Reviews
The game is somewhat slow paced and takes an hour or two to really get into. Combat is not really varied, which I personally enjoy, because I prefer to explore the environment more than fighting enemies all the time. The combat difficulty level can also be adjusted for players who prefer easier combat and more exploration, balanced combat experience, or a higher difficulty for more action. After getting killed 3 times I set it to the lowest difficulty, so that I can focus more on exploring and solving the mysteries. The game world is beautiful and really enjoyable to explore. Encountering characters and picking up collectibles from different parts of the game world to tie together mysteries and story lines is also quite enjoyable and satisfying when you make progress. Having to pay attention to the details in the environment and remember all kinds of things from previous encounters and collectibles you've obtained is also enjoyable and makes the game more challenging. One downside is the lack of vehicular transport when exploring environments. You're forced to explore everything on foot, and can only use the APC to travel between entirely different areas within the game world. This slows you down and can be annoying sometimes. However, it is possible to sprint without stamina loss when exploring the world outside of a battle. Highly recommended if you like to explore beautiful game worlds to admire the art, solve mysteries and riddles that require you to put some thought into it, remember details from previously encountered parts of the world and story, and pay attention to the details in your environment.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Hell is us is what Forever winter promised but failed to deliver: a gut-wrenching, thought-provoking and terrifically real image of war from the perspective of civilians caught in the crossfire. It's not a labor of love, but of a burning hatred against the very concept of war. It is also a masterclass in worldbuilding and environmental storytelling. Nothing in the game is random: every single piece of junk, husk of a vehicle or corpse has a story to tell if you are willing to slow down and pay attention. You can choose to just run past them on your way to the next objective, but playing this way will feel repetitive and boring. This is not a game for people who let ChatGPT do their homework. You will need to think and write stuff down if you want to complete it yourself. And as most negative reviews show, this might be too high of a bar nowadays. The only genuine downside of the game is performance: it demands AAA level compute without offering AAA level graphics in return.
Great game, the combat is tough but not punishing, and the exploration is amazing (no markers, no map, just finding clues and deducing for yourself). The healing mechanic is also good, pushing you to be agressive but also mindful, engaging you into the core mechanics of the combat. The story is really good; I always admire writers who can conjure up whole nations, histories, religions, etc. There are various themes such as religion, war, sin, humanity, etc. and the central conflict reminds me of many real-life conflicts past and present. I recommend the game, but be wary of one thing. The performance is abysmal on PC no matter your setup. Luckily, the most downloaded mod on NexusMods for this game (Ultimate Engine Tweaks) fixes this so be sure to install it as it fixed all issues for me (which should be done by the developer, not modders). With that in mind, if you're interested, grab on sale for a price you're comfortable with, as there's a really good game here!
This one surprised me. To me, this feels like a modern-day take on 90s point-'n-click games. If titles like Discworld, Secret of Monkey Island, and Beneath a Steel Sky are your thing, you may want to give this a shot. (This one has a more serious tone/setting, though.) The combat is arguably my least favorite aspect of the game -- while it attempts some interesting gimmicks, it overall just doesn't really land for me -- the mystery-solving this title presents you with, more than makes up for that: lots of gathering keys, codes and information, and applying them elsewhere in the map, or even in an entirely different zone. There is no mini-map to speak of, fast travel is extremely limited, and it is up to you to remember where you found that locked chest or puzzle site, to which you find the necessary key perhaps 10 hours later. It's perhaps a tricky game, as it certainly drops some modern day conventions, but for a few people this will certainly scratch a particular itch.
Hell is Us is a game with an amazing atmosphere and fun combat. The focus of the gameplay is definitely combat and puzzle solving, but everywhere you go you are submerged in the oppressive and grim atmosphere of a country torn apart by civil war further tormented by the arrival of cryptic monstrosities manifesting randomly across the country and slaughtering any who engage them. The mystery behind the arrival of these creatures and what they actually are is key to the story, and I've been pretty satisfied with how this intersects with the world building they've laid out. As it stands, I'm on the second Act seeking out a number of key items to progress the story, and I've been learning an astonishing amount about the world despite mostly just focusing on ripping and tearing through the monsters. I have literally one gripe about the game, and its the puzzles. I can definitely see how the puzzles make sense, and I understand that not every item you need in an area will ORIGINATE in that area, but backtracking hours of progress just to deliver a pair of shoes, or solve a door puzzle, or some other crazy task just isn't the greatest feeling in the world, so I highly recommend playing this with your browser handy; its just not worth your time to wait on the Knowledge Vault codes, or to try to remember to come back to random safes that can be scattered around areas. Do yourself a favor and just save time with Google. Other than that, its been a 10/10 game for me so far and I'm legitimately surprised I hadn't heard more about this game at its launch.
Overall, excellent game. Very interesting main story that ties into a very lore heavy world. It does a good job balancing those large amounts of lore with an actual story and progression. The world, art, enemy sound effects and music give such a haunting and uncomfortable feeling when playing that perfectly sets the tone. I originally thought this game was a souls like, which is kind of is but with a larger focus on horror and instilling a feeling of dread and discomfort in the player. The combat is decent and feels good but it doesn't grow in complexity as the game goes on and really more serves to keep things interesting between puzzles and POIs. The puzzles are cool but not too difficult, and a lot of the time just require having found a book or audio log to solve.
Amazing game! The music is incredible and the world feels incredibly unique with its own distinct style. It is a beautiful game with interesting lore, cool riddles and great puzzles. My only complaint is the amount of backtracking, but overall, it is not a big deal. Highly recommended!
