The game has an interesting premise but I believe the loading times and the disease mechanic brings it down. I was enjoyin' the game till what I thought was a fire started killin' my villagers etc. Turns out it was frickin' diseases. I have no idea how to control that. I couldn't get out of the stone age as a result. To make matters worse the game took forever to load both at the start and after setting up the game world etc. Those will have to be tweaked imo. I wanted to see it all thru coz I am still intrigued but patience wore out at that point. Who knows it could have been me not playin' the game correctly. Will revisit at some point. I wanted to like it but the lag is unbearable! There is a day and night cycle that goes way to fast and most of the graphics ( land and water) never load in, i had fish just floating around in the sky. its a very rough game and shouldn't be in early access yet. maybe after some updates ill try again but for now hard pass.
Its early access yes, I know but when the game won't even go past the first loading screen.... Something needs to be fixed.
Kingdoms Rise and Fall is a real gem in the world of early access real-time strategy games. From the moment I jumped into the game after the latest update, I was pleasantly surprised by the significant improvements it had made. Long loading times and frustrating drops in frame rates seem to be mostly fixed. The newest update worked wonders to address these technical issues, making the overall gameplay experience much smoother. Diving into Kingdoms Rise and Fall, it was impossible not to think about the classic real-time strategy game like, Empire Earth. With the way you can research and train many different units and buildings across eras. This game manages to capture the essence of real-time strategy in a pretty unique way, even though it may still have a few rough edges. It holds the potential to become a remarkable addition to the genre, infusing fresh life and excitement into it. In Kingdoms Rise and Fall you start in the what seems to be prehistoric era, where you start as a primitive tribe, engaged in the primal activities of hunting and gathering. The map is teeming with various types of resources, some seemingly useless at first but gradually becoming invaluable as your civilization evolves. It's not just the resources; the game world is also alive with diverse and formidable enemies, including rival factions. Initially, the AI left much to be desired, but thanks to the latest update, it has become significantly more responsive and now launches full-scale attacks or defensively manages its units, which adds depth and challenge to the game. The wildlife also plays a crucial role in the game. From bears and wolves to elephants and more, these creatures not only pose a threat but also provide sustenance for your growing civilization. The delicate balance between survival and expansion is truly captivating. One of the standout features in Kingdoms Rise and Fall is the naval gameplay, reminiscent of the classic Rise of Nations. Units effortlessly transform into boats when crossing water, simplifying navigation. This feature leads to epic naval battles, including massive ships like triremes and even battleships. The progression through time is awe-inspiring, taking you from spears and clubs to modern fighter jets. While the game may encounter some glitches along the way, the sheer variety of units and the AI's utilization of them is commendable, offering endless strategic possibilities. Despite being an early access title, Kingdoms Rise and Fall surprises with its depth and content. There are hundreds of different unit types, even if some require tweaking for balance. The expansive maps provide hours upon hours of gameplay, with exploration being a key element. You could spend three or four hours in a single session and still not uncover the entire map, a feat not often seen even in AAA RTS games. It is a pretty demanding game surprisingly. Possibly not optimized very well as I have a 7th gen I7 with 16gb of ram and a 3070, and was still having issues later in the game. So obviously still has some bugs and optimization to iron out. The potential of this game is there, and is a fun play already. It has been a great find offering a pretty good real-time strategy experience at an incredibly reasonable price point. I recommend it to any strategy enthusiast and will continue playing and standing by for future updates.
i waited for 20 minutes trying to load a world and my game just crashes do not buy this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game
not recommened to play. YET :) . needs more work. maybe they could add a reset camera angle like backspace key the camera angle bugged out for me and couldnt reverse it. also maybe a learning feature didnt know how to age up for a while ai got way to adavanced in tech wise so i lost detail of the game is ok villagers bugging out is a problem but so far is a good game just needs more updates. looking foward to playing this in the future. :)
Needs work, and i mean A LOT of work which unfortunately i will have to give it a negative for until its polished properly Performance wise, lagspikes happen a lot and sometimes games dont load. Camera feels like it floats, and controls are awkward Loads've glitches which is expected in an EA title. World color makes it hard to distinguish which team is which UI is basic and i mean very very basic, big and ugly. The title menu could do with a lot of work to be more appealing. Concept of the game is good, but it definitely needs more work done to it. If done right, this could be the next Rise of Nations.
It has graphics. Aside from this, it is still exceedingly unpolished even after a year and a half in Early Access. Trying to select buildings is a nightmare if you build them too close early on as they will clip through each other later. Some buildings have an unreasonably large collision box whereas some have barely any. Units, all units (not just citizens/workers) will automatically exit idle to either work or attack something with no down-time so you will frequently find units straying off on their own and getting themselves killed by unseen enemy or wildlife. Water doesn't render properly. Mini-map is poorly oriented and doesn't display either the correct player colours, nor camera orientation. Resources have absolutely massive collision boxes and are harvested from a fair distance meaning that it's hard to tell which resources your workers arbitrarily decide to collect once they've decided they've had enough of collecting whichever one you tell them to.
At it's current state the game if rough but i recommend that you keep an eye on this title .
dont buy, game is unplayable. freezes on creating.
