overheated and underrated. the aesthetic is definitely different from the arkham games but it has its own charm
Just to beat bad guys is worth it
not as boring as i thought.
I recommend this game.
Ah Gotham knights, a game that nobody really liked until suicide squad released and then people started praising this as an underrated gem just so they could hate on Suicide squad. Those people were morons who clearly didn’t play this game at all. I should start off by being positive and listing the games few pros, albeit minor, but still pros nonetheless. The graphics looked decent, good even. Ok now that I’ve gotten the mandatory “be positive” requirement out of the way, I can talk about how awful this game truly is. Let me tell you right now, the gameplay is atrocious. Freaking atrocious alright? Everything feels so slow, the movement, the combat and boss fights, even driving the motorcycle, EVERYTHING, feels slow. None of it feels fast paced at all or action packed and intense like Arkham origins or Arkham city, the gameplay just sucks in general dude. Suicide squad’s gameplay meanwhile was actuallh pretty fun and fast paced. Yeah you can argue it gets a bit repetitive, but it’s a heck of a lot more fun than I ever had with Gotham knights. Moving on, another issue with this game is that the city, or rather the setting, of this game doesn’t feel alive at all. It just feels empty, like they just plastered what they thought looked cool or good. It’s so boring to move through the city, it feels slow. The level up and grind is like a basic ass rpg system. Nothing wrong with an rpg leveling up system, but let me tell you that this kind of system does NOT belong in a Batman game. The characters abilities are boring as heck too, literally just 4 parts of what Batman could do spread out to 4 characters. They should be unique, different, stand out from Batman in their own way but they’re just one note. Suicide squad’s characters have their own unique play styles. Yeah admittedly they all have guns which is kinda boring, but they still have vastly different abilities and stand out from each other and are pretty fun to play. Speaking of characters, can we talk about how boring the characters of this game are? It doesn’t really feel like there’s any emotion or soul put into the characters of this story. Everybody feels so freaking basic. Jason acts like the stereotypical brute, Barbara the stereotypical genius girl, Tim the stereotypical sidekick, and Grayson the stereotypical leader of the group. It’s all so one note. Moving onto the story, it’s mid as heck, bad even. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get into the story at all. I didn’t really have any kind of emotional investment into it. At the very least I’ll give them credits for actually giving Batman respect and a proper sendoff unlike suicide squad, but that’s literally the only good thing out of this story. Yeah obviously suicide squad’s story is the worst of all time and Gotham knights is better in story, but even then it’s mediocre at BEST. AT BEST I TELL YOU. And at the very least, suicide squad’s humor lands half of the time and makes me laugh. At the end of the day, Gotham knights is probably one of my most hated games ever. Everytning either outright sucks or is mediocre at best. Yea suicide squad is awful, but I actually really liked the games gameplay as well as making fun of the story. Suicide squad, at least in my own opinion, is a much better game than Gotham knights. I’m so sick of people acting like Gotham knights is suddenly an underrated gem just to hate on suicide squad because if you actually played the game, you’d know that Gotham knights is much worse than suicide squad. I TRIED 3 SEPARATE TIMES TO PLAY THROUGH GOTHAM KNIGHTS. All 3 times, I never made it past a quarter into the game because it was that boring. 1/10 game.
“ 6hours of gameplay and I loved it! I wish there were more NBC content and some hot girls.”
I dont usually write negative reviews on games but i really just didnt feel this one. I can see what they were trying and experimenting with and i applaud the effort of the community that worked on this game because the art is great! i love the rep in this game. DC in general is just such a good community (most the time) and i REALLY recommend reading comics and playing the arkham games. this game is for people that really love to just go around and fight random npcs because thats honestly kind of the whole game which imo, was really repetitive. if thats what your into, go for it! I always remember that the people who make these games arent a collective. they dont have some kind of alien hivemind. they think for themselves and contribute in their own ways. but in my opinion, this game really just didnt stick the landing. the controls are weird and funky and i got sick of the movement super fast, the voice acting doesnt feel genuine and the story just didnt interest me at all. not once did i laugh or feel sad for characters. it was a little goofy when it wasnt trying to be which broke the vibe a lot when it actually built one. but come on, its a superhero game. its going to be a little cheesy but usually the corniness really works with the environment. i cant say the same about this one. the plot doesnt make any sense especially around the beginning and end and i couldnt stop just wondering "Why though?" if you want to ignore warnings and rebel against conforming with the crowd, go for it! this game goes on sale pretty often so definitely dont buy it when its at its full price.
its fine but i liked arkham knight better
i like the game ty for making it :)
