About
Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game that combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey.
As well as the civil war dividing the country, the region is suffering from a mysterious calamity, which has given rise to supernatural creatures that no modern weapon can defeat. Your drone and sword from a different age are your faithful allies as you cut a path through lands infested with terrifying chimeras and try to unravel the mystery of their appearance.
No map, no compass, no quest markers: following your instincts is part of the adventure. Enjoy a unique experience that uses innovative writing and level design to let you make your own decisions and follow your instincts as you explore. Your discoveries are yours alone.
Swords, spears and axes: a wide range of weapons forged specially for fighting these supernatural creatures is available. You will need to learn how to fight these monsters and use your drone wisely to stay alive.
''The central theme of Hell is Us is that human violence is a perpetual cycle fueled by human emotions and passions.'' – Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Creative Director

Reviews
some great material (lore, setting and locales, cool enemy design) bogged down and diluted through far too much mediocrity (dull combat, zero enemy variety, too many caves, too long). this would've been better as a game half as long with much, much less combat and a bigger focus on being a civil war reporter x occult archeologist. still, a positive review because i appreciate the vision and respect the final fantasy namedrops.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Only 18 hours in but I'm loving this. The exploration and puzzle solving is so fun. This game runs great on my set up and is visually beautiful to play. This is a true hidden gem of a game!
good game if you like exploration and puzzles (which I do). kinda mid combat tho, and the story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. the worldbuilding is pretty good though, and unraveling the truth of what's going on is done mostly through investigating side locations, rather than in the main quest itself. In fact if I think you just mainlined the main quest you'd be pretty confused by the end of the game. hope the next game has less of a steep curve when encountering the final tier of enemies and also more responsive controls. still enjoyed my time playing this though!
Jogo fora da curva, como não via há tempos! Videogame DE VERDADE, em sua melhor forma!
its fine. ran n steamdeck with are occasional frame drops when running too fast. some quests are not intuitive, couple boss fights felt bad but the art writting and music are solid. wouldhave enjoed it more if there were less enemies o no fighting t all. don't care for te sequel bait at the end. maybe try the game when is seven dollars
J'adore, l'histoire est intéréssante et le style de jeu est nouveau avec des touches plus connu. c'est rafraichissant de jouer à un jeu qui ne nous tien pas pas par la main.
Absolutely recommending this game... So far it's been amazing. Huge vibes and intelligent/mature gameplay. Loving the pacing and really enjoying having to work everything out myself. Everything feels very thoughtful which makes it a pleasure to play. Will update more when I'm a bit further in... After 7 Hours... Wow!! The second section in the town is HUGE!! So much to take in and investigate. So many people to talk to and so many mysteries to solve. Making a load of notes and taking photos as I go round. The combat is awesome and feels pretty good when you get the hang of it. The vibes are spot on...feeling very motivated to work it all out and help those in need. A tad overwhelming but learning to step through it one thing at a time. Still very happy... After 20 Hours... It just keeps getting better. The pacing, the characters, the script, the story...the combat...the environments. It's pure class. So nice to play a good game again. Can't find anything to moan about and that's a first for a modern game this year. The way the story unfolds is awesome...I real am enjoying every moment of this game. The puzzles are getting tougher and they are beginning to annoy me quite a bit. I hope in the sequel, if there is one, that the dev's supply the player with tools to tie up facts and info WITHIN the game. The PDA thing is cool but I'd like it to take photo's I can then add notes to. Having to use my own iPad to make notes and photos takes you out of the game. Why not give the player the tools to manage data collection in their own way...linking texts to photos and so on. It would only improve the immersion and feeling of investigation... After 30 Hours... OK, this is becoming exhausting. I love what they've done in this game, blending genres and all that BUT after 30 hours I've gotta be honest, it's starting to feel like a job! Investigating and solving mysteries is great and I enjoy that a lot. The action is challenging and I enjoy that a lot too. The level design is cryptic and maze like and I do enjoy discovering a new area and learning all of the routes BUT to have all these 3 components put together!! It's a lot to take in, especially when the lore is so integral to the games progression and your own understanding of why you're doing what you're doing. It's really intelligent and prophetic. The story is excellent, absolutely love how it's a mirror image of our world. Must've been cool writing it and seeing it get OK'd for publishing as there is a lot of criticism of our modern world wrapped up in the story. It's just that by making every part of the game a challenge, the feat of completing will feel like such a fight and commitment to get there. None of it is bad it's just it get's tiring real quick when every place you enter has the same messed up routing to navigate it. It can be so frustrating when you just want to save and can't even work you way back out of an area due to all of the up's and down's you need to remember, I honestly got so sick of it and found the level design to be a real grind by the end of the game. Some way to map an area and note paths would be real helpful as, again, getting my iPad out every 5mins for something was a real vibe killer... I'm not sure how to be helpful in my criticism but with new ideas like this it's hard to know what's wrong and right. Another thing I'm rushing through is the combat. I've been given so many items and stuff I honestly don't know what to do with it all. The game's hard so I just stick to what works. The game is not providing time, info or situation to allow the time to experiment. I have used one weapon and just maxed it out as it works well but now I'm at level 3 enemies and it's obvious I've misunderstood something along the way as the fights are now really tough to win and require a lot more time and buffs. I've wondered if different emotions/colours work against other emotions/colours but I can't say if there's any truth in that...just not sure how to understand the combat beyond the basics. Does rage vs rage mean less damage? If I use yellow against blue is it stronger than say using red (rage?)??? Also not using the drone much apart from the distract feature...just doesn't really feel needed. After 40 Hours and Completion... At last!! The last part was tough not because it was hard but due to being fed up with the same approach to puzzles and combat being used over and over. It's not bad but it was very frustrating and the sequel needs to provide more enjoyment to the player to provide motivation to carry on pushing through. The rewards became very small for working stuff out. Having to wait to the end of the game to help someone only for them to say "thanks" didn't really justify the mystery, the build up and the like. Looking back at it the design approach feels like : "We'll just make a normal game, spread stuff out and let the player work out what to do." Thing is, there was only ever one thing to do...it's linear but they just "randomised" the item locations so you have to spend time going out and finding them. Obvious I know but in reality the mystery just fell apart. The first half really was the best bit....the second half proved that all of your hard work meant nothing...which kinda sucked. The story wraps up real quick...just left me feeling odd. 7.5/10 Good game but I hope the sequel improves on this initial design. It has so much potential but all 3 components of lore, action and item collection all being puzzle like needs to be made more rewarding and more enjoyable. To have tools within the game for photo's and notes would be much more immersive. Having moments of all out action in between moments of puzzles would be good but respect the player and ensure puzzle solutions don't include faffing around a maze like map at the same time. If the dev's enjoy making people do puzzles then maybe focus more on the puzzles and remove the action as I think it's confusing for most players. It looks like a souls-like but it's so far from that ideology... Hard to explain how i feel but overall it was a good journey...
