Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 25 → 0.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
But Why? is a short, atmospheric journey about a penguin who chooses to walk toward the mountain and never turns back.
There is no grand prophecy.
No heroic destiny.
No one waiting at the top.
Only wind.
Only snow.
Only the decision to keep moving.
What Awaits You
Slippery terrain shifts beneath your feet.
Powerful winds push you off balance.
Momentum can be your greatest ally or your worst enemy.
Sometimes you glide effortlessly.
Sometimes you lose control.
Sometimes the only thing you can do… is slow down and endure.
Alone or Together
Walk the frozen path alone in quiet reflection.
Or face the mountain with up to 4 players, sharing the cold, the chaos, and the climb.
No competition.
No race.
Just persistence.
No Answers. Only a Question.
There is no explicit narrative.
No dialogue.
No guidance.
The game doesn’t ask what you are doing.
It asks:
Why are you still walking?

I cried at the end, The most well-spent 2$ of my life. Everything was beautiful - from the views, to the amount of goofy moments me and my bf had. A solid 10/10.
This was the most important televisual event since Quantum Leap...and I do not say that lightly.
It really shows the deep struggles that Penguins go though. The need to stay warm and find food, the very idea that there are monsters in the sea hunting you. Its a sad life for a penguin and this game really shows that journey to understanding life. If you wanna know more about Penguins https://www.globalpenguinsociety.org/

I used to think that love was a big booty goth mommy, but after playing this game I realized that love is the penguin journey to the top of the mountain. I am the penguin, and life is my mountain. Highly recommend this game to anyone who has ever questioned "why"? 10/10 Would question life again...with friends
Penguin Approved - Weirdly Accurate, this happened to my buddy Eric.
I don't understand the amount of positive reviews, I'd understand a mixed amount of both positive and negative however. I'd thumbs this up but there are so many faulty mechanics within the game such as discovering you would require a respawn in order to reset hunger near the end, faulty spots to stay "alive" from the orcas within the water, the music not being allowed to decrease at the end, the path was very aimless at first with no direction and was attempting an impossible climb against an incline for 15 minutes. There are so many things that could've improved the "quality of life" to at least make the game more satisfactory. I disagree on the opinions that others have for the beginning being nice and the near end with the platforming to be exhausting because it did bring a fun challenge towards the game. TO SUMMARIZE: the game isn't terrible- but it isn't great either.
