I bought this purely for Salamander III and wasn't disappointed. Though I do have to say the presentation for the other games was remarkably solid. Having different versions of the game selectable, with explanations on what makes them different, is very nice. As is the free controller rebinding, rapid fire, CRT filters, the whole gamut. I wish this collection had the remaining arcade games (Gradius IV, Solar Assault, probably more I can't remember right now) but it's solid for what it is. Definitely get it on sale though!

I loved the NES versions of these games as a kid, as well as the few arcade versions I got to play. They're still a lot of fun, and I'm glad to own them again and support Konami, as opposed to playing ROMs of these for so many years.
Personally I am not a big fan of the first three Gradius games. I know it's weird to say that in a review of Gradius Origins, buuuut I'm here for Salamander. And on top of perfect ports of Salamander 1 and 2 (2 being in my top 3 shoot 'em ups of all time) there is also a Salamander 3!! Which is great. Yes it is a little rushed, yes it is a little easy, but it feels like Salamander and it feels like the 3rd game we never got back in the day. So 10/10 M2. Now please make a Gradius Origins 2 Collection with Gradius Gaiden and Gradius Rebirth in it. Pretty please.
