About
Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game that combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey.
As well as the civil war dividing the country, the region is suffering from a mysterious calamity, which has given rise to supernatural creatures that no modern weapon can defeat. Your drone and sword from a different age are your faithful allies as you cut a path through lands infested with terrifying chimeras and try to unravel the mystery of their appearance.
No map, no compass, no quest markers: following your instincts is part of the adventure. Enjoy a unique experience that uses innovative writing and level design to let you make your own decisions and follow your instincts as you explore. Your discoveries are yours alone.
Swords, spears and axes: a wide range of weapons forged specially for fighting these supernatural creatures is available. You will need to learn how to fight these monsters and use your drone wisely to stay alive.
''The central theme of Hell is Us is that human violence is a perpetual cycle fueled by human emotions and passions.'' – Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Creative Director

Hell is Us delivers a great start, but loses its wings pretty quickly. The first chapter is a fantastic experience. After that, the maps get smaller, and you keep fighting the same limited pool of enemies that gradually become harder by gaining new attacks and more health. Unfortunately, the combat isn’t deep enough to stay engaging, and the exploration starts to feel like a chore once you realize the rewards aren’t worth the trouble. I’m not sure if I’ll keep playing, but I bought the game at a heavy discount, and I already feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth.
The game is amazing, if your looking for a game with a deep story. I played my first run through on the easiest setting and even lowering the the damage out put of the enemies as the game (for me) was kinda souls like which i dont really enjoy but dont let that fool you it is still punishing if you dont evade and/or block attacks. Myself i grew up with games having no path trackers, maps etc. and now that im older and the old think box is old it was hard to track where remember which NPC's wanted what. So i cheated alot with walkthroughs, most with the puzzles as some are damn hard as there is little info if you're not looking on where to look. Combat is simple with most of the time its hack and slash and some abilites with the runes you put into your weapons. And sometimes camera angles were a bother ecspecially at the start of the game. And my fav weapons were the twin axes, they the smallest amount of damage but they are quick and you can stagger enemies alot more than the other weapons, Which are 2H sword, Sword and Polearm/Halberd and you get 1 of each Sin (Rage, Ecstasy, Grief and Terror) My rating is 8/10 and im really looking forward Hell is us 2
very intriguing and lore driven game. great puzzles. highly recommend taking your time and not missing anything in each act. There is no going back and back tracking a save so if you miss an opportunity for good deeds in particular. you will have to start a new game to get them all that can make this game a bit tedious. the time loops and puzzles leave something to do in the post game, however if you clear them in the first completion, it leaves the post game very barren. overall very engaging and thought provoking game highly recommend i wish there was more! I love the style and wish there were more costumes than hats. definitely looking out for any sequels and other games from this dev.
4 Stunden gespielt. Bisher sehr stimmig. Also was für Entdecker ;)
Je me régale
Hell Is Us is an amazing game and a graphical masterpiece. The story is dark and gloomy, creating an eerie atmosphere that keeps you engaged. The enemies are spooky and hollow, adding to the game's unsettling world. While the combat is somewhat lackluster, the healing mechanics help make up for that weakness. The puzzles are both amazing and frustrating. They require a lot of backtracking, which can become annoying at times, but they also make solving them feel rewarding. Unfortunately, the achievements are buggy. Most of the time, I had to quit the game and relaunch it before achievements would unlock properly. Overall, Hell Is Us delivers a memorable experience thanks to its incredible visuals, haunting atmosphere, and unique world. Despite its weak combat and buggy achievements, it's still a game that's well worth playing.
Maybe Hell is our friends we made along the way (also the big fat man with a hat shouting "obviously you didn't die, start over") Haven't finished the game though, might do it some time later I really like the atmosphere, the background and the worldview of the game, puzzle solving is pretty interesting, and GOD, the music and sound effects are astonishing. The story is okay(better with the worldview and stuff), the combat is okay too (I would say less satisfying than a fight-focused game but this is a puzzle solving game so it suffices) But the downsides are also pretty significant to me, which also leads to me not playing for a while First is that I feel like the whole game is too static and repetitive. To me it's just collecting things and fighting the same enemies over and over again, and since there's not really much story/character development going on, all the things feel a little bland Second is that there's so many bugs! The most prominent bug I get is that you sometimes can't interact(speak, trade) with a NPC at all until you quit and join. This had an impact on me since it happens on a very important NPC and took me a while to realize. Other bugs include unable to select items to trade, not able to block/charge attacks in combat, and enemies behaving weirdly(flying, canceling attacks) In conclusion, this game has a very good base, their art/music is really good and the worldview is really interesting. However, if you're heavily dependent on playing by building momentum, or want games with less bug, then this game probably won't suit you.
