After a few minutes I can say I really enjoy this game it has the right amount of challenge and complexity so far. You build your own way, make trading routes, have to keep your citizens happy. It’s really good. If you feel some city builders don’t have enough depth and want something where you can REALLY manage, build and be creative. This is your game for sure 😊. Edit: The errors in this game a very misleading. If you don't take the time to really understand what's going on you get stuck trying to solve the wrong problem. For instance: - Wide open space and the worker can't seem to get to the workplace, what's happening? The game let's you assign people before the building is done and it has says the can't access it because it's not fully built. - Not enough housing, sometimes it's just because there's not enough housing close to work location These are just a two I can get right off the top of my head and honestly I won't buy anything from these guys until these very basic features a properly fixed.
+ lovely building levels + lots of beautification stuff you can do unfortunately game is borderline unplayable: - population starving despite having hundreds of different foods in the bank - goods distribution/storage pathing completely off, warehouses do not store goods and markets do not get the goods - builders do not build prioritized buildings, instead build other stuff - residence houses constantly up- and downgrading swallows most building resources and builder times. this is unavoidable from mid- to lategame on because so many needs are constantly fullfilled and then unfulfilled again - bugged needs such as patrol area worsen this problem
Kind of insane that this game was ever considered out of early access considering how buggy it is. Buildings losing all functionality because you changed the position of any buildable, complicated overlays for the fortification levels that don't update properly when you edit something, infuriating pathing for NPCs (you literally have to create exclusion zones or villagers will trample your crops) and sometimes the pathing doesn't go away even after destroying something and your farmers will just be inefficiently building around empty nothing... and for some reason they think my nuns are brothers? (Very important). And... the utter ♥♥♥♥ optimization. Especially in 3x speed: buggy interactions and consistent 60 fps. So yeah, in summary great game 11/10. Another 10000 hours for me.
This used to be one of my favorite games. It is beautiful and relaxing. But since an update a few years ago I haven't been able to play it. It completly BURNS my GPU. I've tried everything. Lowering graphics, minimizing FPS, disabling v sync, reinstalling the game.. Nothing helps. Even at the start of a settlement my GPU jumps to 95+°C. I'm not using mods. This is just the base game. My PC can run games like Baldurs Gate 3 and Skyrim on the highest graphics settings no probem. Also other simulation games like Going Medieval. But for some reason not this. My GPU is built to be able to handle high tempreratures, but since I'm on a laptop and the rest of my system isn't, I'm not willing to risk it. Like the top part of the keyboard gets so hot that it actually burns my fingers whenever I try to run this for more than a few minutes. I have reported this multiple times over the years and it is still an issue. So if you don't have a great cooling system or a beast of a PC, this probably may be an issue for you as well and it doesn't seem like it's going to be fixed any time soon, so just be warned. But I'm still looking forward to playing this game when I can save up to buy a better PC. I still think about it at least once a week and I'm really sad I can't get back into it.
My favvvv citybuilder game!! It's the best! I've spent so many hours playing it and watching my villagers build my village. I do wish there were more decoration options. There are also some small bugs but it is a new game, so I'm sure with time, it will get fixed.
Theoretically a laid back medieval empire builder that plays well initially. But as you progress deeper into it, the poor design and bugs turn it into a painful episode of looking up videos and reddit posts trying to understand the non-sensical mechanics. I would say this game is at least 6 months away from being able to do an actual successful play-through.
And of course this turns into a DLC farmer, instead of just adding content for future popularity. Ignore this !!
Made the effort to post some bugs in the Bug forum. Included, screenshot, savefiles and steps to reproduce. One of which, has already been around for over a year and has been reported several times by other people too (keyboard stopping to work after closing the trading window). None of those have been fixed yet. In fact, at least one of the reports I made, hasnt even been looked at (I posted it over half a year ago). Funfact: Devs confirmed for all but two profiencies the level of someone doesnt affect anything. Yet in recent patch notes they "fixed" the level not increasing, for exactly such a proficiency where it doesnt do anything. Other bugs include: Bailif (thats your settlements leader) bonus values not upgrading, despite being displayed as upgraded. Isnt it nice if you spend gold to increase trade income from 10% to 50%? Too bad, the displayed value is not actually being applied. Soldiers in need of training, instead often stand around idling. (their whole squad wont deploy as long as any soldier misses their training).
