Fighting games were really not my thing when i purchased this game. I only got it for 20 dollars. but honestly the game was so enjoyable to me even as a complete beginner (thanks to the tutorials and missions the game generously supplies you with) that i ended buying all of the dlc (they were on discount at the time) and while it's arguably really greedy of arc sys to put characters behind a paywall, at the very least, if nothing else, the characters are really well-balanced. Leo Whitefang and Potemkin are really good characters and they come with the game! and honestly, I've gotten tens of hours of fun just learning new characters. Especially if you're employed, this is the perfect game to get into, because unlike having to spend long sessions to progress in games like minecraft and terraria (which are good games) a fighting game like this can be picked up and dropped at any time. It's really fun to have something I don't have to consistently play every day (i do play it every day tho because it is really fun, there are levels to ts) i have 130+ hours and I've only learned how to play aba, leo, and kind of learned zato. it's crazy the amount of enjoyment there comes from trying to master a character and picking up a new one once you've had enough fun with the last one. it's great!
A great starting point for those looking to enter the fighting game genre. I find that the most important aspect of a fighting game is the cast and guilty gear strive has one of the most unique and interesting casts i’ve seen, every character is beautifully designed and full of life. The game is easy to pickup (for a fighting game) and the community is very helpful in learning the game, with tons of guides online on how characters and system mechanics work (toko’s video is probably one of the best general beginner’s guide you can find however i also suggest looking at krackatoa’s neutral video as it is as entertaining as it is helpful). The soundtrack is amazing + is all free on spotify and worth the listen. Overall one of my favourite games however it can be hard to find matches at unreasonable hours when an update hasn’t just dropped, but the game is lively enough when you play at the expected times. Very fun and much love to all my fellow faust mains ❤️.
