*Edit* WARNING! Dev has made F12 be the key to restart the game. You will not get a screenshot. Remember old dungeon crawler games like Dragon Quest or Wizardry? This game is like one of those with just about all of the fluff cut out. At least in the first scenario: You press start game and after a 2 panel cut scene you're in the dungeon and ready to rock. There are two buttons, menu/back and accept/select. There are four directions. That's the optimal amount of buttons needed for a heroic turn based adventure game. No more, no less. There appears to be a boss every level, usually before you find your way to the next floor. The music is solid, the gameplay quality is fun enough, there's enough of difference between the different characters, you get to use Jew magic to smite enemies, everything about this game screams I'm a heroic adventure game tale with some amazing value. It's 3 dollars and you get 3 campaigns. How long are they? I have no idea yet, but for the price of a DLC you get not one but THREE heroic adventures. That is some high quality value. I am shocked there is not a single review, as Mr/Miss/Ms/Cthulhu-kinned KA*IN WORKS clearly but some tremendous work into polishing this awesome looking game. You'd expect a game like this to be chock full of spelling errors and grammar issues, wouldn't you? Well ♥♥♥♥, I haven't found one. Granted that might be the benefit of a laconic game. But hell, if you got yourself 3 dollars and you enjoy yourself some basic 8-bit adventuring games, do yourself a favor and get yourself this game. Dev deserves every penny as you can tell this game is oozing with love as the dev recreated their childhood. Do you have $3? Buy this game. The value is incredible. Even at full price. Dev is awesome. Not a single bug or glitch that I came across. It looks extremely polished for what it is, an exceedingly mediocre adventure game for an incredible value. Do you like watching numbers go up and down to please the monkey brain as you explore small mazes and dungeons? Then this will most definitely please you. You can't even get a bottle of water for $3 at most places anymore, let alone 3 heroic adventuring tales. Someone give this dev a trophy made out of affordable materials and dreams and love, because that's what they delivered us. Buy this game, you'll be satisfied with the Value+ provided by this game. Check out my other reviews if you think this is just some random shill nonsense. I've been around the block and this stuff is like damn if I had this game when I was 5 I'd have a tattoo of one of these characters on my back instead of Jogurt from Shining Force. Addendum: Gameplay is simple enough. You get up to 4 adventurers, your sword and shield person, your axe guy with an attack that hits all enemies, a magic caster, and a healer. I have not obtained magical skills for the first two units yet, but their heroic value is only 8 at the moment. There is a weapon slot, arms (shield) slot, torso armor, helmet, and jewelry. I just reached the 5th level in the first adventure, and it's been a fun time. Enemies are challenging enough, art is delightful in it's own unique way. You can only risk encounters when moving onto the shaded squares in the dungeon, after you clear a section there's no more enemies, unless you leave the area and come back, in which case the shadowed squares will return (think OG metroid.) There's a pinch of story that you get as you meet characters and come across different things in this dungeon, enough to keep the player curious and keep them moving. All in all, it's a fantastic little game and for $3 I guarantee you will not be able to find a better value on steam or anywhere else if you're looking for an 8-bit style dungeon crawler. Buy it, support the dev, then hopefully he will see this and make a Heroic Force Tale Value+ where it goes the route of Shining Force and expands from a dungeon crawler game into a strategy RPG game. If you have any questions about gameplay or anything feel free to make a comment on this review. I'm really shocked I'm the first person to give this game a review.
