Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 3.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Just Cause 2 was special. it never had aspirations to be more than a fun b-movie game with lots of stunts and explosions and in every way, is a delight. Grappling to basically anything, pulling the chute to start flying and using the grappel to pull yourself along is fun, but also when applied to quickly hijacking vehicles, or surfing atop them, the pure act of getting around is just fun. Story is not much to write home about, but works to get to the fun action locations quickly and ramp up the explosions and the limited destruction and overall i prefer PLAYING this story over JC3 (havent tried 4 yet) aged well enough graphically, but doesnt look new either.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

This game is deeply stupid and pretty repetitive but damned if it ain't fun as hell. Also worked with proton experimental just fine, no tweaks needed!
It a is a long time, since I played JC2, but after playing JC3 more recently a lot of memories came up, so I had to give this game a praise. While JC3 was amazing in its own league, JC2 is kind of special, which I can't quite explain. Everything in this game is much simpler and toned down. The world is massive and you can cause a lot of destruction and chaos, collect a bunch of stuff, capture dozens of places, follow the storyline. But I think what stands out is that: if you decide to actually not Just Cause, but instead take a step back, take a deep breath and just look around, explore and discover interesting places, this game becomes such a pleasing balm to your soul. The massive world is beautiful and totally worthwhile to roam around, without any goal. It doesn't even matter what vehicle or biome you enjoy, because there is everything for everyone. Simply grabbing a bike to cross the desert or a plane to reach the mountains or a boat to go by the jungle rivers felt so relaxing and calming. Maybe it is the kind of old school eerie visuals, maybe it is the refreshing audio of the landscapes, but the game feels like laying on the ground on a sunny day and just watching and listening to nature.
I remember the anticipation around this game and looking at low quality screenshots with my friends. The sense of scale in this game is crazy, all these years later this 360 game still has one of the largest open world maps ever made. Having such a gigantic map did hurt the game design a little but that didn't stop the game from being a fun sandbox to ♥♥♥♥ around in PC port is old and often crashes though, i recommend looking up fixes before getting into this
much, much, much better than the first game. such a huge improvement. got my ass handed a few times cos of #skillissue but i still had a fun time nonetheless. seeing the credits was definitely satisfying after everything, ahaha. just wish it had better optimisation for pc
Quick Summary Story: Main missions unlock later based on Chaos score (earned via side missions & liberation). Gameplay: Open-world destruction and freedom make it very fun. Mechanics: Grapple-based gameplay with interactive hijacking and hacking. Technical: Holds up well, but may need small tweaks for stability. Overall: A big step up and where the series truly found its identity.

Just Cause 2 – Where the Series Found Itself
After playing Just Cause 3, I went back to Just Cause 1 and then started this and one thing is clear: This feels way closer to 3 than it does to 1.
Gameplay & Mechanics
This is where the series really starts to click. The open-world gameplay is all about causing destruction, exploring, and just having fun and it works really well. The grapple is properly usable and becomes the core of gameplay. Some small mechanics make it even better: - Hijacking vehicles has quick-time events, which feel satisfying - Hacking doors and objects includes small interactions These add a bit more engagement, and I’m not sure 3 kept them in the same way.
Progression & Content
Main missions don’t unlock all at once. Instead, later missions only show up after reaching certain Chaos score thresholds: - Earned by doing side missions - Liberating areas and causing destruction This makes you naturally explore the world, and with 300+ locations, there’s a lot to do without getting bored.
Traversal & Map
Traversal feels much better here: - Marked routes give proper navigation - Extraction acts as fast travel - Discovered locations become fast travel points You can also get helicopters early, which helps a lot.
Liberation & Exploration
Clearing areas can be confusing at first. - Destructible objects usually have red/white patterns - Common targets: fuel tanks, satellites, etc. - A wifi-like indicator increases when near objectives Once you get used to this, it becomes much easier.
Completion & Grind
I like going for 100% achievements, and this game is interesting in that regard. - Total locations: 368 - You don’t always need full completion for major progress-based achievements - Around 75% overall completion is enough for one of the key achievements That makes it feel more manageable overall. That said, this might be one of the first games where the grind for clearing locations really stands out. There’s a lot to do, but if you take it slowly over time, it feels doable.
Minor Issues
- No chain destruction like in Just Cause 3 - Collectibles for 100% can be annoying to find
Technical Note
If you face crashes: - Turn OFF “Broken Filter” and “Decals” in advanced settings
Final Thoughts
Just Cause 2 is where the series really found its direction. It takes the basic ideas from the first game and turns them into something much more fun and complete. You can clearly see how Just Cause 3 built on this and improved it further. Even today, it still holds up well and is genuinely fun to play and definitely worth trying.
Nostaglic game. Great graphics and gameplay. It has aged some but it is one of the best games in the franchise. The game would not start on windows 11 but there is a quick fix that you can find on google to remedy the issue. Takes minimal effort and then you are up and running. Be aware that you should disable the decals setting in the advanced graphics options as it can cause crashes when on. I turned this setting off and have not had issues since.
