Customize your warrior & select the preferred weapon class to prepare yourself for battle. Head out all by yourself or with a group in total of four and face rounds of enemies all around. Gain new skills, meet new people, but most important of all. Draw your weapon not for mercy but for victory.
The Game of The Play
IRONSTRIKE is a physics-based swordplay, gestural spellcasting, and archery, virtual reality game. Face NPC enemies alone or with up to 3 friends and choose your fighting style with up to six classes. Before heading into battle, you can choose your weapon class and walk up to each Aeon/Shrine God to have a look at what they offer. There’s four available Aeon's: one offer information, one offer avatar customization, one offer upgrades to the player, and the last one I did not get far enough to discover. But the game says there are five Aeon's, so there is one hidden one or disappeared. To purchase any upgrades or customizations, you’ll need a currency that is acquired from matches. Depending on how far you reach on the number of maps completed and the number of rounds dealt. The only way to return and use that currency is by getting eliminated. Weapon Classes
There are six classes of weapons to choose from:
Knight’s Broadsword (With Shield)
Lantian Glave (Spear)
Fang Blade (Two Handed - Heavy Class)
Light Crossbow
Kestrel Shortbow
Sorceric Wand
I know there is a possible way to change the look of your gear and give them special effects (which could be what the fourth Aeon does), but myself, I haven’t found it out yet. After completing a map/defeating a boss, you’ll get to choose a new weapon or even a new weapon class. There are rare chances of getting the option to choose another class when selecting new weapons for the current class. Minor Faults & Bugs Settings Tab Inside the settings tab, I've noticed one minor error. The same text displayed under “Seated Mode” displays under “Left-Handed” as well, simply using the same text. The stop turning when facing enemy doesn’t really tell how close to the enemy you have to be or when it will start working. But most of the time you, yourself, try and face them at all times. Combat Seeing the NPCs swinging their weapons in the air and using the momentum looks amazing, and doing so yourself works partly. You gain momentum, but if the enemy is too close or in any way interacts with your weapon before you’ve struck, it cancels the whole thing. And weapons colliding with other weapons. With enemy weapons? No. But colliding with your own? Sadly yes. I wished at least for the dual-wielding weapons like the broadsword and shield (This class can potentially give you two swords for each hand) to simply just collide through each other. And not touching each other and making that metallic sound. Or bashing your sword against your shield for intimidation. Save Data Sadly, it seems so that the data collected is Local on your PC, or basically, whenever uninstalling it, all the data is gone. And installing it again just puts you on a blank sheet. How've I known of this? Had to reset the whole PC (Windows being dumb) and cause it to need to redownload Steam and redownload most games. But here comes the question: since I didn’t redownload IRONSTRIKE, I could still play it, but it had the blank icon, and this is when the whole game got me back at square one. So just a little caution to everyone who plays this game plenty.
Visual & Audio
Visuals The look of the game isn’t too detailed in textures; it’s pretty simple but still looks good. And the point is not its textures; it’s the fighting. The physics for the weapons in this game is somewhat told somewhere above, but the weapons do carry weight and a physics-based handling. Maybe only weight and not the holding areas or colliding part, but with enough room to spread out yourself and your arms, I’m sure you can do some neat tricks or even have a good battle. (I kept hitting stuff around in my room, and my roof is way too short because of me being tall, so if I raise my arms all the way. Boom, punch the roof.) Audio Background Music The background music for the game is a mix between calm instrumental jazz/pop, Scandinavian god humming, and crystals. It's difficult to describe the music, but it’s alright. Voice Chat There are no settings for the voice chat since it's an open mic constantly. When you're playing multiplayer and join a hosting game or hosting a world, a player joins. Everything you say or they say will be heard, and there is no possible way of muting your mic or selecting which mic you are using. So be careful with that you’re saying while playing co-op in this game.
Pros and Cons

Pros
Gameplay
Weapon-Classes
Weight Physics
Armor & Helmet Customization
Skills & Upgrades
Music
Voice-Chat
Maps Cons
Enemy Constant Attacking
No Online Saving Data (Fault might be on my end)
Weapon Colliding with Own/Teammates Weapons
Weapon Handling/Holding Places
Voice-Chat

My final little thoughts
IRONSTRIKE is quite enjoyable with friends or simply in co-op, but damn, you will get sweaty after fighting. At first, it will be a bit difficult finding the right class that fits you, but eventually you’ll get there. And for those who have bigger rooms or, in general, are short. You’re lucky, since I’m not. Asking me, I'd recommend this game. It's a bit pricy for it in its current state, but I'm sure with some more work it will become better. Since all good games aren’t just completed, they still need maintenance. Sharpening and polishing in the long run. Long after its still finished. Rating: 7/10 A Knight in Shining Armor? No, Worse. Roger in VR
So why is this 20 on PC and free on Quest hmm
I Really like the game but you can just vibrate your hand with a sword in a Monster and kill it very easy... :( i love roguelikes! but this is also free on quest and i just feel like it needs a bit more optimizing and work... but when it does i will buy it.
This game is amazing, I played it with my friend for a 4 hour long session the first time we booted in up and loved the combat system. We got a good work out from playing. It's a really fun experience! The only problems we encountered which would be a welcome change is to change the grip system for holding weapons. I have hands that cramp easily when using the VR Controller grips and having to hold them for long periods of time while playing. If there was a toggle to hold instead of having to hold down the grip buttons in order to hold onto the weapons that would be fantastic and allow me to enjoy the game longer without having to take breaks to relax my hands. I would highly recommend this game to others as the combat system is very fun and it kept me and my friend entertained I just would like to see a change to the grip system or an accessibility option for it. :) Edit: Using HTC Vive Controllers so hopefully support for those in future.
手感不太好,最后把武器当锤子抡圆圈能随便赢,不好玩
great game and definitely worth the price. it has an amazing art style and good feeling combat with upgrades that really feel like they make an impact. but i do wish that i got some kind of compensation because the game is free on quest. but besides that the game is perfect
very fun, worth it, 1000000x better than free version on the quest store
It's so crazy to me that games like this have like 30 reviews just because so few people play VR games. This is actually a pretty good VR game with decent mechanics and player options. It isn't insanely complex but each weapon is varied and functions differently and it has the proper roguelite elements and progression. It's also actually pretty hard in terms of the combat mechanics. Playing as a caster has gestures which you can learn, playing as a archer, you can fire very quickly if you can physically do so. The crossbow is fun,. The big thing about Ironstrike is that you can break the enemies weapons temporarily by hard blocking, and that they have little steam vent looking markers when you fill the focus meter or trigger certain conditions which when hit do extra damage. With the right setup, you can really start laying waste to the enemies. There also are often multiple enemies to manage which makes it difficult and fun to play together. It also has the standard kind of permanent upgrades between runs and tons of cosmetics that unlock as you play.
if you've played ironlights, this game will feel rather fresh comparatively... TL;DR at bottom instead of both weapons phasing out when hitting a player or weapon, only the opponents phase out in most cases, however you do little damage unless you deal 'ironstrikes' to them, this is via gaining 'focus' over time or via 'heavy blocks' where you have to swing fast into their weapon. little gyser looking things will pop up, and you need to match the angle and hit near them for it to count. so the name of the melee game is heavy blocks then hitting those ironstrikes. as hitting them normally typically does little damage, and as you beat enemies youll get perks and new weapons that typically capitalize on ironstrikes... however, that's just the melee side of the game, there's also magic and archery. archery is just perks and such that let you deal more damage or reload faster or what have you, for example a perk that makes arrows curve a bit towards enemies, one that shoots multiple arrows, one that makes it do more dmg if you wait 4 seconds between hitting enemies, as well as dodging abilities to help stay away from enemies (They speed up if youre just running away) magic is rather interesting, casting spells is done via gestures, with lines showing up indicating what to do next, and you just move across the line from the correct side, selecting a group of spells, then a particular element, then a spell in that element, then doing the path for that spell. it's a rather unique system remeniscient of a pvp wizard game originally on quest where you draw the spell symbol, though i forget the name... a few gripes: freely swapping how you hold 2 handed weapons would be nice, instead of only a left handed option, as with polearms i tend to swap hands and shift them around depending on how im swinging. im using an index, idk the peripheral vision on other headsets besides the vive, but for some spells the lines pop up outside my vision, usually to the right or bottom, so unless its memorized im stuck hunting down the line for a bit which isnt ideal... also my right trigger click doesnt work perfectly, causing spells to 'cancel' mid way through drawing them. so having an in game option for 'pressing trigger counts as click' or something would be nice, though i assume this can be done via steam VR controller settings as well? TL;DR: fresh melee mechanics for those coming from ironlights, i feel its better than ILs combat but i dont see how this kind of combat could be put into pvp with only one side's sword vanishing. magic is a unique 'draw through the lines' approach and the spells feel powerful, though the effects could use work. hopefully the game keeps getting updated with new weapons/spells/etc.
in the most honest way I can put it this game feels exactly like what vr needed Extremely fun with very well made combat systems, enemies are animated by the dev actually playing the game and recording the movements so every fight you have feels like an actual fight and not just weirdly paced encounters The bow in this game feels perfect (which is all I need because I love bows in vr games so this gives it an immediate 10/10 for me) and the sorcery system may be one of the best ones I've seen in vr currently (but feel free to correct me if you know of others)
