About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

This game is very good, the usage of AI and the studio being problematic definatly suck. i cant help but to recommend it despite that. flight dynamics feel good, tonnes of qol imorovements over any flight sim and beautiful graphics and attention to detail all at 36 gb is pretty crazy.
Overall the game is good. It could use a few more or better tutorials
so far i like IL2 Korea very well. I was concerned that motion and FFB is lacking at first. But with editing the cfg i can get prober Motion for my DofReality H2 and with a direct Input Profile for Moza Cockpit all works very well. Have a Quest 3 wich delivers also good graphix. I have an Ryzen 9 and 5080 setup. Makes really fun from start off.
Thought i would give it a try instead of purchasing another DCS map. Went through all the setup etc just to find one server that did not show 0 people with only 13 players online? Yeah ill give it a hot minute....
I'll say this: I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long time. In my opinion, this is currently the best simulator out there. I remember the thrill of first launching the original IL-2 or F/A18 Hornet. If you really want to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a military aviation unit, the atmosphere of real air battles, there's simply nothing better. I liked the visuals, the music, and the accessibility of the menu information. You can read about all the planes and vehicles without leaving the game and compare everything. And most importantly, there's both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. I've been looking for something like this in simulators for a long time, but it's just empty. It's either some arcade or a simulation sandbox with no real objectives. But here I found what I was looking for. This is amazing. The commander's career is simply amazing. And the multiplayer is enjoyable, just like in great battles. And all this for the price of a single plane in other games of this genre. Mind-blowing. It's been a long time since I've seen such a pleasant combination of innovation and tradition in a simulator, or even in games in general. Overall, I recommend it.
AI is still pretty dumb honestly. Give the wingmen a simple order and sometimes they do it sometimes they just wander off like the radio wasnt for them. Good flying but fighting your own squad gets old
_________________________________________________________________ Моя система / My PC Specifications:OS: Windows 11 (64-bit) CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 (32 GB) RAM: 64 GB Storage: 3 TB SSD VR Headset: Meta Quest 3
If your a flight sim fan and like the idea of flying in the early jet age then this game is for you. If you have a strong pc and can max out most of the graphic settings (cant comment on VR as I don't use it) then graphically its stunning and a real treat to see and experience. The new career mode is a departure from the career mode from great battles as in its more hands on as you now get to command a full squadron although if that's not your thing then you can automate it all if you so wish and just fly the missions. The career mode has a good atmosphere with newspaper updates on the progress of the war etc. There are a few issues though. The AI could definitely use some improvement especially when managing your AI flight members, The combat AI can be quite be passive as well but I'm sure improvements will be made here. There are also a few nasty bugs, the worst offender being when you skip the mission to the target area your engine can shut down due to an issue with the fuel system. That's happened a few times and and its annoying as you have to cancel the mission. The career could also do with more balancing as once you have successfully flown a few missions you have more than enough requisition points for fuel ammo etc for the squadron so the squadron management just becomes busywork with no real challenge. The pilot awards points system also needs more balancing as there never seems to be enough point to go around although if this is by design I'm not sure. The worst part of the career would be the GUI. There is no currently no squadron leader board where you can see at a glance who has flown how many missions who has the most kills etc. As squadron commander you must allocate awards to pilots to increase their skills. Its not so much an issue early on when your squadron is small in numbers but once you have dozens of pilots you must mind numbingly click through each individual pilot screen to give out the awards and to see their stats. Even the great battles career system had a squadron leader board so its beyond baffling why there isn't one here, hopefully one can be added in. The career missions can also become repetitive as it looks like the career mode only generates combat when you are directly over the front line. I'm one of those guys who like taking off and flying the whole mission but when you know you will never encounter aircraft until the target area I feel less inspired to fly the while mission and just use the skip to target area option. Hopefully there can be a bit more randomness added in. The post mission debrief is also a step backward from great battles as in great battles you have the ability to review the whole mission to see where planes and targets where shot down or destroyed whereas we don't have this feature in Korea. Would be also be more interesting if AI squad mates had some kind of fatigue levels you had to manage, would add a bit more depth and challenge. Cant comment on multiplayer as I'm a single player guy but that option is there as well a single campaign as well as a quick battle generator and mission editor. Overall I'd give Korea at release a solid 7 outa 10.
