Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, aka Peaktunia, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It combines the greatest elements of every genre and masterfully delivers the quintessential blend of a deep and expressive combat system, thought-provoking storytelling, and a huge variety of immersive 3D environments. Its story changed something within me. The writing, along with several incredible plot twists, elevates the narrative to the level of masterpieces such as Umineko no Naku Koro ni, and Muv-Luv Alternative. In that sense, Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 stands among the greatest kamige ever made--if not the greatest of them all. The clever and interactive combat system made for an addictive experience. I kneel before its finely tuned difficulty curve; it is never too difficult, nor does it become excessively grindy--something that could have been a major issue for a JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game) like Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1. Overall, I think this is the only video game to ever be made. I will never forget that piracy is bad, as this is what Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 has taught me in the process. RATING : 10/10
A better JRPG than I feel some people are willing to give it credit for. The combat system is good, the artstyle is really cute, decent soundtrack, and not too long or too short. The main draw is, of course, the banter of the characters, which mostly just comes down to meta-jokes, cute anime girls doing cute things, or just trolling other characters. The main drawbacks are unfortunately recycled assets and the occasional random level spike, but if you can put up with that, I think you'll enjoy it. It's a decent entry point into the series and a good choice if you only want to play one Neptunia game.
this is a very fun and nepable game. it is the best (and only) JRPG i have played so far and i would highly recommend you play it. after getting all the achievements i can say that the hardest and most grindiest part of the game is getting all the materials for the dozens of swimsuits you can make.
Crashes randomly on Steam Deck, often during the last hp moments of a boss which is incredibly frustrating. I tried numerous Protons and found no solution online that works, this game should not have the Verified status for Deck
Fun casual game, but 100%ing this game is a nightmare. It's impossible without online guides. Had to look up which enemies dropped what items because you need them in order to craft more items to unlock more stages. Farming for 100 million credits is excruciatingly boring. Whoever put that achievement in the game, I hope a poopy covered pp rams your butthole
Played for a bit and it was reasonably entertaining until I realized how much grinding was needed for this game.
I am that one weirdo who got into this series mostly because of the music. The characters are quite silly and over-the-top, but the story is pretty relaxed and comedic (and unexpectedly wholesome).. It's intentionally strange and catchy (Denpa, if you know the term). Give it 3 or 4 chapters and see if it clicks. Basically, you play as Sega, an airhead who has lost her memories but somehow knows that she is the protagonist. You start out getting bullied by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. That's about the most realistic part of the story. On your adventure you’ll run into them again, and you'll save the world together. The plot is 100% self-aware and doesn't really take itself too seriously. It's more like a pile of Easter eggs and parodies which somehow grew into a solid JRPG story line. Mechanically it has a bit of everything. The turn-based tactical combat is pretty fun but can get a bit grindy and repetitive. Especially since they reuse a LOT of assets.
