好~
This is a great game, with a unique premise/world, and gameplay mechanics. The music is great, and everything ties well together. There is a TON of playability with this game, with so many different collectibles/achievements, that you can spend at least a few months on this game. The one thing I didn't like about this game is that you have to replay the levels to be able to access all the various secret rooms since you don't get the ability until later in the game

Hi-Fi Rush is a game where you're an annoying kid trying to take down Sam Altman by playing Devil May Cry to the beat of the music. The game is a solid package all around and it screams that it's an passion project from the developers. Easily my favorite part about this game are the animations. Everything is so well baked and mastered to perfection. And also implementing those animations so smoothly to the gameplay was just cinema. Gameplay is basically just the usual "GOOD (VERY GOOD)" hack and slash combat except you deal more damage when you do your hits to the beat. It's simply fun and satisfying. Sometimes it felt a bit repetitive but still fun. So yeah just a simple idea turned into a banger game. That's all there is to it. Story and characters are easily the weakest part in my opinion. The story is very predictable. Play this one for the gameplay. Characters are hit or misses, mostly misses. The main character Chai is intentionally annoying I get that but it doesn't really change my opinion about the character. Also the dialogue is most of the time pretty basic and corny. Maybe that's also the point? I don't really know. Just wasn't for me I guess... But overall the game is great. Another one of those games that really shows the developers' passion and dedication. If you enjoy hack and slash and rhythm games you will feel right at home with this one. Solid 9/10.
Hi-Fi Rush is stylish, but don't be deceived it's actually pretty damn hard too. I played for the first time on hard mode and it was worth the challenge, amazing music selection and fantastic original music. The combat is super fun and has a high skill ceiling and you could spend hours labbing out combo chains and mastering parries. My favorite combo pair is an Arpeggio Stab followed by a Harmonic Beam, this will take an enemy up into the air which isolates you from surrounding attacks while dealing massive damage to your target. Arpeggio Stab is probably the best combo to unlock in the game since it's so useful. A lot of the bosses are also able to be air combo'd too which is another reason why Arpeggio Stab is so strong. As a technical artist, there's a lot I want to learn about how they achieved the visuals for this game. There's a lot of remarkable work done with the shading, lighting, and VFX in this game that inspires me to replicate them myself in Unreal. Hi-Fi Rush doesn't get enough recognition for how genuinely great of a game in its execution and polish. Highly recommend.
Honestly I'm glad this game exists. Always had a game idea like this in my head, it's nice to see it actually done.
Hi-Fi Rush is my first ever rhythm game. Going into this, I figured I would be bad at it since I have no experience in the genre, but I wasn’t expecting to be as bad as I was. In every single fight during the first few chapters, I would only hit around 50% of attacks on beat. I was legitimately trying so hard, even spending a while in the training room, but I barely improved. By the time I got to the end of the game, I was getting around 60% on beat, which, while technically an improvement, still felt pretty terrible. I think my biggest problem is I never knew how to start an attack on the beat. I tried using the visual guides, but it always felt like I needed to press the button sooner than I was expecting. I don't think I had any latency, but even if there was, the game has no setting that lets you adjust for the latency. All this to say that for people who have never played a rhythm game before, I don't think this is a good entry into the genre. I came into the game bad at rhythm games, played through the whole game, practiced a lot, and saw barely any improvement. This game is clearly best enjoyed by people who are already good at the mechanics. Of course, doing the timing well isn’t a requirement. In one chapter, I tried fully ignoring the timing score and just played it like any other action game, but consistently seeing Ds for my timing score was just too soul crushing for me to handle, so I gave up on that. While the combat is satisfying and is a good difficulty, I could never fully enjoy it due to how bad I was at the timing. And as for the other aspects of this game, it doesn't really have anything else going for it. The platforming was quite basic, and the rough movement made those sections not too fun. The story is incredibly basic. The characters range from annoying to plain; not a single one stood out or felt particularly interesting. The comedy was quite rough; I don't want to necessarily call it millennial humor, but the vast majority of the jokes were misses. As for the music, it was just alright. The only songs I took notice of and liked were songs written by other artists, which there were surprisingly few of. Most songs present in this game are originals and are pretty basic. The only other aspect the game has going for it is its animation, which was very well produced. Of course, I recognize I am in the minority; there are many people who really enjoyed the gameplay, and lots who liked these characters. This review is more so for those like me who have never played a rhythm game before. If that applies to you, I'm not saying you should never play Hi-Fi Rush, but rather it should wait until you've played some other rhythm games first. I didn’t hate my time playing, but it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. 6.75/10.
