www.mkaugaming.com Retro, who can ever have too much retro? Games like Last Encounter always send me back in time, back to the old gaming days. Simple yet affective. With its twin-stick style gameplay I always think back to the first game I played in this style Smash TV. If you know this title, you have my respect. You are Subject 12A and have the choice of 4 synthetic bodies, two male and two female with different attributes according to your gameplay style. Your quest, Humanities Preservation! You are walked through the beginning of the game by Dr. Daniel Connor in a tutorial style sequence. Getting to grips with your new body and ship. The ship has three elements you can modify to create mega weapons of destruction. With its retro style graphics and sounds it adds to the feel of these weapons on use. It is top down in nature, but a lot of work as gone into the graphics and the feel of old and new mixed together. The sound effects of this game of typical of the genre but are well implemented. There are plenty of weapons, power-ups and modifications to unlock as you progress. All with their own flair and style. The game can be unforgiving at times, but that is the nature of the game. That hardcore feel to gaming, no holding your hand. But you do start to sense you become overpowered. Making the game lifespan short. It has so much potential but does not deliver it as well as it could have. But I respect the hard work and effort that has gone into the development across the board. The price is low compared to many, but still may be a bit too high to tempt people to try the title.

Very fun, addicting, and memorable. The core gameplay is fun and rewarding.
It's dense with content, zones to explore, bosses to fight, enemies to run away from. Running away from enemies is exciting and fun in this game, and is a pretty effective way to progress too. The weapon mods system is intriguing, but it seems like not enough mods drop for me to properly revel in the chaos.
Last Encounter : By Triple F "Last Encounter", a frenetic twin-stick shooter developed by Exordium Games, throws players into the heart of a desperate struggle for survival against relentless alien hordes. Blending roguelike elements with ship customization and fast-paced action, Last Encounter offers an experience that is both exhilarating and frustrating in equal measure. The game's narrative, while light on details, sets the stage for a desperate fight against an overwhelming alien threat. Players take on the role of a pilot, tasked with piloting a heavily armed ship through procedurally generated space sectors, collecting resources, upgrading their vessel, and ultimately facing off against a powerful alien entity. "Last Encounter's" core gameplay loop revolves around intense twin-stick shooting, demanding precise aiming and quick reflexes. Players navigate their ship through bullet-ridden landscapes, dodging enemy attacks and unleashing a barrage of their own. The game's strength lies in its diverse arsenal of weapons and ship modules, allowing for significant customization and experimentation. Players can choose from a variety of weapon types, each with unique firing patterns and damage profiles. Additionally, ship modules offer various defensive and offensive capabilities, allowing players to tailor their ship to their preferred play-style. "Last Encounter" embraces the roguelike philosophy, featuring permadeath and procedurally generated levels. While each run starts fresh, the game offers persistent upgrades that unlock new weapons, modules, and pilot abilities. These upgrades add a sense of progression and encourage players to keep pushing forward despite inevitable failures. However, the reliance on permadeath can be a source of frustration, especially for players who struggle with the game's high difficulty. The game's visuals, while presented in a classic pixel art style, are surprisingly vibrant and full of detail. The diverse alien landscapes, coupled with the constant barrage of bullets and explosions, create a visually chaotic yet strangely captivating atmosphere. The sound design further complements the experience, with booming sound effects and energetic music that perfectly capture the intensity of the combat. "Last Encounter" also offers a local co-operative mode, allowing players to team up and tackle the challenges together. While the added firepower can be helpful in clearing enemy waves, the chaotic nature of the gameplay can lead to unintended friendly fire and increased difficulty. While co-op adds a layer of social engagement, it might not be for everyone. The games strengths lie in its frenetic action, diverse customization options, and charming pixel art style. The roguelike elements add a layer of replay-ability, while the co-op mode allows for social play. However, the game's high difficulty, permadeath system, and occasional issues with friendly fire in co-op can be frustrating for some players. All things considered, "Last Encounter" is a challenging and rewarding experience for players who enjoy fast-paced action and the thrill of the roguelike genre. The game's diverse customization options, coupled with the constant challenge of permadeath, offer a compelling loop that encourages experimentation and mastery. However, the high difficulty and unforgiving nature might not be for everyone. If you're looking for a chaotic and challenging space shooter with plenty of replay-ability, "Last Encounter" is worth checking out, just be prepared for a wild ride through a galaxy of bullets and frustration in equal measure.
EDIT: The developers have fixed the (already minor) complaints I had, and the game is better for it! If you like roguelikes and/or twin-sticks, I still highly recommend it! I played this game for the first time on stream yesterday and enjoyed it thoroughly! I've had some time to digest the experience now and have a couple minor complaints that others have already mirrored in their reviews: - credit & health pickups disappear a bit too quickly - there's no way (that I could find) to see what passive upgrades you have once you pick them up - no online multiplayer, but that's probably a nightmare to include so I won't complain about it too much That's it for the bad bits. The rest I really loved! The roguelike elements are enjoyable. You can't just fly around and shoot things, you have to pay attention to what's around. Enemy spawners, enemy health regenerator ships, and vicious lasers are all there to make you pay attention and think rationally rather than just going with a spray & pray mentality. The black holes in the first galaxy bend bullets (but not beams!) and can throw you and enemies around to either help or harm you. The second galaxy is full of poison clouds and spike traps that make you rethink how you maneuver and attack. I didn't get past there (bad at this game) but I'm sure there are more interesting ideas in the following galaxies. AND to top it all off it's got local multiplayer, which promises to make everything more insane! I really appreciate Exordium Games sending me a copy to show off, I'm sure I'll be playing a lot more both on stream and off!
https://youtu.be/PsqHa2sl8UI Low variance in levels, weapons, and enemies results in a generally flat design scope with limited depth.
good game all that is mising are more endings
