The latest negative reviews leave me buffled!! You are seriously complaining that Paradox took some great mods and incorporated mechanics from them into the main game? Making a mod on a game doesn't give you artistic licence over the game. Also the other guy complaining about Roman genocide! I mean has the world gone completely coo-coo? This is one of the best Paradox Grand-strategy games out there, that with mods may be their best. For me personally it's much easier to spend 6-hours continuously on IR than EU4.

Best Game Paradox never finished but thanks to the Invictus Devs for keeping the game fresh and alive!

Very good game, simple to understand but infinitely complex with a world that changes every time. I didn't get why people were so mad when paradox stopped development of the game till I actually played it. The 2.0 update was the bedrock for an amazing game, way better systems then ck3 has currently, if they were just expanded on and fully fleshed out genuinely could have become a stand out paradox game, so unbelievably disappointing. For the price and the fact that it doesn't have a lot of DLC and it's pretty old so it goes on sale, very good wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks for it.

Shame.. Shame! Shame on you PARADOX for making this game and then just.. blahh.. leaving it like a poop from a poop chute! Just there. I got over 1700h in CK3 and another in CK2 and also some hours in EU4 and specially CK3 has a special place in my heart for taking it and making me enjoy everything about it! It is downright perfect, except for the so updates that come everyother day and ruin your save game! But i can get over that! But you Imperator Rome! You made me lost my money and really made me think paradox as the bad guys.. Apparently mods have made it playable at least. But paradox! SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great game too bad paradox left this one on the shelf But the invictus mod does a great job in making this 7/10 game into a 9/10 if you're gonna play it give this mod a try

If you enjoy in depth combat, this one is for you. Also, cheapest paradox game, you don’t need to spend 250$ to get all the features. This one has very enjoyable combat, economy management and I really enjoy the different ways you build your nation. And one last suggestion, highly recommend playing with Invictus mod. This is one of my favourite paradox games, it’s a bit tough to get into, it has very unique features compared to other paradox games, but it’s totally worth the learning curve. For me, this and EU4 are top choice for Paradox games.

Awesome grand strategy game for history nerds. Extremely underrated.

This game really has one of the nicest maps of all paradox map painter games out there at this moment. What is a shame however is that Paradox dropped this project, it is one of my favourite paradox games if not my most favourite as I am a big Roman history fan. Recommended would be to buy this game on sale with the dlc's and to install the invictus mod from the steam workshop (unoffical mod expansion). The game has a mix of several paradox games: characters & building construction system from Crusader Kings 2 (which you will enjoy most for playing dictatorships or monarchy games), population and economy management system from Victoria 2 and a nation building, missions, army traditions and combat system from Europa Universalis 4 and lastly a new technology system and goverment management system specific for this game. This has also been the games biggest criticisms, as it confused fans of what this game actually is. Is it CK2? No. Is it Vic 2? No. Is it EU IV? yes, kind of but not completely. It does not do better what these games do individually for character management, economy management or nation building. What it does do is give a wide experience to do all of it. The best description of this game would be an Europa Universalis game made in roman times. What is impressive is how many mechanics this game has civilization spread management, culture/religion management, diplomacy, pop happyness management, army management, food management, political system management, ... Who is this game for? people who like roman history and paradox map painter style games. What is missing? The tactical battles from total war games that would give the graphical element of the game such a nice boost.

I am shocked at how great this game is because paradox abandoned it. I can only imagine how great the dlcs would have been if this game got a 10 year support like all other paradox games. However, As a base game with only a couple of flavour packs its still a great game. i recommend it, especially if you have an interest in the roman empire or the classical period. Please Paradox, revive this game.
