Amazing gameplay loop, replayablity and a soundtrack that feels like it's too good for a small game like this. This is a PC game like they used to be
Jagged Alliance 3 — 32.3 hrs Played on: Windows 11 Pro (26200) · 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K · 128 GB · NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 · NVMe SSD My time: 32.3 hrs Fun 8 · Skill Ceiling 8 · Onboarding Tax 6 · Jank Tax 7 · Dad Tax 7 The Verdict: 7.5/10 — "Worth the sleep debt." Thirty-two hours into Jagged Alliance 3 and I'm still opening it up after the kids are down, which for a genre I thought I'd fully mined in a previous life is a genuinely rare thing. This is a mercenary-squad tactics game built by people who clearly understand what made the 90s original click and didn't try to reinvent it into something else. Turn-based, cover matters, positioning matters, and every merc you hire has a personality and a price tag that makes losing one sting in a way most modern tactics games don't bother with anymore. The sector-and-base layer underneath the combat gives the whole thing a strategic spine — you're not just clearing maps, you're running a small war with a budget, and that's the part that hooked the old RTS instincts in me as much as the shootouts did. It's not flawless. The AI has moments where it forgets how to be threatening — passive when it should be aggressive, occasionally suicidal into overwatch for no reason — and when that happens it's tempting to blame the game for a fight going sideways. It didn't. My positioning did. That distinction matters to me, and JA3 mostly earns the benefit of the doubt because the systems underneath are honest even when the AI has a bad night. No live-service nonsense, no FOMO calendar, no grindy tutorial gate before the fun starts — you're in a firefight within the first hour and making real squad decisions by the third. For a launch title in a franchise that's been dormant since I had hair, that's not nothing. Steam's holding at 89% positive well past launch, which tracks with what I'm feeling — this earned its shelf space, it didn't just rent it. 👍 — for anyone who came up on turn-based tactics and still has the patience for a real campaign.
great game! played the original when i was a kid. The last remake was bad, but this one is AMAZINGLY well done with great voice acting and gameplay 10/10 so far loving it
8 crashes in 108 minutes. crashed on startup, in the menu, mid mission. UI also soft locks sometimes. common fixes like -dx11, frame limits and window mode did not help. the 20 minutes i did manage to play without problems seemed fun. steam forumites insist it's my PC that's somehow bad despite playing through many highly demanding AAA games at high settings without a hitch
There are some bugs but overall this game is awesome
