About
CAUTION: THIS GAME IS HARD AND FULL OF JUMP SCARES!
OPERATION FOSSILFUEL
Deep under the Great Sitkin Island in Alaska, you find yourself in the heart of one of the greatest scientific research facilities on Earth! Genetic researchers have bred mutant dinosaurs! But things go bad when the base is invaded by shadowy special forces, looking to steal the dino DNA. You grab your guns and your ammo and prepare for a fight...
At its core, Fossilfuel is a survival horror game. The player is trapped in a massive underground facility, Sierra, located in a remote location in Alaska. The player must use their head to find clues and solve puzzles to escape the facility.
The game features several massive maps that the player can play in any way they want. Their decisions will decide the ending of the game. Once the player escapes the depths of Sierra, they are faced with the sprawling landscape that is, the Great Sitkin Island. The main story campaign will be a solid length of around 6 to 10 hours of gameplay depending on your skill level.
Experience a massive arsenal of weapons as you plow through a huge library of enemies. The game features a wide range of weapons that are not just traditional firearms, your standard FPS arsenal of Shotguns and rifles, but also weapons of science fiction! Weapons that can warp physics and crush your enemies' bones in seconds! The game runs on the power of the Unreal Engine, enabling crazy particle effects and physics as well as difficult enemy squad AI that tries to flank the player and calls for reinforcements as the situation dynamically calls for it. Enemy dinosaurs will use all their sense to track the player as well. A Velociraptor on the other side of the base is there...hunting you...always coming.
The game enemies also span into our Homosapien brothers. The enemy soldiers will call for reinforcements, radio ahead to comrades on the other side of the map to prep for the player, talk to each other, provide covering fire, flank manoeuvers, can spot dead comrades, watch and listen for the player to make sounds, and even spot the player clicking on their flashlight. These guys are tough but the player can cut them down with fun weapons like the black hole gun!
The Dinosaur AI is likewise very aggressive. Velociraptors have incredible eyesight and can hear every move you make. They tend to travel in pairs and love to perform flanking maneuvers as well. Raptors, however, are not the only baddies you will encounter. But you will have to play to find out!
Players are encouraged to record, make twitch, or youtube videos about Fossilfuel. Make sure you link to the game if you do so.

Large amount of head bobbing/camera sway while moving, with no option to turn it off.
Very fast to beat. That is the major downside. I love dinosaurs because I'm autistic and love dinosaurs way too much so that is just unfair having me review it. i liked it too much and might have to run it again. BUT LIKE EVERY DINOSAUR GAME THERE ARE PEOPLE TO KILL. Take it as you will form a 28 year old autistic with a keyboard. 8/10.
Fossilfuel is a one-man-project that focuses on fusing elements of survival horror and straight up action, all of it revolving around a setting with dinosaurs! Although the game makes a terrible first impression with the first dino encounter being a stealth segment, it gets a lot more manageable once you make your way past that point: with the amount of different resources thrown at you, you'll have to do a bit of inventory space work and exploration is greatly encouraged, which is always a good thing. There is one single melee weapon (which is also missable), but using it anywhere at all is a deathwish, the guns however get the job done and the arsenal is quite vast for a game of this size. For a single developer effort, the game doesn't look too shabby with how the UE4 assets were put together and most of the necessary PC options are there, including FOV (annoyingly enough, the desired FOV has to be readjusted and vsync has to be re-enabled everytime you restart the game). There's a paper-thin story told through a couple of unskippable cutscenes and text logs found in the game expand on the lore a bit, which adds some of that survival horror-type worldbuilding. Enemies in this game hit hard (something seems to be off here, since you'll receive the same amount of damage on Easy as you do on Hard from most enemies) and eat up bullets like a sponge, unless you aim for the head: there's little to no feedback from your firearms and the AI is quite speedy, so it can be frustrating if your aim can't keep up. Boss battles are also nothing to write home about and they are easier to deal with compared to regular cannon fodder. The whole thing will take about 2 hours on your first playthrough (yes, even on Hard) and the only replay value here is tied to achievements, which also don't pop when they're supposed to (had to resort to SAM in this case). This is one of those very-low-under-the-radar projects you probably won't ever run into if this type of jank is not your thing, but I've enjoyed my time with it, despite all the shortcomings. The game is also rarely on sale (once or twice a year), I don't recommend buying it for the original asking price.
Steam shouldn't allow this kind of unfinished cr4p on the store

Run man Run, theses Primeval beasts are not from a park :'D
this game is really low budget bottom bin trash
I wish i could recommend this game but i can't. The start of it seemed so promising and the areas were interesting to start but it all just falls apart very early on. It stops using the Dinos and switches to soldiers, and loses the tight dark lad/office corridors to go to open areas and large open factories where you can just alert one solider and due to their bad design and programming will just charge you in an easy to shoot single file line. The second half of the game feels like a watered down F.E.A.R without the enemy intelligence or the bullet time. I am truly heartbroken by this game as i saw the vision in the early parts of it, it had so much potential but it just ditched what it was trying to do to be unique. It also is just poorly optimized and i had to switch to low graphics to stop it from lagging and breaking. I had hope for this but after playing and beating it i cant even look to its sequel because this has just left me wanting.
