Compra obligadaaaaaa
I recently completed "Frank and Drake" and am eager to share my highly positive review, along with a strong recommendation to purchase and play this game. As a dedicated fan of visual novels, my review is deeply influenced by my love for unique characters, complex plotlines, narrative depth, and atmospheric immersion. The game immediately captivated me with its gothic visual style, which I am particularly fond of, and promised a deep experience - a promise it certainly kept. The game's aesthetics, from the meticulously designed backgrounds to the characters and puzzle visuals, were a highlight for me. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail in elements like postcards, coasters, keyboards, and typewriters. The music is exceptional, enhancing the visual experience and creating a thoroughly immersive gaming environment. While I'm not typically a fan of harmonica music, I found its inclusion here to be fitting and enjoyable. Both main characters, Frank and Drake, are intriguing and show promise, though I feel their potential wasn't fully realized, leaving some aspects of their stories unexplored. I would have appreciated deeper insights, more internal monologues, and richer dialogues. The secondary characters are original and engaging, and I yearned for more interaction and dialogue with them. The plot is captivating and the storytelling intriguing, with a variety of well-crafted puzzles that are challenging without being overly complex. However, I did miss greater interaction with the game's world and more opportunities for collecting information in different settings. Many beautifully designed backgrounds seemed underutilized. Despite these positive aspects, there are areas where the game could improve: 1. The lack of an option to skip days or puzzles on subsequent playthroughs was noticeable and sometimes frustrating. 2. Some story elements felt forced or out of place (deus ex machina), like the blood donation vehicles and the overt presence of Sporos’ laboratory. I suggest toning down these more controversial aspects in future iterations. 3. The transition to the climax felt rushed, weakening the overall narrative. The connection between Drake and his father’s "problem" is not entirely clear (felt as deus ex machina as well). In conclusion, "Frank and Drake" is a visually stunning and engaging game, and I highly recommend it due to its rich atmosphere, compelling characters, and intriguing plot.

ENG: I have mixed feelings about Frank and Drake, mostly because of its replayability, so let me explain. The game is an interactive adventure with some really gorgeous artwork. The amount of drawings, animations, and even the text is seriously impressive. The story is interesting too, with mini-puzzles and branching paths, so you’ll need a few runs to see all the content. But here’s where the problem starts: since it’s an interactive story, replaying it isn’t like those visual novels where you can just hit skip and jump to the next choice. You have to play through everything again, which makes it lose that initial shine pretty quickly. Even with that downside, the first playthrough was a solid 10. I’d recommend picking it up on sale, unless you’re trying to 100% the achievements and content.
Oh I'm loving this game. You want to keep coming back to it for aesthetics, if nothing else. It is full of little things the developers made not because they were necessary, but because they were feeling like it. Like that menu screen that can go night or day (you iterate between those during gameplay). They tell the story not only through text, but with the mechanics themselves; for example, the more exhausted your characters are, the more often you need to press navigation buttons for them to move, as if their tiredness transfers to you. Lots of choice branches make me think I'll be playing it more than once. And yeah, there's zoo minigame - but once you understand which animals to avoid (and which are safe), it's only a matter of a few attempts.
Nice slow paced game, until...
the Zoo scene comes in. I enjoyed the storyline and the decisions so much, and then the developers decided to include a fast paced time critical minigame in between which is quite annoying to play. This completely threw me out of the story, and after 10-ish attempts I rage quitted, which rarely occurs to me. First time for a story driven game. Oh, and by the way: the devs never played with a mouse, because one has to reactivate the mouse every time on game start and when entering the settings menu. Does not give me a good impression on how the game was tested overall. If the minigame is okay to you, you can give it a shot. For me, this was the turning point in starting to dislike the game (not the story so far).
The story and mechanics in this game are great. I love it and I've completed it once. I'm looking forward to the second play through. But, .... there's this obnoxious maze puzzle. I'm not looking forward to dealing with it again.
Pros - Looks beautiful - Pleasant soundtrack although it can get a bit repetitive. - Lots of collectibles to find if that's your thing - Replay-ability and different endings if that's your thing - Interesting story but pretty weird too. - Simple but engaging game-play, mostly a visual novel with some light puzzles. Cons - The game is not entirely playable with the mouse, there are some segments where you need to use WASD or arrow keys - Although the story was interesting I felt the wrap up at the end threw a lot of new information at me all at once. For me it just felt that there wasn't enough story revealed during the game and it was dumped into the narration at the end. - The game credits mentions voice overs but the only voice acting I recall is right at the end of the game there is some narration. Voice acting throughout the game would have been really appreciated. - Sometimes its difficult to see what your meant to click on. Typically the hot-spots are kind of animated but sometimes its very subtle and not really obvious until you manage to mouse over. - Game is quite short for a single play-through (I left the game running so my time is overstated.) You can obviously play the game several times and check out all of the different choices but I didn't really feel motivated.
