I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories. 2 Comments
Another amazing game! I was looking forward to the game's release and I wasn't disappointed. The graphics were so nice and colorful. The mechanics ran smooth overall like Wings of Glass. The music was pretty as well, especially toward the end of the game. I've been thrown off with some puzzles but I've never been so good at so many of them. It's definitely worthwhile playing though as, like WoG, it would have you test your brain but in a fun way. Amazing job, Sayuri, and I'll be looking forward to your next project whatever it may be. :)
I had strong Mario 64 vibes from gameplay, loved it. I really enjoyed the light storytelling as well. Fantastic feeling game from a single person developer. The 2D platforming sections were also very enjoyable. With the right button combo you can get moving very fast in both 2D and 3D section, just felt very fluid.
This is an amazing game bar none, it's a bit short, but it's a lot of fun to play.
FULL REVIEW : https://youtu.be/CO1QdrKD-N0 A wonderful Action Platform game made by the developer of Wings of Glass. Colorful and with cute cut scenes. This game made in 3 months is a fantastic game to play.
It's a very long winded review of a rather short game. O.o There was a wall jump area, that even a seasoned gamer beating games such as the many 3D platform game out there, I could not pass. Finding out just how impossible that spot was to players like myself, that one spot was fixed. Not making it easy to pass, but passable with some effort put into it. I do give credit to the developer for fixing that issue in the way it was handled. Very nice. ^.^ My list of things I feel should be added to this or a newer game: An end of level summery on how well you did after finishing each level. Most notably, a count of how many enemies was in the level, and how many you killed. There is no kill counter of any sort, so you have no idea if you got them all or not. Not all games needs it, but this game I feel should have one. Also, after finishing the game, I found there is no real incentive to getting a full kill, other than getting rid of the few that may get in my way, or killing enough change things to help me advance. Many of the others can just be ignored. There is no need to kill everything. And as far as I can tell, I don't get anything for killing everything. Not even the knowledge if I did or not. Trying to kill them all is really just a waste of time. O.o There is an extra sound you hear when I collected the final star in each level, so I have a way of knowing if I got them all or not. But there is noting more to it than knowing I got them all. It would be nice if there was something more to the end of the game for getting all the stars. I just get the satisfaction that I did. And perhaps that is enough for some players. This is a fun game, and impressive that it was made in three months time. Few can say they made such a game in that amount to time. This next part could be thought of as a plus to the game or not. It depends on the player. There is no lives, so I can play unlimited times. So there is no worries if I do die. There is little to no incentive to stay alive and keep from dying. And I did die a lot due to falling where I could die. Some stars where hard for me to get without falling to my death to get them. So I was a bit grateful for that, for that one reason alone. Also in combat. There seems to be noting to worry about when getting hit by an enemy. So other than them being a nuisance at best to getting around, there is no real need to kill them other then helping in opening the way out of each level. I have not been killed by any, so they seem almost pointless to bother with, other than killing what I need to exit. They can't for as I can tell, hurt you any. It is a mix of kills and stars collected that helps you to move on. The mount of each needed, depend on how many of the other you got. With the game having so little in it, I feel the enemy should pose a bit more of a threat than they do. Such as being able to kill you, and lowering a life counter. Even if falling to your death doesn't lower your life count, as some games don't wile the enemy does. The story is simple, and easy to follow without any words to it, but I feel some of the story is a bit lacking in explanation for some of what is going on in it. No lore to be found. It is like seeing someone else's dream, and having to come up with your own assumptions as to what is really going on in it. Yes, it seems like a dream. Those who show up in the game, are all drawings form the main girl's drawing pad, before she ends up in that dream world. Though noting is given as to who each of them are. Nor who it is whom attacks the player in a cut scene. I would like to know in the game, who she is, and why she attacked. Obviously she is a villain, and is trying to stop you, but that is all you do find out, nothing more. I wish there was sometime in the game when you get to fight her, and beating her mattered. You see her only once in a cut scene, and that's it. The game is both challenging and has a cute story, and both I like a lot. Other than the story itself being cute, I thought both the pink shark girl, and the girl you play as is both quite cute as well. Was both pleasing to see in the game. ^.^ One thing more I did enjoy about the game is watching that tail swish back and forth as she moved. Was a good incentive for me to keep her moving. ^.^ Do I recommend the game? Yes. Yes I do. For it was fun. ^.^ It is a fun to play game. And I did enjoy playing it. Hell, I played it near three full times through on the day I got it. Well, about 95% completed my first time playing, before the wall issue was fixed. Two full times after that. Got all the stars in my second play-through. ^.^ At near $10 for the game, I feel it is worth the cost to get such a cute looking game with a changeling parkour game play to it.
Easy game to get into, if you played Mario Sunshine you'll feel right at home with the movement here, you can recharge your stamina by completing the roll with a little hop allowing you to follow up right into another, which is really satisfying. You can't game over which is convenient for a low stress game like this. Definitely worth picking up.
Playing this game feels like a surreal dream, and it has an overall chill and exploratory atmosphere. It's a great "zone out before bed" sort of experience. The gameplay is very simplistic, which is not necessarily a criticism. Though there are a lot of combat related mechanics that I feel are a bit excessive given that most enemies can simply be ran past or ignored. It's also confusing when you start off, because you basically have to discover all of the mechanics and rules on your own. That could be considered a good thing, as it contributes to a sense of discovery. However, I still don't know what's the deal with those star things, but I collected them all anyways. The story is cute, but I had no clue what was going on by the second half. My last criticism is that the game lacks polish. The character movements are very jagged and glitchy looking, though thankfully there are no game-breaking glitches. It's a very impressive project for something that was made in 3 months. The character designs are especially nice, and so are the designs of the enemies, who fit well with the dreamy aesthetic.
neat little game i cant wait to see what the creators do with the platformer mechanics they feel great. my only complaint is camera.
So I haven't beaten this game yet, but I'm already in love with it! You're a creative little girl who doesn't really fit in at school, and a mysterious mishap takes you to the world inside your creation! OK ok it's not the most original premise but it's definitely one of the best told by delightful (and dialogue-free, so you can play without needing to be able to read or speak English) 2D animated cutscenes! The core of the game is a third person hack and slash platformer akin to something like Medievil just with more jumping, your character is responsive, feels like they have weight to them and can grab on to ledges to save them from a fall! (There are bottomless areas, but no fall damage if you fall on a solid). You have a chargejump that you can use to dash to other platforms, which is handy! The main goal of jumping around the world fighting wonderfully modeled crystalline enemies to collect star pieces, which will open up a tower that lets you ascend to the next level. It's fun with no frustration, sometimes I died because I didn't grab the ledge right or I charged at the wrong time but at no point did I feel like it wasn't my fault. The graphics in this game are low-poly but use the aesthetic in a beautiful combination with shaders to create a surreal dreamscape that really feels like a lonely young girl's imagination, I've only been through 2 levels so far but both are designed in a way that feels like a retro throwback game should, lots of care was placed into the design and aesthetic and while not emulating any particular game/console/era it will make you oddly nostalgic for the 32-bit era. The sound design is cute with sounds appropriate for the character, she's not an action girl she's a normal girl given powers and just trying to get back home! All the sound effects are cute, and the music is at times hauntingly beautiful, evocative of the labyrinth of dreams you've found yourself in, at other times it calls to mind platform music of the era, jaunty and fun perfect for jumping around. Now for some stuff I'm not liking so far. I have no problems with not having a health meter but i would like a way to see how many stars i need to get and while i also like some of the cooler moments like the little section of teeny platforms you jump on in the first level, having them practically programmed feels kind of like a copout. Like I feel i wouldn't be able to do it without that, but in that case why have it in the level? Regardless so far if you're willing to set aside your expectAAAtions there's a lot more good I can say than bad. I can't give it a rating until I beat it, but right now I recommend it and I will update this when I complete the game.
