About
Shape of Dreams is an action roguelite that blends hack-and-slash combat, MOBA-inspired team play, and strategic decision-making.
Journey through surreal dreamscapes, dodge swarming enemies, and break through each encounter with precise skill shots and quick decisions.
Play solo for tense, skill-based challenges, or team up in up to 4-player co-op, where different combat styles come together to create powerful synergies. Combine ever-changing skills and upgrades to carve your own path of progression, and face the dream world in a new way every run.
No two challenges are the same, and no single fixed build or strategy will always carry you to victory.

From swift close-range assaults and precise skill shots to wide-area attacks and supportive playstyles, each Traveler approaches combat differently.
Build around your chosen Traveler’s combat style and face enemies in a new way with every run.

When playing solo, dodge incoming attacks, land your skills with precision, and shape your build through the choices you make.
In up to 4-player co-op, combat becomes even more dynamic. When different Travelers’ abilities and builds come together, powerful combinations and explosive synergies emerge—ones that could never be created alone.

Use ever-changing choices to alter your attacks, enhance your abilities, and discover unexpected combinations. Even with the same Traveler, the build you create can lead to a completely different combat style.
There is no single answer.
Build your strategy from the options offered in each run, and take on challenges that may seem impossible.

The dream world is filled with new choices and variables every time you play. Four difficulty levels, distinctive boss encounters, and Lucid Dream modifiers demand different tactics and build decisions with each run.
Rather than follow a familiar path, try new combinations that match each changing situation. The more you play, the more powerful strategies you will discover as you break through the dream world in your own way.
The dream awaits.
8 playable Travelers with unique combat mechanics and upgrade paths
150+ Memories and Essences to customize builds and transform abilities
9 Lucid Dreams to twist difficulty in unique ways
50+ emotes & emblems to personalize your Traveler
8 worlds with handcrafted bosses, monsters, and secrets

I hadn't heard anything about this game, no advertising, no one talking about it, it just popped up on the top of steam one day and... it's amazing. It's almost perfectly everything I wanted in this type of game. I have since bought more copies for friends or encouraged others to get it. So what is it? Basically, think of a single player or co-op MOBA (think league of legends, DotA2, that kinda stuff) but without the lanes and instead it's set up as a rogue-lite with some randomized elements, some metaprogression and lots of unlocks. There are NO microtransactions, it's all unlocks from doing challenges in the game itself or metacurrency from playing it. The gameplay is fairly simple, you move around (mouse or WASD or controller, control options are very well done) and dodge enemy attacks which have proper telegraphing of where and when they'll hit, you avoid the attacks with dodges, movement and defensive/movement abilities, use your own abilities to kill the enemies off. Once a room is cleared, you go on a semi-randomly generated map with a variety of nodes on it with the nodes usually having special events on them, like this one has a shrine you can heal at, this other one has a miniboss with better loot, this one you can sacrifice one of your items to get a new one or upgrade it, others may be various shops to spend your earned currency in, that kind of thing. There are a variety of different challenges for each area, different enemy types, different bosses, some unique stuff, and a lot of hidden content like optional and hidden bosses if you want a bigger challenge. The luck mitigation is fairly good, though not perfect. You can choose to spend the metacurrency to let you select a specific spell or upgrade for your spells and it becomes free for the next 24 hours, so you can do multiple runs in a row with one guaranteed item. To unlock the item for this you have to beat the last boss with the item equipped, and doing so multiple times reduces the cost of picking it again in the future. The main thing about gameplay is you get up to 4 active spells to use and 1 passive ability, and each of the 4 spells has 3 upgrade slots for a variety of things which modify how the spells work. So for example, you can have a spell that deals damage in front of you based on your spell power stat, and upgrade it to trigger a series of fireballs when used as well, then have each time it deals damage to trigger another attack, and for all its damage to count as fire damage to apply stacks of burning on any targets hit. The upgrades interact with each other if they're slotted into the same spell, so you can do a lot of interesting combinations and get some silly builds going. As is proper for a rogue-lite, they absolutely let you break the game in interesting and fun ways. If you get the right parts, and put them together, you can make some ridiculous setups which completely alter how the game works, such as having an auto-casting shield that triggers when you take damage and automatically casts retaliatory attacks rapidly when you're hit, so that you want to get hit instead of avoiding attacks, so that your biggest threat is spaced out attacks that hit after your shield would go down. Each individual character has several different play styles, different abilities they learn, and a different constellation-styled set of passive upgrades you can unlock, so they do play fairly differently from each other, and can even be played fairly differently with two people playing the same character thanks to all the customization options available. Honestly... I don't know why this isn't a better known game. It really deserves way more attention than it has gotten. Out of anything similar to this, from Eversiege to Ravenswatch, this one, Shape of Dreams, is by far the best of the lot by a very, very large margin. Oh, also, anything you unlock in your game... also is available for your friends when you play with them. And they can help you unlock those same things, so it passively encourages you to play with friends. Either way, I highly recommend Shape of Dreams, especially with friends, but it's good to play alone as well! It does take a little bit to get used to the game, it has a lot more depth than it first looks, and they keep patching it to add new content. There's definitely a few hundred hours of very good gameplay available in here, and it's worth it even if it's not on sale.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 8.71/day in the week to Jul 30 → 14.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I don't often write reviews, but DAMN. This game is scratching an itch I didn't even know I needed to have scratched. Ravenswatch was a good game, it was fun. The game play was good, the loop was fun, the characters are good and it was overall a blast to play. The binding of Isaac: Repentance+ is amazing. The game is perfect, the items are perfect, the builds are perfect, it's challenging, it's so much fun and I truly enjoy it. Risk of rain 2 is my GOAT It is perfect in every way. Characters, check. Items, check. Builds, check. Sound design, check. EVERYTHING IS PERFECT. BUT THIS HOLY HELL! THIS IS PERFECTION, IF PERFECTION HAD A KID WITH ULTIMATE GREATNESS! This game is so much fun, it is so challenging and it is just overall perfect. The music, the creativity, the first boss fight, THE SECOND BOSS FIGHT (WHICH I HAVEN'T PASSED YET) It is all so amazingly done. It is a combination of all my favorite games, it scratches an itch that was so deep inside of me, that I never knew I had it. It is so bloody perfect, so addictive. I am 5 hours in, I played it ever since I bought it and the only reason I am stopping right now, IS BECAUSE IT IS 4 AM AND I NEED SLEEP! Goodnight Shape of Dreams. Play you in the morning again!
˚⋆✮⋆˚ 9.5/10 ˚⋆✮⋆˚ Current obsession. Characters, fighting style and everything is beyond magnificent. Nightmare mode is hard and supposed to be like that. Endless customization options for each characters whether with their skill trees or mid game power (memory) and enhancer (essence) options. You can either play as an support, tank, long or short range character and you can optimize each however you want. Like you play as a Tank but you can heal your allies during the game. Bosses are good, maps can be challenging even in normal difficulty. You can leave the game in singular mode and then continue where you left. On multiplayer it is up to 4 players and even you leave the game while they are playing, you an rejoin it if game continues. Only downside is sometimes, especially on the menu, FPS drops occur. Can be annoying even if you optimized your game, which my game crashed one time. Only two characters available once you launched the game for the first time but the more you play and do challenges more characters are available. Still tho, one of the best Roguelikes I played in a long time.
I can't in good faith write a positive review for this game. Combat is mind-numbing and very quickly devolves into button mashing, power-up balance is non-existent with plenty breaking the game entirely, and to top it off it's full of random difficulty spikes that can easily end your run and waste your time - the worst offender being the terribly designed end game boss that looks like Temu Lich King from World of Warcraft. Finally, the battle arenas are all miniature so you'll be staring at another loading screen every ~2 minutes. You've never seen so many loading screens in your life, no joke. If you're desperate for a game to play with friends and really, REALLY like roguelikes, maybe wait for a big sale. Shape of Dreams, to its credit, at least has a lot of variety, and that makes it a decent time waster. But that's about the most positive thing I can say about it.
Great build variety and fun runs. Stability and FPS also got improved since release.
