About
It's a weird time for fans of modern tank combat games. The straight-shooting simulator titles from the turn of the millennium are no more. As tank nerds, we need a game that gets right to the good stuff - modern tanks, realistic system and damage models, and a focus on fun over all.
With Gunner, HEAT, PC! we aim to make that dream a reality.
GHPC will blend game and simulation in just the right amounts, providing awesome fire control and ballistics simulation behind deceptively simple controls. This core feature set serves as the foundation for a rich single player campaign mode, skirmish missions, and (eventually) cooperative multiplayer modes: a satisfying option for every taste. And let's not forget about infantry and support units - tanks weren't built to fight alone. AI-controlled combined arms forces will round out the tactical environment and let armored units shine the way they were meant to.
We're making a great tank game because that's what we want to play.
GHPC features a fictional conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in central Germany circa 1985. Play as armored units from the United States, Soviet Union, German Democratic Republic, and Federal Republic of Germany.

It is amazing in the sense that it is much more realistic to War Thunder (with no grind) but not as complex as Steel Beasts, perfect for those who don't feel like reading hundreds of pages of manuals to enjoy a realistic tank game.

Constant addition of minor features, like tenth Leopard-1 or Marder sub-variant, does not hide a sad true. Development of this game stalled miserably. After 4-5 years we still did not get dynamic campaign, mission editor and multiplayer. I cannot even count all those bugs, AI flaws and graphic glitches still present in game. I feel small development team and early-access model in this niche genre are not capable of delivering fully functional product in a reasonable time.
It's good game, but why doesn't the language support chinese?
Now I am wondering why I dumped over 200 dollars on War Thunder, when there's this. It's definitely a much more immersive and realistic experience, with excellent voice acting and faithfulness to the real vehicles. Right now, the narrative of the game is based around what would have happened if the Cold War turned hot in Germany. You can play as American, West German, Soviet or East German. Missions range from reconnaissance sabotage to mechanised infantry support. Sometimes you can call in the A-10, which is pretty cool. One thing I would say is the campaign mode is still a little unpolished, with the random mission generation often producing duplicate situations, but I'm sure the developers are working hard to improve it. Besides, the Instant Action choice provides you with quite a lot of content to play already. There are some funny Easter egg missions as well. As the case is with many work in progress games, it can be quite graphically demanding. But as of the 20th of March 2026, the game's optimisation has VASTLY improved. Now I can run a very stable 90 fps at 1440p looking directly at engine smoke, whereas before, it would kill the framerate even at 1080p. Now you can run trees over. How cool is that?! Even before this update I still managed to get a decent experience using Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics on my old laptop at 1080p resolution, so it's worth getting if you aren't too worried about aesthetics at lower-end settings. I look forward to the addition of more vehicles and mechanisms in the future!
Warthunder, but realistic. And solo play only right now so no sweats to ruin your day.
Average at best. The somewhat immersive experience is ultimately ruined by a rather empty battlefield and AI enemies engaging you through bushes. What's worse is that the controls are rather clunky and that the game runs pretty terribly. Zooming into burning vehicles maxxes out the GPU for no reason, considering that GPHC looks like a game made 10 years ago. Yes, niche market and small development team. I get all of that. But considering it's reaching the 4 year mark of Early Access and seeing that about 200K units have been sold (according to sensortower at the time of writing) then it's pretty certain that GPHC is not being properly developed and won't ever see a satisfactory state.
This game has been in development for a long time. The new AI update has completely revolutionized the game. It is so much more engaging now. The update has really tied all the developer's work together.
just a very shallow game once you get past the eye candy and the niche aiming mechanics. the game looks cool and has an interesting aesthetic, but the actual gameplay is unbelievably bad. AI will still shoot you through bushes from 1km away after a patch that supposedly fixed this, infantry missiles will track you over hilltops like top-attack javelins and you are seriously expected to engage helicopters with tank main guns. the AI, which is tied to your lose condition, will get torn apart if not babysitted to the point of pre-planning every single thing that they do. unfortunately, i paid for a tank tactics game, and not an RTS. a lot of small issues like this constantly pile up in every mission and make you question why you're even playing it in the first place. to be honest, this game sits in a deeply unsatisfying middle ground between a true simulator experience and something more arcade-y. it has most of the hassle of a sim with too little of the fun/goofy parts of a game. you're probably better off with one of the two extremes, and if you're good enough at tactics or ranging gunfire, you'd enjoy something like steel beasts or IL2 tank crew far more.
