Indie Game Sim, developed and published by Valadria, is an unusual take on the simulation genre that focuses less on spreadsheets and optimization and more on the personal journey of creating something meaningful. Instead of presenting game development as a clean, system-driven process, it frames it as a mix of experimentation, uncertainty, and emotional investment. You are not just managing resources or chasing profits—you are navigating the highs and lows of creativity, where success and failure feel tied not only to your decisions but to your persistence and mindset. The core loop revolves around designing small games using a simplified in-game system, releasing them to a fictional audience, and reacting to the feedback that follows. Each release becomes a learning opportunity, pushing you to refine your approach and try new ideas. There is a clear emphasis on iteration, and the game does a good job of conveying how improvement comes gradually rather than instantly. However, the underlying mechanics are relatively straightforward, and while they communicate the idea of development effectively, they lack the depth needed to sustain long-term engagement. Over time, the process of creating and releasing games can start to feel repetitive, with limited variation in how outcomes are determined. What sets Indie Game Sim apart is its focus on the emotional side of creation. The game introduces abstract elements that represent internal struggles such as doubt, pressure, and the fear of failure. These aspects are woven into the experience in a way that makes development feel more personal and less mechanical. It is not just about making the “right” choices, but about dealing with the uncertainty that comes with creative work. This thematic direction gives the game a distinct identity, offering something more introspective than most simulation titles, even if it doesn’t always fully explore these ideas in depth. At the same time, the game’s structure can feel somewhat fragmented. In addition to its management elements, it includes segments that lean into exploration and light platforming, which attempt to add variety but do not always integrate smoothly with the main loop. These sections can feel disconnected from the core concept, as if they belong to a different type of game altogether. While they break up the pacing, they also contribute to a lack of cohesion, making the overall experience feel less focused than it could have been. Visually, Indie Game Sim reflects its indie origins with a simple and sometimes rough presentation. The environments and character models are basic, and the overall aesthetic can feel inconsistent at times. While this simplicity may be intended to mirror the theme of small-scale development, it also detracts from immersion, especially when compared to more polished titles in the genre. The interface and visual clarity can occasionally make it harder to engage with the systems, reinforcing the sense that the game prioritizes concept over refinement. Despite these shortcomings, there is a sincerity to the experience that makes it stand out. It captures the feeling of creating something from scratch, dealing with criticism, and pushing forward despite setbacks. For players who are interested in the creative process or who have experience with game development, this perspective can feel relatable and even meaningful. The game may not offer the most complex or polished simulation, but it succeeds in presenting a different angle on what it means to make games. Ultimately, Indie Game Sim is a project driven by ideas rather than execution. It introduces an interesting concept and explores it in a way that is both personal and unconventional, but it lacks the mechanical depth and cohesion needed to fully realize its potential. It works best as a short, reflective experience rather than a deeply engaging simulation. Rating: 7/10

A must own for anyone interested into getting into video games. Good use of pixel art to get me in the mood to dream alittle bit which helps with the style of minigames out there. Surprisely awarding mechanic having to make little minigames to unlock items for ingame and the players lifestyle to improve their career. Does feel grinding a bit but it's worth it.

I´ve just starting playing but this is fun!! Sharing games to anyone, even if they don't have the game is a really cool feature. Keep it up!
DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review, if you want a full review, then please read better reviews then mine
Indie Game Sim is a game developed and published by Lost Decade Games, the same people behind A Wizard's Lizard The gameplay is pretty fun. You mainly design, test, and play a variety of platforming levels or games, and then publish your work on the market to make money to purchase additional assets to make your next game even better! Although it is incredibly basic, it is a interesting look at some of the things that goes into being a indie game developer and fun to read through the mock Steam reviews However earning money for additional assets for your games is a bit of a grind, especially considering you have to pay for every tile you place in your game which limits your creativity a bit and it's a bit unclear as to what your game needs to get a high rating (which is needed to get high sales/money) However Indie Game Sim is a fun game to play!
RECOMMENDED :)
