Skygard Arena, developed by Gemelli Games and published by Gemelli Games alongside SpaceJazz, is a turn-based tactical strategy title that blends grid-based combat with modern team-building mechanics and competitive multiplayer elements. It positions itself as a thoughtful, ability-driven tactics game where positioning, synergy, and careful planning outweigh brute force. While it carries some structural influences from MOBAs and hero-based strategy games, its heart lies firmly in deliberate, methodical turn-based decision making. At its core, Skygard Arena revolves around assembling a squad of three Champions drawn from a diverse roster. Each Champion can equip different Personas, which fundamentally alter their available abilities and combat roles. This system encourages experimentation, as a single character can function as a frontline disruptor in one configuration and a ranged controller or support unit in another. Beyond Personas, Champions can also equip Relics that grant passive bonuses or modify combat interactions. The interplay between Personas and Relics creates a deep layer of customization, allowing players to craft highly specialized team compositions built around synergy and tactical identity. Combat unfolds on grid-based arenas where movement, line-of-sight, and objective control play crucial roles. Each turn demands careful allocation of actions, with players deciding whether to reposition, attack, capture objectives, or conserve resources for more impactful future turns. The maps often include environmental features that influence tactics, such as obstacles that block movement or elevated positions that shape engagement zones. Victory is rarely achieved through direct confrontation alone; controlling key areas and managing tempo can be just as decisive as dealing damage. One of the distinguishing features of Skygard Arena is its emphasis on objective-based gameplay. Rather than relying exclusively on eliminating enemy units, many scenarios encourage capturing points, collecting resources, or triggering map-based events. This adds layers of strategic tension, as players must balance aggression with territorial control. The inclusion of ultimate abilities that charge over time introduces another layer of pacing, forcing players to decide when to unleash powerful skills for maximum impact. The single-player campaign provides a structured environment to explore the game’s systems. Missions vary in objectives and layout, preventing repetition and encouraging adaptation. Some scenarios focus on holding strategic positions, while others emphasize survival or boss encounters. While the overarching narrative serves more as context than as a deeply layered storyline, it provides a framework for players to engage with the mechanics gradually. The campaign effectively introduces systems and builds complexity, though players primarily invested in story depth may find it secondary to gameplay. In addition to its campaign, Skygard Arena offers competitive multiplayer modes that significantly expand replayability. Facing human opponents introduces unpredictability and strategic adaptation beyond what AI opponents can offer. Ranked matches and leaderboard systems give competitive players long-term goals, and the dynamic nature of human decision-making elevates each match into a tactical duel. However, as with many niche strategy titles, matchmaking can occasionally depend on community activity levels. Visually, Skygard Arena adopts a colorful and clean aesthetic that prioritizes clarity. Character models are stylized yet readable, and ability effects are distinct without overwhelming the screen. The art direction supports gameplay by ensuring that tactical information remains accessible at all times. The interface is streamlined and functional, providing necessary data without excessive clutter. While the presentation may not rival large-budget productions, it complements the game’s strategic focus effectively. The sound design reinforces combat intensity through clear audio cues for abilities and environmental interactions. Background music maintains energy during matches without distracting from tactical planning. Voice lines and sound effects provide personality to Champions while maintaining clarity during heated encounters. Despite its strengths, the game is not without challenges. The learning curve can feel steep for newcomers unfamiliar with turn-based tactics or synergy-driven team composition. Mastering the interactions between Personas, Relics, and battlefield positioning requires patience and experimentation. Additionally, while the gameplay systems are deep, some players may wish for a more expansive narrative or broader variety in campaign length. Ultimately, Skygard Arena stands out as a strategically rich tactical experience that rewards thoughtful planning and creative team building. Its combination of modular character customization, objective-focused combat, and competitive multiplayer provides substantial depth for players willing to engage with its systems. While it may not revolutionize the genre, it delivers a polished and satisfying tactical framework that encourages experimentation and mastery. For fans of grid-based strategy and hero-driven team composition, Skygard Arena offers a compelling arena in which careful decision-making and synergy define victory. Rating: 7/10
Without a shadow of a doubt one of the best PVP-focused tactics-like games I've ever played. The gameplay has depth, the pillar system induces interaction and there's a plethora of viable strats you can go for. Also, the dev team is one of the best I've had the pleasure of interacting with. They're really keen on implementing changes suggested by the community and have been quick to address issues that have arisen with the game. At the moment the game is in a great state balance wise and in terms of bugs. There are of course characters and synergies that are stronger than others, as in any game, but nothing egregious (also, most game-altering bugs have been fixed and the developers are quick to solve them when reported on their discord). Additionally, the community, although small atm, is pretty engaged and there've been multiple tournaments, with more on the horizon. Hopefully you give the game a try and we come across each other on the ladder :)
Skygard Arena !

Interface limpa + idioma PT-BR
⚠️ Pontos a melhorar

Great game play, concept wise its feels like an arena pvp style board game. If you enjoy tabletop miniature games then you will enjoy this game! Only short fall for the games is its marketing, hope the game gets more traction and larger player base as it continues to grow!
A lot of bugs, but the most annoying one was in Mission 12. The goal is to defend through 10 waves — guess what? It turns into infinite waves. On top of that, I had to restart several times because of the side objectives like “get the pillars before round 6” and “don’t take any damage.” And if you realize your team setup isn’t right, good luck. You can’t just go back to change members — nope, you have to sit through all the dialogues again. Yes, you can skip the first one... but then you’re forced to read everything else before the fight. Great potential, but man, the frustration is real.
