Quality game for the gameplay loop it is from what i experienced it feels around the same size as risk of rain two content. Don't buy if you want a classic rouge like, but was an enjoyable game! it is to bad it got cancelled or whatever. If it does get renewed that would be amazing, one thing i personally didn't like was the ammo system for the guns. If it goes on sale would be a good chance to try it!
Game will never get updated. Shame, it was my favorite franchise and was excited for years for this to come out

They made every aspect of the this game worse to appeal to general rouge lite fans The Bad -Extracting in an extraction game has no risk to it anymore -You can't stache extra equipment for use on other characters anymore or if you lose already equipped item -Removed functionality of bright blood outside of the overgrowth -Added 1 med kit as a base ability but removed executions from the base move kit and added it to the skill tree -Skill tree percs still suck for the most part -Merchants outside the overgrowth don't sell items anymore, now their only function is to upgrade equipment -Merchants need 1 golden ration to access the ability to upgrade equipment for each merchant -Merchants still require 12 mechanical parts to open up -Shell progression ruined by not being permanent anymore, only lasting for that current cycle -XP toward golden rations are only rewarded at the end of each cycle making extraction feel even worse and the progression of the skill tree just as slow as before The Good -You don't have to go a full cycle without a med kit -More equipment, bosses, and affixes -More holobytes slots -Better performance -Reworked World Tier system?
Cant recommend. World feels empty, combats OK but getting ganged up on without a way to parry attacks from behind sucks. No I frames for dashing, lack of direction when starting, just feels too bare bone. It could be fun with another person but i hate rolling the dice with randoms.
Loved hyper light drifter and I really wanted to love this game too however, Its core just isn't there. It's just bland and really misses all the marks. Upside combat feels pretty okay, game is really pretty, and sound design is great. I thought maybe the recent reviews & update would signal its time to finally purchase this game. Spoiler its not. Keep cooking. I'll come back when the game complete. Edit: Rip game has been essentially ended all its development. it will get brought to a "release" state but staff has been laid off and the future for this project is quite bleak.
i had a lot of fun with this game, it has so much potential, but unfortunately since development has stopped before the game was ever finished i cant recommend :(
:(
I love the aesthetic but the current build is barely functional on Steam Deck. Where are the graphics settings?
I do not want to not recommend the game based on 12 minutes of game. But I already found a lot of wrong to say in that short amount and I cannot recommend it. My first experience was me dying from a bug because the first time you fall in the''ruins'' in the tuto the game considered that I drowned... like that, in the air with no water around whatsoever. In the first 3 minutes of beginning of the game in the tuto.... Also the controls on keyboard are atrocious. There are so many way to bind keys better, but they decided to ask you to do weird combinations and bind some actions in weird keys. Like spawning the overboard could just be 1 key. I died so many times in the tuto over and over trying to do what the game told me until I kept the button pressed longer than usual, which cause a huge delay in the hoverboard spawning and feels unnatural. Also no graphical setting. That is something I would really appreciate to have. I really want to like the game. Beautiful ambience, stylish, anthro characters. But I already am turn away by a death bug and weird controls after 12 minutes already. Update : I said I was gonna leave this game another chance in hope they fix it, but there is no longer anybody working on this, they layoff everyone so this is an abandon project forever now....
(Actual playtime was about 11 hours) Another disappointment from the overhyped Heart Machine studio...a disappointment that comes saddled with more than usual as now the developers are being fired and the development of the game is ceasing. It's sad to see people let go, especially when it leaves us with unfinished obligations. It is Early Access though and that's the risk we buy into. There was little point in buying this poorly executed game. There's less so now. While I never seemed to really gel with their games, I wish the devs the best of luck going forward and hope they can continue making games if it's what they wish.
