what a joke
You're better off avoiding this game for a while, and Heart Machine for that matter. I'm sure all the recent reviews provide ample reasoning. Awfully reminiscent of KSP2's downfall.
I do not want to not recommend the game based on 12 minutes of game. But I already found a lot of wrong to say in that short amount and I cannot recommend it. My first experience was me dying from a bug because the first time you fall in the''ruins'' in the tuto the game considered that I drowned... like that, in the air with no water around whatsoever. In the first 3 minutes of beginning of the game in the tuto.... Also the controls on keyboard are atrocious. There are so many way to bind keys better, but they decided to ask you to do weird combinations and bind some actions in weird keys. Like spawning the overboard could just be 1 key. I died so many times in the tuto over and over trying to do what the game told me until I kept the button pressed longer than usual, which cause a huge delay in the hoverboard spawning and feels unnatural. Also no graphical setting. That is something I would really appreciate to have. I really want to like the game. Beautiful ambience, stylish, anthro characters. But I already am turn away by a death bug and weird controls after 12 minutes already. Update : I said I was gonna leave this game another chance in hope they fix it, but there is no longer anybody working on this, they layoff everyone so this is an abandon project forever now....

Cant recommend. World feels empty, combats OK but getting ganged up on without a way to parry attacks from behind sucks. No I frames for dashing, lack of direction when starting, just feels too bare bone. It could be fun with another person but i hate rolling the dice with randoms.
Nope.
I bought this because I heard great things about its predecessor and was able to get it in a bundle pack. The graphics were appealing, I was especially drawn to the cell shaded style used. The movement feels pretty good, its fluid, you get a skateboard, and I like the different weapon selections. However, the monsters (less so now but especially at the beginning of EA) do so much damage you can only take a few hits before needing to extract or accept your fate. Extracting is fairly difficult as well since you need to locate the extraction point and survive through some spawns. The bosses are kind of neat, but overall I feel the core gameplay loop is just unfun. I don't see them having a way of addressing that, especially with the team's layoffs. I know they're trying a few things different now but they need to overhaul a large mount of the gameplay loop IMHO. I feel they're planning to just wrap up a few odds and ends and call it a finished product. Hopefully one day modders get their hands on it and could do something proper and unique with it. I think if the developers took less inspiration from extraction shooters and RoR2 this would've been way more enjoyable. As of now its one of those games maybe I'll check back in on in a year but I don't have high hopes for it. Edit: I checked back in a little early, for Christmas we get all development on this title halted. All you had to do was be willing to make changes and listen to your EA audience to implement such changes. Its super silly this is currently being sold as EA on sale when its development will not progress further, it should be delisted. Very disappointed with all involved.
Idk what to think anymore. Somehow they took what was a difficult, grindy, but oddly satisfying rogue-like and turned it into something incredibly boring and..easy? I used to struggle to get one boss down, making the grind feel satisfying. Now, you can solo queue, hit all 3 bosses without 1 single extraction. While I know there's a difficulty modifier, they removed what actually *made* it interesting. Every time you load in being an incredible challenge. Extracting feeling like a goal and a risk just to get a breath of health, do some upgrades, buy new weapons, and relaunch. Upgrades coming few and far between. Incredibly customized (and careful) builds. But now? simple and boring. Stuck in "classes" with little customization. All upgrades being cheesy little "press X to upgrade" without any real need for extraction. So many freebies. Free health. Free medkits. Free items. And, it just lacks content right now. No reason to come back after you complete 1 cycle. Maybe the finished game will surprise me, but it's going the opposite direction of fun right now.
so much mpotential here. RoR2 for HLD. buy if you want to help them reach a finished product. Needs bug fixes and quality of life changes. Combat and camera are too clunky. Parrying is clunky. Locking on is also terrible. it puts the camera right behind your character and you can't see anything going on. Solving these issues will make the combat and gameplay much smoother.
