Halftime Heroes

As a huge fan of survivor-like games and despite buying this a few years ago, giving this a shot now was a giant waste of time. It's absolutely NOT challenging whatsoever. Within a few levels, I was overpowered quicker than I have been in any other game. It turned into an AFK simulator. I actually found myself actively trying to die and thankfully, I was finally able to. The reroll function didn't seem to work. The added stats like intelligence, strength, etc. didn't seem to really add anything, aside from HP regen from strength. The "waves" happen far too often and don't seem to add any more enemies or too much variety. The bosses were a joke, killing them in one shot. I played the Mage and have zero interest in unlocking any other character, progression or levels. The first level is rather small and boring. I normally don't write reviews for games, but after this waste of time, this all needed to be said. Save your money and time and try out other successful and better games in this genre.

It's very much a minimum viable product as such things go - twice the price with half the apparent effort compared to peers in the genre. Ideas are present but under-developed - enemies do not have differing behaviors, they arrive in waves that are literally indistinguishable, your weapons have a lot of overlap in behaviors, each increase of weapon level or character stat is mostly invisible, and the math underneath it all is jank in a lazy rather than fun or at least interesting way. (Damage of main weapons is in the tens-to-low-hundreds range, boosted by stats. Damage of synergy weapons have base damage in the thousands-to-low-tens-of-thousands range. In other words, you only level base weapons to get to synergy weapons, then they may as well not even be there.) Having the ability to roll a custom character, picking a class perk and starting weapon from any unlocked, is a good thought but does not rescue the game.

once you get the spells down its easy but still fun. becomes more of an afk farm game for a few hours if you play longer than the 2 hours needed to get all achievements

Hmmm - Nothing new, nothing specific or interesting, just another Bullet Heaven. But the gameplay loop is satisfying, and even if the enemies / envorinment look generic, the spell look&feel is great, and it doesn't overstay its welcome - Within 9 hours I had all achievements and everything important unlocked (don't care if I start with 3 or 4 extra stat points, full unlock may take another 4-5 hours). So if you are a fan of the genre and have some spare change, less than a coffee in many places, don't hesitate to buy. You get your moneys worth out of this (but not much more)

Great fun, fair price and runs smooth.

I like the design of the game, you could have different combos to play in every rounds.
