Story Mode, online multiplayer... and that’s it? Seriously? No offline tournaments, no team creation — even RoNC had more options than this. Stop charging people money for a mobile game.
I can't play the game at all because of their Anti-Cheat system. I'm not cheating, I'm just using a Steam Deck. Even Proton doesn't seem to work with it. Please fix this so I can play the game I paid money for, otherwise I'm refunding it.

they removed custom teams, new hero mode, picking celebrations after a goal, formation changes and much more not worth it play the first one instead.
As one of my favorite shounen anime series from back in the day, the new title featuring the phrase "World Fighters" clearly signals an emphasis on arcade style combat action that just happens to involve a ball. The animestyle cel-shaded visuals are stunning. Animations for moves like the Drive Shoot and Tiger Shot, as well as defensive maneuvers that send opponents flying, feel dynamic. The match atmosphere from the audio and Japanese commentary to the animestyle soundtrack perfectly captures the nostalgia of the original manga and anime. After playing for about two hours, noticed significant changes in gameplay compared to the prequel, Rise of New Champions (2020) the action is faster, and chain combos are much more prominent. The mechanics governing the dribble versus tackle duels feel smoother and less stiff. Many exciting moments are presented as cutscenes or text sequences rather than playable segments. While it is a real treat for anime fans, personally feel it might be less appealing to neutral gamers. At its core, this game is pure "Tsubasa" fan service I would recommend it to casual gamers only once it goes on sale.
I am very disappointed. The 1st game was released 6 years ago and this game has been very popular on all platforms. Are you telling me that nobody thought It would be a good idea to make sure this time steamdeck owners can play the game too like anyone else. I have more 250 hours on the first one. I was so excited to play this one, I got myself the deluxe edition only to see that it won't launch on my steamdeck and there is no way around it. I've spent the past 5 hours online trying to find a solution to no avail. OK fine, refund please. Next!
The worst game I played in history. I never was scammed so much. ------------------------------ A Huge Misunderstanding — A $70 Mobile Scam That Gutted the Entire Franchise (0/10) Review: As a 32-year-old gamer who has played thousands of titles, I can safely say the best phrase to describe Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is "a huge misunderstanding." It is an absolute disaster that completely misinterprets why the first game was successful. It should be sitting at Mostly Negative or Overwhelmingly Negative on Steam because it is a massive downgrade in every single aspect—including the graphics. Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (2020) on UE4 was a masterpiece because it was clean, polished, and gave you full tactical control over your player team. It offered a deep anime RPG experience where your match ratings (SSS) and friendships directly rewarded you with custom character stats, new skills, and ultimate moves. It had a gorgeous, dynamic white anime UI that perfectly captured the manga's soul. This garbage sequel took 6 to 7 years to make (in reality proly 1 year), yet the developers had absolutely no direction. They removed 90% of the game's core content, stripped away the RPG mechanics, and released a lazy, robotic mobile-game shell disguised as an Unreal Engine 5 upgrade. There is virtually ZERO graphic difference to justify the engine swap—in fact, the first game was far more well-done, clean, and visually superior. Here is exactly why this $70 title is an absolute failure: * Zero Team Control & Pure Chaos: In the first game, you could actually control a player team and build strategy. In Tsubasa 2, that is completely impossible. Even if you know all the buttons, the pitch is pure chaos. They turned the matches into a chaotic anime fighting game but forgot to include any of the RPG depth to support it. * No Building or Progression: They completely removed character creation depth and stat management. Skill-unlock logic is gone. Leveling up just automatically unlocks everything on a linear path. It feels entirely automated, lazy, and pointless. * Unplayable Match Mechanics: You cannot move properly on the map, the ball is randomly stolen from you constantly, and you have zero tactical control. It plays like a woody mobile game where you just mash buttons. * Visual Pollution & Ruined V-Zone: Blinding, gaudy aura colors cover the entire pitch during matches, making it impossible to see the ball. The V-Zone has been completely ruined, turned into a cheap, annoying graphical filter with zero strategic satisfaction compared to the first game. * Soulless Robotic UI: The menus look incredibly cold, flat, and robotic. It feels exactly like a cheap gacha game interface designed for smartphones, completely stripping away the beautiful white anime vibe of the first game. * Trash PC Optimization: The game doesn't even support native Fullscreen or 4K properly on PC without forcing Borderless Windowed workarounds—a basic bug they lazily copied over from the past instead of fixing it on day one in UE5. * Disrespect For Your Time, Disrespect if you are Captain Tsubasa Fan and if you are a player a gamer! Buying the Deluxe Edition of this game as a key from an outside website is the biggest mistake of my life because it is permanently attached to my account with no way to refund it. Now, seeing how they completely ruined Tsubasa 2 by cutting all the features, I am seriously worried about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. If Bandai Namco repeats this lazy pattern and removes the RPG elements there too, that game will be ruined. Do not buy this game. Go back to Rise of New Champions with all its DLC—it looks better, plays better, and actually feels powerful. Bandai and Tamsoft should be deeply ashamed. This is a mobile product sold at full console price. Final Rating: 0/10 (A textbook corporate scam. Let it drop to Mostly Negative where it belongs.) ------------------------------ In short? instead of taking their old game rise of new champions and upgrade it so adding a lot of things like story and more? they just made game from 0 and on unreal engine 5, or tried transfer it but they didnt had much time because of Bandai. They cut really 90% of rise of new champion put it on unreal engine 5 and released as the new game wow, gameplay is truly the worst i ever saw u really cant control the match fully like in 1. It is the biggest slap and piss on the player face, on the captain tsubasa fan. This game should have MOSTLY NEGATIVE, i cant call it PC or PS5 game, it feels like this game was made in 1,5 year max.
I finished all of the offline content and clear most of the objective (just a few left). Mostly Negative is where the game belong. Despite how much I love Captain Tsubasa and its prequel. This game is not worth your money at all. Not to mentioned about the very limited offline content, the gameplay itself is so bad. I don't even know how they made it worse than RONC that released 6 years ago. Player movement (turning) and the delay after player receiving the ball make the game is so unplayable. Best way to score is keep dribbling, only possible way to pass is to use the passing special move otherwise your player took a half year for touch the ball. Also, they limit your CaC to equip only 2 skills and you have to choose whether it shooting, dribbling or tackling. It's just make the game feel so boring. You remove normal passing skill and limit us to get rid another? I don't even understand how they make that decision. They also didn't provide some of the move from World Youth arc as well and that included one of the most importance "Tornado Arrow Skywing Shot". It's unbelievable. Overall, the gameplay is bad and feel like there wasn't any aspects of the game that really well-polished. If you expect something good like RONC, You probably gonna disappoint.
Dammit Tamsoft, you had a good thing with the first game and like many game companies, you're doing what most are today; removing replayability and variety from players to rush out a release. So I finally figured out what was rubbing me wrong about this game... which I will eventually play to completion because I love CT and the lore and characters, I am 48 and I grew up with these characters way back in the 1980s. What I loved about the first game was that I could create a character and go through their story arc with a plethora of options as to which junior high school I wanted them to originate from and which CT characters I wanted them to befriend and learn from, it was a game with virtually infinite replayability storywise. My only gripes with the game were that I never got to join one of the smaller schools like Meiwa, Azumaichi or MInamiuwa, and that once the story mode was over, there was nothing meaningful I could do with my created character other than go into the absurdly terrible online mode and play other people who were for the most part cheating to win a meaningless rank in an equally meaningless ranked mode. So what did I do, as a CT fan? I kept to story mode and enjoyed the many branches of the storyline over and over again until I had pretty much done everything I could possibly do. 2000+ hours of fun. Now we have CT2... there's no team making, there's no character making except for the one avatar you will use in perpetuity for one reason only: Online play. The devs have forsaken the story mode players and designed the game to cater to the thirsty online cheater/nutters, they've removed stats, they removed the grinding for those stats, so now your character will be exactly the same as everyone elses, just the further you clear the game, the more of the games movesets you can swap into your guy. I assume that once you have the optimal set, there's gonna be everyone pretty much online playing with all the optimal build and nothing else. The 'story' mode is one long line of no branching options whatsoever, no choices, hell they even wrote your original character from CTRONC right out of the story itself, this 'new you' is a guy who grew up idolizing the guys from the first game and who inexplicably already plays for Sao Paulo and then inexplicably has no choice but to return to Japan to play for Nankatsu and Japan Youth eventually. No branches, no choices, just one linear gauntlet. Oh and since there's no team making, there's just less to do now. Sadly, and I asked Bamco in their many fan questionnaires, they didn't listen to any of my suggestions. All I wanted was an expanded story mode with even more options and branches than the first game. Instead they changed the gameplay from RPG elements to Fighting Game elements and made it more multiplayer friendly, which isn't the reason I liked the game to begin with! Tl;dr Captain Tsubasa Rise of the New Champions is for RPG players who like Captain Tsubasa, Captain Tsubasa II World Fighters is for Fighting Game fanatics who want to play online multiplayer against leavers, cheaters and guys with twitchier thumbs than you. Decide which you are and base your purchase on that, I guess. I will complete the game, but I can already see there aren't 2000 hours of gameplay awaiting me here. That makes me sad. Seems the gaming industry doesn't want to make games to be replayable anymore, they just want to sell you the newest craze and quickly move onto the next one to extract as much cash from you as possible instead of sell you the fantasy you want.
The Good: - No more card pack microtransactions, you can learn super shots as the story goes by fulfilling missions, no points needed - Your custom character in the story can play all positions in the field including playing as goalkeeper - No more stats and skills. I'm listing this as good because 1. playing as defender in the first game is effectively gimping yourself unless you're picking Musashi FC because you have to score to fulfill the missions to gain more stat points, 2. you will receive less stat point if you don't win a match the first time/restarting, which is a pain when you want to trigger certain story missions, 3. you HAVE to gacha for good stat boosting items for good stat gain on the top of first win bonus/fulfilling story missions. - You can replay all the story parts whenever you want, no more having to start a new character because you missed bringing benched character A to the match while fulfilling missions that requires chacater B to be on the field. The Bad: - No more Tactics to manipulate the AI teammates when you don't control them: You can't mark dangerous opponent/trigger event flag, you can't make forwarders stay farther on the field when attacked, etc, - As the result of the above removed Tactics, some of the story missions are HARD to fulfill e.g. when you need a certain characters to tackle and another to score, but the ball never seems to go their way and you only have 30 in game minutes to do it, etc. - Some of the overly simplified mechanics that makes this game no longer proper soccer game e.g. no more subtitution mid match, no more offside when you pass without defenders on the back, you don't even have to aim your shots to the goal of the opposide team to score, your player's current stamina no longer affect the power of their shots, any shot less than a super shot is practically useless, etc. - When you cross into penalty box your best teammates with aerial moves will literally teleport to the penalty box. Especially bad when you can put aerial super shot on your defender and he will teleport from the back to the penalty box in an instant. Once again this happens because you don't have any way to make your teammates stay near the penalty box if you don't control them - The character switch as a defender is BAD. The game feels like ignoring defenders nearby the opposing player controlling the ball and select far away players instead. Also you can't have 2 players pinning the opposing players now. I will try to finish this game properly, but I can't recommend this game at full price when the mechanics in the first game are played way better than this game.
Why remove some good features from the first game? Only one CaC, really? No choosing routes? No dream team? Game is too easy, i don't care about online.
