Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have to log into a Microsoft account to play, -17/10
it's 7/10 game bad things: - ms account is required - very limited amount of unique missions - the item system is boring, the endless stream of things which are mostly +5% to some stat - the skill tree is boring, would be better if the game has a reduced set with skills which affect a gameplay in a significant way - the cooldown system for skills and grenades doesn't work in most missions because there is no turn limit

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

At first I thought this would be just pointless spin-off without much thought, but in the end I got a great X-COM like strategy game. The mechanics are fun and intuitive, shooting or chainsawing locusts is great as always, even in strategic view and element. The graphics are awesome as well, cutscenes are as good as mainline games. Surprisingly good.
L'histoire n'a AUCUNE profondeur.
I wouldn't pay more then $10. Kept experience game play issue. Game locking and crashing. Also requiring a Microsoft account was a big let down for me when it's on steam. Like why log in twice.
I wish they made a second for this game
I'm quite indifferent to the GOW series, however this game scratch the XCOM hitch well. It's nicely balanced, the production value is great.
Built Like A Fridge
There will be a TL;DR at the end. ~ XCOM 2 is a Legendary game. It’s one of my favorites. I’m glad that Microsoft Game Studios took an interest in emulating the excellence of that experience in a title of their own. Splash Damage should be proud with their accomplishment - the end result is excellent by many means, which is why I’ve put so many hours into this experience. There are some amazing things here that are done even better than in titles such as Xenonauts or XCOM - the “Action Point” system allows for good variation in combat and lots of opportunities for skills ; tons and tons of customization options for your troopers down to the texture of armor ; massive skill trees with 4 branches (unlike the 2 from XCOM) ; Loads of loot, perks, and variation for troops ; upgrades give lots of nuance in troop design ; Gears enemies are interesting to combat against ; simple tempo of 3 side missions between story beats. There are also some missteps here - like the bland story ; poor AI ; frustratingly poor difficulty ramp ; lack of variety ; bad late-game balancing ; underwhelming level generation ; large HP numbers make damage instances unreliable ; static team size ; speedy tanks and lumbering glass cannons ; and no true base actions such as research. The title really builds up and not out. Similar to the characters of the Gears of War franchise, it’s stacked like a bodybuilder wearing a freezer for armor - but doesn’t have anything deep going on behind those eyes. When you get further into the game, the enemy variety dries up - there aren’t many interesting foes to fell in the field - and the game chooses to make simple enemies massive bullet sponges rather than increase the intricacy. To someone who has never played XCOM this may be a fantastic experience in its own right, but in comparison to the intricate complexity and infinite creativity of the industry-defining series over this, it’s an unfair comparison. In XCOM players manage a base ; have tons of different armor setups, fight mechanical abominations ; psycher enemies with psionic abilities ; factory-built soldiers and genetic amalgamations ; eclectic extraterrestrial races with varied weapons ; There’s buildings to construct ; projects to manage ; research to conclude ; and - in the field - hard angles to consider carefully with an expanding team of 4-6 soldiers with 8+ classes to employ between them all. In Gears Tactics you don’t manage a base ; collect armor with increasing rarity from random drops ; the same small pool of locust enemies ; each class has only 1 weapon to consider, and enemies don’t add much new ; there’s nothing to manage outside of the combat encounters ; fight enemies such as little guy, normal guy, nerd with rifle, guy with shotgun, healey guy, big boi - and the classic gym bro that can mark your soldier and guarantee hit them from behind cover in the same turn It feels like the core concepts of the game are better considered and more inspired than in other titles within the same genre. It’s a lot of fun tailoring your soldiers into unique forces on the battlefield by selecting their skills, armor, and equipment to specialize them. The missions are fun and can be intense in many respects with lots of opportunities and variation in plays. Because each soldier can do anything between shooting 3 times to using 3 abilities to moving - reloading - and executing a downed foe… it has a lot of chances to make the same setups turn out with radically different solutions. There is an interesting factor to this, but it’s clearly less concise and carefully constructed as the Firaxis titles. Especially towards the latter portions of the game, it becomes very samey and languid - with the same baddies and tanky boys rushing your positions with additive effects and cheap effects. It begins to feel like an uphill battle without the promise of increased complexity or nuance. Splash Damage did themselves proud. While they didn’t come close to rivaling the powerhouse franchise that inspired this title, they surely landed a few blows and created an entertaining experience in its own right. Like a fridge, it is bulky and unwieldy - it's loud and heavy - but it gets the job done. You don't need it to do anything fancy, but it will always be sufficient where it's needed. ~
TL;DR
6/10 Gears Tactics is an Above Average game. If you’re a fan of Turn-Based Combat Strategy Arenas, this is a fun new experience that will test your noodle at times. If you have no exposure to games like XCOM or Xenonauts, this isn’t a bad place to start in spite of its flaws. I had fun with it - and didn’t have a lick of shame walking away when it began to run out of gas for me. It's worth the asking price. Get it on sale if you’re still apprehensive.
it's a good game but very repetitive which makes it boring after playing it a little. we get games like this very rarely so i really wanted to love it but it could have been much better. just get the good things that xcom 2 has done and add some more into it and this would be the best turn based game ever. if you love turn based games just buy it but dont expect more.
