Simply "dodge, shoot, and destroy" without any extra baggage.
Devil Blade Reboot strictly follows a strict design concept that pursues
catharsis of shmups to the extreme.
But, as they say... no pain, no gain! If you want to enhance your score,
you will have to shoot down enemies in close proximity. The closer they are,
the higher the score multiplier. With the Berserk System,
dangerous play is the way to climb the ladder, as high risk brings high reward.

Rendered in the original native 320x240 resolution of the classics,

Sometimes good games come from unexpected places. Devil Blade REBOOT is a modern remake of a homebrew shoot’em up originally created with Dezaemon Plus, a Japan-exclusive PS1 game creation tool. Think RPG Maker, but for shmups. It’s a fascinating origin story that gives this release a bit of underdog charm. At its core, Devil Blade REBOOT revolves around a simple but effective risk-versus-reward mechanic. The closer you fly to enemy ships and bullets, the higher your score multiplier climbs. However, the game doesn’t let you farm points for free: as your multiplier increases, so does the game’s difficulty. This creates a constant push-and-pull between playing safely and chasing bigger scores, adding tension to every encounter. The package is surprisingly generous for such a short game. Alongside the main campaign, players can unlock additional continues, a gallery mode, the original soundtrack, and even a retro mode that lets you experience the original Dezaemon Plus version. These extras help flesh out the release and offer a nice glimpse into the game’s history. Visually, the game gets the job done, but it never truly stands out. The graphics are perfectly serviceable and the art direction is decent enough, though it often feels constrained by the limitations of the original source material. Nothing looks bad, but nothing left a lasting impression either. One area where I think Devil Blade REBOOT falls a little short is in its overall depth. After playing games like Drainus, I couldn’t help but feel that Drainus offered a more fully realized experience. The game is also very short. With only five stages and a final boss standing between you and the credits, most players will see everything the game has to offer in a relatively short amount of time. That said, I still recommend Devil Blade REBOOT. Not every shoot’em up needs to be a brutal bullet-hell marathon designed for genre veterans. This is an approachable, welcoming shmup that introduces its mechanics clearly and remains enjoyable without demanding superhuman reflexes. If you’re curious about the genre or simply looking for a compact, well-made arcade experience, Devil Blade REBOOT is an easy recommendation.
Devil Blade Reboot is a must-have for any shmup/arcade enjoyer, to simplify what is good about it. 1. The berserk mode which you can use to sacrifice one of your bombs for higher score count, it encourages you to go more bold and destroy as many enemies as possible for the highest possible score 2. The wide and narrow shot makes sense where the wide shot makes you quicker so you actually have to switch it to dodge particular attcks or quick boss patterns, it's more than just preference 3. My favourite part is how enemies who are about to approach or particular attacks show a visor on screen on where they will appear, it makes dodging much more fun than just "random" or extreme memory memorization 4. The music is incredibly great with its metal musc, the game really makes you grit your teeth when the boss gets more serious, the music gets more intense as you dodge bullets! 5. 1CC actually is very player friendly for people who aren't that good at shmups. It isn't as investing as other shmups, even for failed attempts you get coins for where you can buy stuff like the "original Devil Blade" backgrounds, music, art etc. The only weak part of the game is stage 4 where its a locked sequence of attacks of a ship which is a bit too easy, but it makes up for it for the boss.
if anyone says they think this game is bad they're lying, this is a modern masterpiece.
It is a mixed bag: the presentation is great and gameplay snappy. The scoring seems to be too one dimensional though: point blanking is the name of the game. That is not to say it is easy on hard or inferno difficulty -- it does take some serious routing and skill to pull off. I think there could be more scaling on the difficulty -- maybe each difficulty should have an inferno mode, or the inferno mode itself would scale from more easy to very difficult like a ranking system. Easy and normal difficulties are very welcoming for a newbie. Visual clarity could be better and the graphical options more clear: integer scaling would be appreciated. I was a bit let down with this purchase but I'll definitely play more and update the review if needed.
Awesome :)
One of the best shmups i've ever played, hands down. Lots of achievements and unlocks to pursue, game is newcomer friendly and has difficulty modes to suit even the hardcore players!
Looks amazing. Gameplay is fun. Accessible if you want to play it on normal mode. Great entry level shmup.
童顏回憶 好玩
Nails the always difficult "vertizontal" aspect ratio. Instant classic.
Si te gustan los SHUMPS este juego no puede faltar en tu colección. Lo tiene todo, me lleva a cuando jugaba en los salones recreativos, una orgia visual y sonora que nadie debería perderse.
