Feels good so far, pretty close to Drifter's vibe. Gotta heal the review stats.
Abandoned and unfinished. I will not buy titles published by Arc Games.

Not worth playing until they make the game fun and playable for singleplayer-only gamers too. Development for the game has been suspended indefinately. Assume it's a dead game.
I recently downloaded this game to play with friends and after just a few hours, i can say that i thoroughly enjoy this game. The movement and combat is very fluid and easy to get a hold on after tutorials and a bit of time in game. the open world exploration is very fun and exciting to see the different buildings and generations in the world and the different variations in enemies. i think there are a few things i would like to see to further improve this game to make it even better. i think a more in depth tutorial on some of the materials and collectibles would be a great help. when first dropped in, i had no idea what the separate currencies all meant and which ones i would need for a single run vs the overall game. the gathering of ramen materials is cute, but without having the ramen shop unlocked at first i wouldn't have even considered to keep an eye out for the ingredients. i also think a small tutorial on the different events and places you can encounter would also help for understanding what is about to happen when the warning systems go off. i think the current tutorial is great and being able to optionally chose to play it is a perfect set up, but it focuses mainly on the combat and no explanation on what to expect for the world generation, the resources to gather, or even an insight to each shop before buying them. i also believe that a different menu to change your character in that isn't the same menu to start a cycle in would be a nice improvement, but i digress. most of the others changes i would like are very small and kind of nitpicky to annoying degree. overall, i had a very fun time with this game and will continue to play it, especially with my friends! i can't wait to see what changes are made in the future and to see how this game fully evolves over time. i highly recommend giving it a try for yourself and just have fun with it especially if you can play it multiplayer.
I want to see a few things change. Area traversal should be more immediate, whether it's zip lines you can glide from or jump pads. more mobs/action and movesets. aerial movesets that have aoe damage. team buffs. better lock-on camera. camera options, distance to character, fov. it's a great looking game, and it plays better than it did a year ago when i first picked it up. i have high hopes for this title as a fan of drifter. but it's not there yet by a long shot for me. the open world doesn't currently appeal to me because the rhythm of gameplay is too slow. it would also be fun if you had to defend areas on the map, maybe add friendly NPC's instead of all of them being locked behind a key.
It's a rough gem that still needs some ironing out, but as other recent reviews state this game will remain in EA indefinitely for the foreseeable future due to the executive decisions resulting in this games development coming to an abrupt halt. Sad as well due to the recent update adding a new playable character and twin boss fight. Unfortunately, it's rather redundant now that there will officially be no means of completing the game in it's current state, the final boss fight of the game had yet to be developed. HLB is otherwise an entertaining experience, BUT would highly recommend you only seek to acquire it during a sale.
much better now
Combat is good but the game feels empty, has weapon drops locked to specific characters. Which only make it feel like it has even less content (and is a pretty unfun design choice). The progression is slim and tbh not that fun. Especially the meta progression needs a lot of work to feel meaningful and keep players invested. I warmed up a few runs solo and didn't get very far. Then I matched up with a player with about the same amount of progression and we finished a run on our first attempt. And it just made me feel done with what the game had to offer. Hopefully it'll grow as it progresses through early access and I can change the review if it does.
