90s inspired but with modern sensibilities, this game moves quick. No punishing memorization walls, it's all about moving and shooting and it does it well. Paired with the super fun Hirokkey soundtrack, fans of Terarin's previous games will feel right at home here.
This is an intensely fun solid shooter where everything feels, looks and sounds just right and nothing gets in the way of its solid essence. Fast enemies and bullets make it hard to resist holding down the fire button for dear life, but rewards you for letting off of it to charge your shot's strength for bursts of power (key to score-chaining and melting boss HP efficiently). That's about as far as gimmicks go, which is how I personally like my shooters: Solid and focused. And can I say how refreshing it is to have no bombs to dilemma yourself with? It's also one of those shooters that punishes hard for losing a ship, but recovering back to full upgrades is fairly quick and there's a forgiving shield power up at least once on every stage. It feels like just the right amount of tension for my middling skill level, where losing a ship doesn't ruin a 1CC run on its own, but it keeps your attention satisfyingly focused. For difficulty, I'd say it's tuned just right on Hard mode for most regular shmup players. The difficulty is fair and it's a very achievable 1CC for almost anyone. It's worth noting that Terra Flame is singleplayer only, much like the Thunder Force series that we can assume inspired it. Despite I always value a 2P options in shmups, it's clear how much of a poor fit it would be for this type of game. If Moon Dancer is like RayForce and Raging Blasters is to Star Soldier, Terra Flame shows that TERARIN can do Thunder Force just as well, and understands exactly how to give that intense style of action and a suitably excellent soundtrack.
Super fast paced horizontal shmup with an excellent sense of constant risk and reward. Pretty challenging and accessible with multiple difficulty options, caravan mode and leaderboards. I was surprised by the level of polishment to the encounter design, weapons and resource management. Despite being a very fast shmup, everything ties together into a well balanced and fun experience, which is something pretty hard to achieve in a fast paced game like this. I could notice some inspiration from Thunder Force and Darius, good stuff. Charmful presentation, thrilling non stop action, highly recommended!
Terrain's STG homages are the best in the biz. Terra Flame captures the speed and substance of the Thunder Force games while maintaining Terrain's score-chaining house style. Low enough challenge floor for novices to get a clear, high enough ceiling to keep veterans engaged. Exhilirating all the way through.
A jogabilidade é precisa e fluida, agradando tanto veteranos do gênero quanto iniciantes. ....... \_☠_ ▄▂_ .........[█|||███████]▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▃▂ ..__▂▅█ Mafia do Retrogame █▅▄▃▂ I████████████████████████████] ...◥⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲◤ MAFIA DO RETROGAME - YOUTUBE @mafiadoretrogame https://www.youtube.com/@mafiadoretrogame MAFIA DA GAMEPLAY https://www.youtube.com/@mafiadagameplay GAMEPLAY ATÉ ZERAR! https://youtu.be/KOEXI-SdFG4
Another great old-school style shmup from Terarin. This one feels more like a homage to Thunder Force (same initials too!) Terarin's art is getting better with each release too, no need to wait for upgraded Switch port art for this one :)
This is one of the tougher Terarin releases. Careful! I suggest to use the charged shots whenever you can, so you'll want to stop shooting from time to time. Also the game works perfectly.
