About
The world has changed, machines have rusted, and neons are buzzing... But cats still know the best hiding spots.
Find The Cat: Nightmare brings a dark, stylized twist to the classic Hidden Object genre. In these forgotten corners of a retro-futuristic society, your goal is simple but the atmosphere is heavy. You aren't searching for cats in sunny parks; you are finding them in the "Game Over" vault, inside the gears of massive machines, and under the flickering lights of broken arcade cabinets.
When the lights flicker, don't close your eyes. The only way to find them is to stare into the darkness.
A complete nightmare... mostly for our expectations
I am so disappointed. As a creepy-ambience enthusiast, I thought I had found the promised land: about 10 levels of 40-50 cats each (from memory), the setup sounded fantastic, especially with environments like abandoned school grounds, an overgrown botanical house and a creepy toy store! Sadly, the dream part ended quickly and this all turned out to be Find the Cat: Nightmare. Credit where it’s due: there are plenty of levels and cats, the art looks nice, and the transparent kitties are adorable. That’s honestly what pulled me in. Unfortunately, the hunt itself is barely a hunt. Usually only one cat per level is even slightly “hidden”, while the rest sit in plain sight like they forgot the assignment. On top of that, there are basically no QoL features: no hints, no zoom, no achievements, no save system, no level selection, no sound sliders, no fullscreen toggle... nothing. There isn’t even proper music. For a game at this price point, that feels extremely bare. And then there’s the runtime. The whole thing lasted 13 minutes. Thirteen. Minutes. Even looping the last level until you start a new game doesn’t help much. Paying about $4 CAD, on sale, for that experience feels rough. There was potential here for Nurdi Games to step into the spooky hidden-cat space after the NukeArt Studios copyright drama, but this attempt sadly misses the mark and by a long shot. If you’re looking for a real hidden-object hunt, this one is easy to skip. BEAUTIFULLY creepy art in every level, I suppose a good amount of levels (I didn't care to finish), but the amount doesn't matter when it's so very easy and pointless. There is no volume control, only a LOT of languages to choose from, and there are no words that really need it. (Not against accessible languages, but I thought some cats would be saying something or there would be little lore bits on how some of them died, idk.) The game sends you to the menu after every level, unnecessary. I would critique the lack of hints (I never use them in find it games but noticed it seemd to be missing one) but you REALLY don't need it here. There are no other features. No secret cats, not collectables, no harder cats or more of them. I think it stays around 50 per very small art piece. They don't blend or meld with the environment so again, VERY easy to spot. There are free find-it cat games better than this. You're paying to enjoy the backgrounds, which are nice and creepy. Too mind-numbing to recommend, especially at what will be 4 dollars after the launch sale. Too expensive for nothing. I did ask for a refund.
This game by FAR the easiest, and shortest hidden cat game I have played. There are probably less than 10 unique levels and then it just replays the last level. Goes straight to the menu every time you finish a level, and you have to press continue. No level select. The levels are very small, and like mentioned incredibly easy. Not worth $3. Feels like it should not have been released in this stage. No story literally at all.
A Hidden Cats game without any special features. A shame, because the background graphics would have been perfect for expanding the game. As it is, you simply search for the cats in various rather small screens. Their outlines are visible. Everything is very easy and straightforward. There's no zoom function, but you don't really need one. Help functions... I have no idea, as I didn't need them. The only odd thing is the last level... when you complete it and press "Next," there's no end screen, but rather the same level you just solved. Overall... well, there are many significantly better Hidden Cats games. You can give this one a try, but you won't miss anything if you skip it. I would give this one a 5/10.
Not Recommended After 15 minutes of playing time, I'd hit the end of the content. Cats are almost insultingly easy to find. Just large bare outlines of a different line-weight than the background artwork. They hang out where cats would be expected to hang out. The only place where there was a clever overlap of shapes to try and obscure it was one where they had the empty-outline-cat-eyes overlap with the Creepy Eyes In The Darkness eyes of a black painting. And that might've just been a happy accident. There's an attempt at Spooky Atmospherics, but it's just 'creepy' background noises like Ticking Clock, Someone Turning Pages, Dragging Shuffled Noise. All of which are drowned out by the three or four different cat meows it cycles through every time you click on a cat. And you'll be clicking on one every second or so because, as said earlier, it's frustratingly easy to find them. No other hidden objects to find, no hidden easter eggs, no interaction with the levels themselves, no opening up doors or sacks to find additional cats, no flipping switches. No options to make it harder or easier. No hints. The only Game Option is language, which only applies to the menu because there's no other written words in the game, nor anything spoken. No option for volume control, no option for screen-size or to make it windowed instead of full-screen. At the end of each level, it pops you back to the main menu where you have to hit "Continue" for the next level, or "Start Over" to play the first level again. No level select. I spent longer writing the review for this game than I did playing it.
- leider keine steam Errungenschaften. Gibt es noch etwas positives? Die Hintergründe und Katzen sehen okay aus. Schade.
Beautiful art but incredibly simple with absolutely no story or even continuity of some sort... Sadly I had to return this game.
The best game of my life.
Nice game, but it needs volume controls and maybe hints for the invisible cats. Even without those, it was a very short, quick level that I played.
Супер ! жаль что короткая и нельзя выбрать уровень после прохождения. Нет уведомления что игра пройдена. Игра отличная, концептуальная !
