A pseudo 8-bit action platformer taking a bit of inspiration from film-noir and samurai dramas, iaidoka_interlude applies a few parkour and fighting game influences to mix up familiarity with a little uniquity.

I'm a big fan of NES games in general, and this feels just like a tighter NES game. The platforming is clean, controls are very tight, music is great and I love the artstyle. I can't fault this other than it's a little short - I would have loved more or a randomizer maybe. Something to make me squeeze more out of this game because as of writing this, it took me 1.3 hours to beat the game, going back to a couple stages to get the "less than 10 deaths" achievements.
this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. mechanics are bad, you need to just sit on 1x1 tile, but no, your character is climbing on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spikes. chapter 5 is terrible
Short, simple and surprisingly fun. I wasn't hoping for much considering how cheap iaidoka is, but it is well worth the price. It's just important to have the right expectations before you play; if you're looking for a traditional platformer with fighting elements, this isn't it. It's moreso about timing and figuring out the pattern of each level.
Oh my god this game is absolutely incredible. One of the best games I've played so far in 2022. The platforming mechanics, sheer challenging gameplay make this an absolute must have game for 2022. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Dev is super talented.
SUMMARY
This game plays and feels like just a collection of levels without much else in the way to motivate you to play further. Even Mario had you "rescuing the princess" but here you're just jumping over obstacles and slashing enemies repeatedly with no higher goal. That could be forgivable if there was some sort of a high score table, but there isn't. Overall not worth playing as it feels like a hollow experience.
OVERALL SCORE
Not Recommended
REPLAY VALUE
Low
