After playing the sequel, I was curious about the original game (which I've never played before now), so I got it bundled in with the Valve Complete Pack during a sale. Here's some pros and cons I came up with based on my experience: Pros: -Cheap on sale -Proton friendly -Small file size and quick download time -Has difficulty modes tailored to your skill level (I chose medium) -Very entertaining -You can save the game ANYTIME, even during the final boss! (which may make the game a bit too easy for some people) -You can
explode someone's casserole
Cons: -Kind of steep learning curve -Noobs (myself included), can get softlocked easily -You have to ration your ammo sometimes, which kind of makes it harder to progress -Sometimes I would die and the error "ED_alloc: No edicts yet" happened. I googled it, and it sounds like it's a corrupted save file, so all you have to do is making a new save. Besides the cons that mostly arise from my skill issue, It's a pretty good game, and I HIGHLY recommend it to both people who have never played a valve game, and to people who play valve games, but haven't tried out this gem.
