it takes so long to get minor updates to this game.) But you can't have both a not finished story and a meh endgame. PoE has an alright story but excellent endgame. Grim Dawn has a a meh endgame but a great campaign. Diablo 4... exists. So... I guess in the end, I'm still hoping that they finally nail one or the other here. You can see I've played this plenty. There are some great bones, and it's a good game for playing while listening to streams or such. But in the end, I guess I would direct you elsewhere until one of the devs actually finish cooking.
For me Last Epoch is better than D4 and PoE but to each his own. I sink 4 or 5 hours a night into this game without even realizing the time went by. If you liked Diablo 3 you will like this. My favorite part is every single skill has it's own skill tree of customization so all 5 skills that you can equip at a time can be customized and theyre not just small customizations, for example on Necromancer (Acolyte) you can customize each minion, bone golem for example can be customized to have more hp/armor, can be a fire golem, ice golem, your golems hits can inflict bleed or poison, your golems hits against enemies that are poisoned turn into armor for you, your golems hits can leech hp to itself and you. Thats just skill tree for 1 minion but like I said every single skill has its own tree with branching paths. So in theory 2 people with the same class and same 5 skills in use can have completely different looking/acting playstyles. The bosses are WAY harder than any Diablo 3/4 offered, later bosses have multiple phases, really cool looking late game bosses too like a Lovecraftian style tentacle monsters that have like 5 different 1 shot mechanics, but the game never feels unfair and you can respec as much as you want. Also I should go into more detail about classes, at around level 15 each of the 5 classes have 3 masteries you can choose from. So again I'll use Acolyte as an example, with Acolyte you can choose between Necromancer which is a pure summoning minion class and you get access to a bunch of different minions each with their own pros/cons, next mastery is Lich which I've never really dove into but it a transformation class with a lot of DoTs and spells that do massive damage at the cost of your own HP, Lastly and my person favorite is the Warlock which is a pure damage based mastery with minion use, you can throw out giant spells that create fissures in the ground that spirits come out of and attack enemies and with the Fissue customization you can make the fissure poison so any enemy that stands on it get an instant poison DoT, than theres DoTs that you can cast out that will jump from enemy to enemy and again you can customize it to where if an enemy dies from the DoT it doubles it's damage when it jumps to the next enemy and that stacks up to like 8 times. Theres so much more I could go into but honestly it's worth just playing for yourself, it's so much fun, it's like if PoE didn't have the annoying complicated gem/socket and passive tree system. It's my personal pick for best ARPG on Steam right now.
