Hello! I honestly do not have the patience to write a more emotionally mature and in depth review so I'm going to keep it short so I can stop complaining and go get some ice cream. :) I have mixed feelings about the game itself. The story mode is mostly cutscenes. Chronicle mode is extremely grindy. The gacha system is quite a grind as well. Online is filled with cheaters and meta gamers plus people that are afk. The price for the amount of gameplay is a bit excessive in my opinion but I do understand the sheer amount of characters and moves included, so it's not that outrageous. The positives are that the game is intuitive to learn (though the CPU is annoying rather than challenging) and the sheer amount of playable characters is great if you want to customize your favs and use whoever you like. Not all characters are made equal, unfortunately. It is addictive though. Recruiting characters and building themed teams is kind of a vibe. The customization aspect with the uniforms and being able to pick arenas is great too. From a company perspective... I'm not a fan. They use Kernel as an anticheat so basically a company now has access to my computer and it could (not automatically will, but who tf trusts companies?) do whatever they want to my OS. Am I dramatic? Yes. But... is it true? Well, yeah. But... is it my fault for not paying attention when installing the game? Well, kind of a crappy take but yes? Okay, but... am I going to complain about it while giving my money to said company? Absolutely, I'm a gamer and therefore that dumb lol. All snarky bad jokes aside, Level-5 is also now using gen AI to cut corners and that just makes me find them more mediocre and question the quality of the games they release. Unless of course, the new games will be cheaper to reflect the lesser costs and time constrains of production. What do you mean no? All things considered, I'd be lying if I said that I did not have some fun with the game, but ultimately it feels like most of the playtime was going through cutscenes, repetitive matches and trying to get specific equipment to give to my main team. I'm not sure if there's objectively that much of a game to play. If there was an option for a mixed review I'd give it but so far I would say that if you are not a fan of the franchise already, and you dislike grind and paper, rock, scissors type of gameplay, maybe this game isn't for you. Or at least wait until it's on sale? Anyway, I monologued enough and I do want ice cream. The choice is yours. I advice you to consider the price and check some playthroughs before you buy. Have a nice day!
