+The game is a major improvement over the average IRONCLAD game and dlc. +The game turned into an actural strategy game rather than just tactical, you have to plan stuff several turns ahead now. +The game puts a lot of focus on manouvers in line formations, which is a great improvement over the original. +/-The game does a partly good job with the new and improved Damage Control System. But it is lacking in some aspects. See details below. +/-The game is oddly catchy... I want to play more of it, but it's just so... unpolished or broken I never bother to play more than a battle or 2 at a time. -The game is not very userfriendly. (the manual is good however) -The game has old school and impractical controls, all camera movement is limited to the mouse. -The original Ironclad games had better steering and speed control. This one is just Hard to Port/Startboard or steady as she goes. -It inherites some/many of the flaws of the old games and some are made worse. -The map interface is akward. Also the game lacks an ingame tutorial "this is war, good luck" (the manual is good however) -Although ramming is a thing according to the manual, the result of ramming is little more than earrape. -The game includes "time of day" as a thing, but it does not include weather (as far as I have seen) -The mecanics of the games rarely work. (check below) -The soundeffect are lazy. There are many diffrent types of naval artillery and ships in the game, but they use the same sounds for eveything. There is only one "splash", one impact and I've only heard one type of gun sound effect... This is made worse with the game only playing one track doing battle for 1½ hours average. -The turn system is nothing but silly, you send a ship to go 1v1 but then puff the enemy has 3 more ships joining in or running away (cowards...) -Troops can move across the entire country in 1 turn... that's a march of nothing less but 1100mils +logistics, by train of the era, that would take 5 days straight with NO stops and along the coast line, ground units should move from city to city. -The H.L. Hunley plays no role in the game. It would be an interesting idea to deploy a mothership which could attack ships in port from a blockage position without a naval battle taking place. -Adjusting the settings will FÜCK up the game (mouse disappears) on both of my computers. -if you pound a lonely enemy ship, the enemy will run off scared and the battle ends... you'll be denied the pleasure of sinking them or even better, capture them. *over 3 attempted games. *The first naval battle run smooth with seemingly everything working as it should. While the next battle always has atleast one maulfunction. *The enemy ships either cannot be hit or take no damage on impact. *I have chased an enemy ship around for 1 hour and 20 minutes at close range with more than 140 shells flying at her with over 24% accuracy, not a single shell hit... the odds of that are (2.06 e-17)% *I have often encountered the enemy flagship takes 0 damage on impact. I have had 3 ships pounding the USS Buffalo (armed steamer), one at less than 100 meters with all shell types, no damage from SB 64 pdr. guns over the span of an hour... *If your shell counter reaches 0 on any shell type, the guns on the ship will maulfunction as well as in any other vessel in the following battles that turn, changing your shell type will NOT make your guns use onboard shell while they still fire. No splash, no impact, no damage... You are Salouting the enemy vessels in the middle of a battle while they are throwing very REAL ordinance at your vessels. *The game often needs to be reinstalled to work properly. It just loads, and loads, and loads and loads... open my Focking save already! I have americans to kill with their own guns. *I have seen my ships fire what I can only descripe as a Vortex at enemy vessels... I presume it's just a glitch in the animation as it seems like my ship fire cannons, fireballs, people and even other ships at the enemy... very interesting glitch
I Want My Money Back i thought i was buying a simulator set in an alternative history where the battles may have been won by the south or regular history by the north, the battles are nothing like the trailer showed them to be, i got all the ironclad 2 games on sale because they were dirt cheap.......... now i know why. there is no tutorial. no real training. prices for ship are outrageous. you start with little to no money. i uninstalled the game today because i just cant play DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

I love alternative history. In this scenario serious work with historical documents is visible. It was pleasant to me that developers invented nothing. Game very needs the mode of training or the training video. I do not like to read manuals. Surprisingly in a game very simple interface in the strategic mode. To occupy the enemy city it is necessary to drag the infantry there. Movements happen simply. We choose any unit and we click where to move it. If on the way of unit there are no enemies, then it will move. It is not worse than battle of the warships than in other games (Total War, Age of Sail, Distant Guns).
If you are into this era, definitely get this! It is a bit complex at first as there is no in-game tutorial, however the game does have a nice manual and there are plenty of helpful players on the forum that would be more happy to help you out. It is a bit basic in its functions, however it is a big step up over their other games. Ships, while simple in graphics are still beautifully modeled and in all delivers a great Civil War naval experience.
unhistorical. difficult to understand strategic level quirky interface. unrealistic combat.
There is no online tutorial for this game. The game play is virtually non-existant. The music is irritating (to be polite). Wish I could get my money back, Steam should be ashamed for allowing such tripe on their servers.
