About
JRoguePG takes the turn-based battles of a JRPG and combines it with a true Roguelike. From a seasoned JRPG developer, expect a robust and finely-tuned battle system that you will want to dive into again and again with the new classes you unlock, biomes you discover, and randomized equipment you receive during the run.
Evil plagues the world using fear and suffering to gain power. The world's only hope lies within a rift that opens only every decade. This rift allows four heroes to enter and attempt to battle their way to the source of the evil. Upon failure, a portion of the resources and any knowledge gained are left for the next decade's heroes to try again. How many heroes will you sacrifice to the rift in order to defeat Extol?
Unlock 27 classes including Ninja, Elementalist, Paladin, Thaumaturgist, Samurai, Hexblade, Battlemage, Lancer, and more!
Each class unlocks 3 class abilities other classes can equip
25 different biomes each with different themed monsters to learn how to defeat
Expect to use your brain to win battles. There is no mashing A to attack and win or an overpowered ability that kills everything
Randomized equipment chests, enemies, dynamic choice chests, and biomes
How you build your party matters tremendously with class composition and how you equip them
Use resources you gather in the previous run to unlock upgrades like starting with more weapon experience, more frequent rare chests, manipulate the randomized biomes, start with more gold, and more!
PERFECT for the Steam Deck!

If you want a JRPG game for the thinking guy or girl this is it. Great achievement!!!!!!!!!
Honestly something about this game just tickles my brain alot. Its not the fanciest, it has a bit of jank due to the quirks of using an engine designed for one specific genre and incorporating stuff from a different genre. and the mismatch of assets are a bit notable (especially the biome loading screens that just look like AI. It isn't though thanks for clarification) but dang does the gameplay formula just work so well. Being able to brainstorm team comps with the games's 27 classes, the various different equipments you can come across, and combat is always very engaging and difficult, never really feeling like you're just mashing a button to win even when you're decently far into the meta progression. The various biomes themselves are honestly done very well. The maps look very pretty and are actually fun to walk around in. It just plays real nice and its very fun and sometimes thats all that matters :) Shoutout to the art of the classes too, they look amazing not gonna lie
Game has taken over my life since getting into it. Big recommendation for any fans of turn-based combat.
Surprisingly addictive and fun!
It's basically a combat only old school RPG with roguelite meta-progression. I've put in a total of about 15 hours between the game and the demo. It's fun to unlock new classes and their active/passive bonuses, letting you experiment with new builds at ease. Having a diverse group of characters who can tank, use different attack types, spells, and healing is only the beginning, since there is 27 classes to accomplish that with. Or you could just run 4 berserkers and see how far it gets you. The only other game I can think to compare it to would be time break chronicles, which is a really good thing. Give it a try!
Really really interesting game, I need to put more time into it to discover more but I can tell it has the sauce.
In my opinion, a fun albeit difficult game. Or maybe I just suck at it. We may never know for sure... Edit: I have beaten it after more struggles, and I really liked the ending I got. I find this game very enjoyable, and would recommend it to other fans of roguelites and JRPGs.
I like it! Good game play loop, I'm having fun. Working on unlocking more classes right now but there's enough meat on this game to keep you busy for 20+ hours.
its a good game but its almost purely mechanics. the setting, characters, kingdoms are completely irrelevant. ame could be a time loop game and very little would change
i can already feel the heart in this
