This is a great game! Nova Drift is essentially Asteroids—momentum based, single screen with wraparound—with waves of enemies, bosses, upgrade trees, and a techno-neon sheen. The game is laser-focused on a specific experience and does it extraordinarily well. Is it for you? Ask yourself these questions:

Do you like your space games with conservation of momentum? Do you dislike ones where the player is essentially a turret, stopping on a dime and turning any direction instantaneously? Were games like Asteroids, Gravitar, or Subspace your jam back in the day?
Do you like build-crafting and upgrade trees? How about unlocking upgrades?
Does the concept of a bullet hell game appeal to you, but all the ones you tried required a bit too much precision and memorization?
Do you dig games where you can achieve a flow state, where conscious thought fades and you just zone out, operating almost instinctually?
Do electronic music and pulsating lights help you enter such a state?
Did you ever hang out in arcades, chasing a high score?
If you answered most of those in the affirmative, you’ll dig Nova Drift. No technical issues to report, and really no nitpicks, either. If you are on the fence, why not give the demo a whirl?

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Ah, Nova Drift.. A great game, with great potential, and one that actually offered me a lot of fun. It was quite good until 1.0 came out to be perfectly honest here, and there's a reason for which I actually have whole 11 hours in the game, at the time of writing this review. Was the steering frustrating but unique? Yes. Were/Are the graphics and general art style absolutely amazing? That too. You also can't the deny just how many great ideas for bosses, enemies, all sorts of equipment like your own weapon, shields and body type there are, and this also includes the extremely wide range and variety of in-game modifications, also called mods that you can take to change how your ship behaves - More than that, there are also wild mods, drastically changing the whole game in many amazing ways, making it nearly completely unpredictable in a very good way, plenty of game modes and ways to have fun, like boss rush, endless mode, and so, soo much more. Really, I actually wanted to keep on playing this one, and I NEVER play roguelikes or roguelites myself, bullet hells I also don't, so this was a very unique and positive experience for me. Why do I still recommend you to STAY AWAY from this game and developer then? Well, that's pretty simple. Like I have said at the beginning of this review, the problem came when 1.0 version was being planned out during development by Chimeric and his incredibly toxic, and close-minded Discord community, fully supportive of, and almost never questioning Chimeric's decisions for the final boss of the game, and then, eventually, actually released later down the road. Chimeric decided to do the worst possible thing here - Close his game off from modding by creating it in GameMaker, and then moving it to GameMaker Studio 2 I believe it was called, making it even harder to modify the game in any way you wanted to, which the community would have had absolutely loved to do for many different reasons - What that was, was just a bunch of excuses from his side, supported by that close-minded, incredibly toxic community of absolute hardcore players, all sitting tight and closed together in one, tiny Discord server, where any sort of valuable insight on why the Star Eater, the current final boss of the game, was a horrible idea and concept right from the beginning. The Star Eater makes the casual player have nothing to look for in this game, as it requires an absurd amount of something that's not even skill, but highly specific builds that invalidate all the other ones in the game, and pure, dumb luck, even with the predictable patterns of movements and attacks, since Star Eater can easily cover the whole screen with it's massive body and also force you to maneuver vertically between it's body parts too. Once again - No amount of critique would get through to Chimeric, the developer, and yes, I am calling you out by name here, if you ever happen to read this, whether you care for this review or not, or regardless of whether you even see it in the first place or not either, and all of it would just be addressed by making the boss take 200% more damage or have people be told that this a "skill issue" if they can't fight the thing, which is a completely nonsensical claim to make - Skill has NOTHING to do with horrible game design, and it can not, and never will be confused with "skill issue" or just the amount of skill a player has in your game. Basically though.. Just stay away, unless you have the patience of a saint to not get frustrated once you get to the end of the game - And don't be surprised if Star Eater shows up more than once in an Endless mode run, because yes, apparently, that was needed too.

Thoroughly unremarkable, albeit visually pleasing. Nova Drift is a game derived from Asteroids with its velocity based movement and wrap-around. The game's artstyle is more reminiscent of Geometry Dash with the simple vector-like spaceships and simple procedural animations. Looks good. Has the advantage that visual clarity is easy to achieve. Game does none of that however. It's another typical roguelite game in the sense that game-design takes the backseat to the developer having had fun while developing it. Color palettes used entirely at random. Constantly losing track of where my ship is. Projectiles having the same color as mine. My own "constructs" having the same color as enemies. Way too many particles and bloom to make out what is going on. It's your run-of-the-mill stuff. Roguelite elements are again a big "but why?" element. Constantly being interrupted by some menu that doesn't control seamlessly at all compared to the actual gameplay breaks the pace. First time I tried the game I completed a run in 22 minutes (i.e. killing the final boss). I did practically nothing that would warrant a victory: I just clicked on upgrades that would do the work "for me" and ooga booga'd my way through. I fail to see how this constitutes a good challenge to anyone. Sound design is nice, albeit a bit minimal, Missing some punchier sounds for explosions. UI looks good enough, even if the use of space is suboptimal for almost every window I have seen (take a look at the screenshots on the storefront to see what I mean). Just a completely unremarkable game in every way. Not designed well. Typical roguelite clumsiness. Looks pretty and sounds alright.
I've been playing video games for over 45 years and Nova Drift is darn close to what I consider to be a perfect game. Brilliantly balanced, well paced, and lovingly crafted, every time I see or play another roguelike arena shooter I usually think "that's cool but I'd rather just play Nova Drift again" and I do, then I get sucked into another two, or five, or ten runs. It is a must have, must own game that I have gifted to several people and I regularly point to it as a masterpiece of the genre and a masterclass in design decisions.
