About
Roman Triumph is a survival city-builder / colony-sim set in Roman times where you must lead your people, build a city from the ground up and fortify it with walls, ballistae, archer towers and other Roman defenses to survive against the hordes of Barbarians, ferocious Hydra, Minotaur, Cerberus, and other mythological beasts.

In order for your city to thrive, you must keep your citizens fed, safe, healthy, and happy. Strategically designing your city in this randomly generated world will improve your empire's chances of attracting new citizens, increase your resource and food production efficiency, please your gods, and maximize safety during attacks.

Throughout the years your settlement will get attacked by increasingly dangerous Barbarian armies from the North as they attempt to invade and pillage your land. Even worse, as you grow you will disturb the habitats of mythological beasts such as the Hydra, Minotaur, and more.
To survive, you must raise an army and build walls, towers, ballistae and other types of defenses to fend off enemy attacks. Progress through the research tree will unlock increasingly powerful defenses. Eventually, you can train an army of legionnaires to take the battle to the enemy.

Roman life revolves around the Gods. You must build temples and comply with their rules or they can quickly become hostile and ruin your crops, send devastating lightning blasts, infect citizens with deadly diseases, start horrible thunderstorms, or send beasts to destroy you.

Trade, hunt, gather, build crop and animal farms, create resource production lines, establish order, provide healthcare, offer entertainment, build defenses and much, much more!

Around when I first caught wind of this game I played a rather decent bit of it before I decided to sit back and wait. I liked the gameplay, but the game had plenty of features that still needed to be implemented. So I continued to watch updates, and at first I was quite pleased. Over the months, features kept coming every so often. The 1.0 update was sudden, and odd, but I thought nothing of it at the time. It was made clear that while the game was considered done there was still plenty of work to be done. It was weird to take it out of early access when the game was still missing features, but I decided to continue to wait. Surely by the time I decided to have another go at the game it would be more feature rich and ready to go. Roman Triumph's last update was in September of 2025, with some news updates here and there. Suspiciously, there was no news regarding updates mentioned ever again since 1.0. Not when the developer asked people to nominate his incomplete video game for an award, not when he made a new year announcement. Seven months later post the 1.0 launch and there is no news, no updates. Not so much as a hot fix for any current issues has been published. While, yes, the points to meet were technically hit on the roadmap... they're still not finished. The only biome added has been the desert, and there's not been much in the way of enemy additions either. The research tree is still incomplete, and many other features are labeled as such as well. Keep in mind, back when I bought the game is was being updated every month to every 2 or 3 months, with small patches and hot fixes in between and as I said before, there's been absolutely nothing since September. This is not a complete game. (And keep in mind, it's estimated the developer made anywhere from 300 to 650k dollars with this game. He certainly found a decent amount of success) Now, I could be wrong. It could very well be that the developer is planning one major update to add in a load of content and bug fixes and missing features, as well as even features that weren't originally planned. I could even wake up tomorrow and find update 1.1 with three new biomes added, all with their own challenges and enemies, the research trees fully fleshed out and completed, new mechanics to make it so there's only a little less micro. But I don't think that's the case by any stretch. I did use to defend the game for its difficulty, as that very much is a part of the point. But I don't think there's a point in defending the game anymore. TLDR; The game hasn't received an update in 7 months, major, minor, or hotfix, with no news or mention of an update since the 1.0 release in September. The game isn't feature complete, and I personally wouldn't recommend buying it if you expect to eventually get a finished product. Only buy if you like what is currently available and go in with the expectation that nothing else is coming. Even then, I'd buy on a discount.
I'm sort of up and down about which way to go here. It's not, bad, per say. It's just not good either. The graphics, responsiveness and general game play feel dated. It reminds me of Empire Earth quite a lot. The pace is VERY slow, and I know you can speed it up, but the amount of micro the game needs; mainly because of the insane worker management system means your constantly slowing it back down. Seriously, I utterly despise the worker management mechanic. It was designed, approved and implemented by a sadist to bring nothing but misery to every small child, puppy and cute fluffy innocent creature on the face of the earth. Actually, thinking about it now, I know which way my recommendation needs to go.
Not great. Wish I refunded when I had the chance. Nowhere near worth 25$
I had high hopes... But I don't anymore
