My brother created this amazing game! We used to spend countless hours playing similar shooters, and Kinetic Storm is truly a labor of love. It takes that nostalgic experience and enhances it in so many ways. With its smooth controls, inventive power-ups, and vibrant pixel art, it surpasses the classics we adored. It’s a perfect blend of retro charm and modern innovation, making it a must-play for top-down shooter fans. Whether you’re looking for quick sessions or extended play, it has that irresistible arcade feel that keeps you coming back for more!
At first glance this game looks like it might have something for you.... dont be fooled you will find out in less than 1 hour of playing that its its just a cool terd. THEIR IS ZERO SUBSTANCE TO THIS GANE... No upgrades, no other ships... you will be bored and upset within 1hr. I understand its Early Access but its been a while and it doesn't seem like theirs anything coming down the pipeline. 10 bucks for so little? I've had more fun with .99 games. Unless you like supporting indie developers that disappear on you..... try something else!
AI assets used, poor quality control and basic spell checking errors. All of the available content is experienced in less than an hour, there are 3 enemy types and 1 stationary gun platform enemy that spawn for 20 waves straight with no variation besides increasing the amount of them. Would not recommend in its current state, play something like Nova Drift instead.
For 69 cents It's a good time, Controls are easy
Played in Early Access, also played the Demo for a few runs. An excellent action game that brings to mind old bullet hell shooters but in a more free-form format. Select one of three main weapons, one of three secondary weapons and one of two auxiliary effects. Has three difficulty modes to choose from. That's enough variety for a decent amount of replayability, including certain more challenging weapon combinations. Graphics and sound effects are great for such a small offering, I especially like the way missile speed vs enemies has been balanced to result in swarms of missiles chasing enemies around the screen for an amazing spectacle. The controls are less janky to my fumble fingers compared to other action games. The slow acceleration of the player unit, compared to the instant movement from other action games, is more forgiving by making the game less about rapid fire input combinations or reflexively dodging and more about setting up a strategy and taking positional advantages.
It's early days but I am liking what I am seeing thus far. It's got a bit of a Furious Angels feel to it....
Let's Look At: https://youtu.be/vD_jYJLA884 This is probably the hardest thumbs down I've ever had to do and it's purely from a value standpoint. This game is actually really fun, its very well-made, tons of detail put into it and aesthetically I can't complain about anything here. I especially appreciate the attention to detail in the Settings menu. The problem is there's just so little to work with here. You got 1 ship with 9 combinations of seeings and thats it. The range of upgrades you for the ship don't really even seem to be all that wildly different either. And I'll admit that it COULD be a lot more than what I experienced, but it wasn't all that impressive. I just wish I had at least 1 more ship I could have played with,. One more map. Just *anything*.... I really want to recommend this game. But in my opinion, it's just not there. Hopefully soon though.
I love it and can't recommend it enough! I came across it a while back and thought it looked really promising. Now that I've got round to playing it I'm happy to say that it's fantastic! The gameplay and control system are simple but very satisfying and the It's a steal at this price too.
Very fun game, but also very shallow. There aren't very many enemy types, and there is one ship with a few different weapon choices. I finished the game on normal difficulty my 3rd or 4th run, total about 1 hour playtime. If you can pick this up for cheap and have a good time with it, then I would recommend it. If it's $5 or more and you only get one hour of playtime out of it, then I would say don't bother. It seems like the game is about 1/2 finished content wise.
A Survivors-lite shooter, no experience to gather during a run but instead a selection from among three options between each wave. There's no meta-progress either, so instead you have to treat this like a free-roaming shooter where you learn patterns and get better strategies for handling them. Choose one of three main weapons and one of three sub-weapons, the first of which can fire forever and the second being more powerful but slower, and you can take the game apart fairly easily on Normal mode. Even so, Kinetic Storm is a great little shooter where a couple of rounds act as a perfect buffer between larger gaming sessions or waste a lunch break blasting enemies instead of eating like a healthy and well-adjusted person.
