good
Quite difficult to get into or understand but pretty fun and good music.
Absolutely terrific WITH A CAVEAT. This online functionality makes me so incredibly angry every single time I boot the game. In Street Fighter 6, you hit start and right bumper and are immediately at an option screen to play with your friends. Older fighting games often use steam accounts, so connection is very simple. This game INSISTS that you interface with a pixel puppet platforming social space even to play with the only person you play the game with. It is a humiliation ritual, annoying, and often leads to extended periods where me and my friend accidentally mismatch modes and, because it must be always online, it takes 30 seconds to a minute to get back on track. Lesser complaints are that the game strikes as perhaps slightly predatory in its pricing model and that the style sometimes nosedives into cringe anime too far for me to ignore. All of that being said: fun game! guilty gear has a very unique shared move list, with every character being able to cancel 90% of the moves at any moment. On top of that. the burst system carries a lot of weight as well, leading to the game being full of knowledge checks in high level play. The base roster comes with a few characters I take absolutely no interest in, but the DLC characters have somebody for everybody at this point.
