House of Velez is a horror game based around stealth/puzzle elements. It emphasizes sneaking, running and hiding mechanics to surpass obstacles rather than combat. This game draws inspiration from titles like Haunting Ground and even film such as the 1980's Hellraiser.

Within the first few minutes of playing this, I felt like I was in 1995, which is a great thing. However, once the action really got going, I felt like I was in 1995, which is not a great thing. You see, the dev did a stupendous job in creating the right kind of atmosphere for what this game needed to be. However, the controls and gameplay did not need to follow suit, and should have been a bit more modernized. While I have been through this with games 30 years ago, it was always the thing that held them back. When making a game that is a clear homage to the horror of that era, you should certainly pull from its strengths, but equally, you should try to improve on its weaknesses. That being said, I appreciate the effort here and I am honestly torn, as the visuals and the feelings this generates are authentic and genuine to its inspirations.
I spent 82 minutes trying to unlock the door.

It's just overly frustrating for the sake of it, it's not really scary or interesting either.
Eerie and thrilling with excellent visual design. The unfamiliar controls add to the unique character of the game.
this f*king sucks actually
Thank you for the game. Great.
Very good game, if short! I went into the game knowing what to expect, so I wasn't particularly shocked as I have played similar games before, but I did really enjoy it both as a horror story and in terms of the creativity behind the death scenes. Looking forward to the remake, and I hope (and am sure) it will have even more horror, sexuality and gore, as I think it always makes a good combo, like with the World of Agony. Of course, there are downsides to it. The controls (namely being the heartbeat suppression and the inability to sneak or even move completely randomly) and the difficulty did hold it back, and I am sad to say having to pause and be forced to listen to the same voice lines before each stealth sequence did get on my nerves, but all in all, I felt better by the end than when I first began.
yeah
I love this game so much. This is the kind of project (this is including part 2, I consider them a package deal because you gotta play both!) This is such a wonderful project with so much love put into it! Incredible thought put into this as well! Everything is so wonderfully made and I would drop everything for the chance to help on a project like this!! Incredible work and the remake looks incredible as well!!! Definitely go in blind :) Generational horror project here!
Very very different but in a good way. The game has a lot of dark imagery and gore, the death scenes are extremely violent, but there is more to the story than what is shown. It is a sad story with a deeper meaning, and the imagery solidifies that. I sadly cant fully complete the game due to the restrictions on age for the second part but its worth the play if you have the stomach.
