Would like to play it, but EA won't let me. Like others already wrote: unplayable on the Steam Deck/linux.
I really enjoyed this game, but after the update I need to log into EA to activate the game???
ΕΑ launcher dumpster fire
This game will make you feel like Fluttershy. The atmosphere and immersion are so strong with this game, and I love love love that it never explicitly tells you what to do. I got to feel like a kid again, running around wondering where to go, but not so aimless that I could never figure it out. The game is great at dropping hints with the environment instead of just dropping immersion breaking markers and arrows, and without a single word of dialogue, the game is masterful at showing, not telling with its thought provoking story. Trying to piece together what was happening through the carved tablets and silent helmets was a great time on top seeing what was happening in real time. The OST is not very big, but the soundtrack and sound design are especially amazing in this game. It really goes a long way to make you feel like you are part of a living, breathing world. When the other animals are reacting to your movements and vocalizations, it really makes it seem like you are a visitor in their world. The game CAN be a bit jank, but I only had a small handful of buggy moments. The game's mechanics are interesting and fun to master. And the way it incrementally adds flavor and depth to your kit through the singing abilities you are required to get for the story, and the optional ones through the collectibles are fun to combine into a fluid, satisfying to control little fox void thing. Plus the game's title is the initials of my favorite franchise ever, Fire Emblem, bonus points! If you like 3D platformers, or even if you don't, I would recommend this game. It is absolutely worth the money and short time to beat it.
Highly recommended, extremely entertaining independent game. Too bad it's still attached to EA. it would be nice if the original developers could own the rights themselves and re-release the game under their new publisher situation. EA doesn't deserve to have any hold on this game at all.
FoxMania: The Quest To Review All Fox Games On Steam!
Conditions for inclusion:

-The player character must be consistently a fox; the fox must not be merely a skin or a character option
-Must have 100% working Steam achievements
-Must not be a visual novel
Game #42: Fe That was rather incredible, and it's a miracle I even found it on some random internet list of underrated gems. To get one thing out of the way: yes, I know this guy looks like a little black gremlin, but I'm counting it as a fox because 1) enough sources call it a "Fox-like" creature, and 2) in-game spoilers. This is a gorgeous 3D open-world platformer about a little fox-gremlin-thing called Fe who tries to save a magical forest from robots called "The Silent Ones" (who look suspiciously like the EMMI from Metroid Dread... even though this game predates it by 3 years.) It's got some metroidvania elements, optional collectables that unlock new powers, and a "singing" system where you can learn six different animal languages and use them to convince the environment to help you. The game claims that it goes for a "hands-off" approach for guiding the player. It uses as few words as possible, and tries to use environmental cues to funnel you down the correct path. But there's still an abundance of guiding features, including map waypoints, animals that invite you to chase them, and an in-game guide bird you can summon and follow whenever you want, so it's questionable whether the game design actually accomplished what it wanted. Things I liked:

-I was immediately gripped by the artstyle, the atmosphere, the music, the overall vibe. It was magnificent from beginning to end.
-There were a few scenarios that blew my mind and exceeded all my expectations, like the section where you have to rescue a giant deer god. That whole section left an impression I won't forget anytime soon.
-The difficulty and game length seemed just about perfect. There were only a few optional puzzles that I would call very hard.
-Game integrity seemed very solid, way above average for a game like this. I never found myself fighting with the physics very much, except some minor camera issues, and edge physics when trying to make jumps I clearly wasn't supposed to make. Blatant glitches were very rare. (I clipped out of the map exactly once, then realized I could use it to cheese a collectible that had stumped me, so that was pretty awesome)
-A few particular powers (I won't spoil what they were) started out seeming lame, but I fell in love with them over time, and eventually I felt a real connection with Fe's skillset. Also, the late-game powers help in 100% completion and were very appreciated.
-I much appreciated how you could open the map while you were still moving, and you could aim the vision cone in the desired direction.
-The story is absolutely stunning. 10/10 lore for a game like this. Every creature in the game has a grand role to play in the plot, and it left me breathless as the truth slowly started to come together like a mosaic. BUT...
Things I didn’t like:

-...Even though I have nothing but praise for the game's story, I don't think the story was told very well. The game takes its strict "hands-off" approach to the story, leaving it scattered and fragmented all over the world in the form of hundreds of wall paintings and a dozen playable memory modules. I understand what they were going for, I think they just catastrophically failed at it. In practice, I think most players could reach the end of the game and not have any idea what's going on. I think only the most dedicated players will find enough of the lore that it will start to make sense in a satisfying way, and that makes me sad.
-The map design is... overstimulating? Chlostrophobic? Every room in the game strangely felt too-densely packed, even the wide-open rooms, so much that I never once gained an innate sense of direction. Every zone made me feel trapped inside unless I found a very specific way out. Whenever I perched high on a tree and peered around, everything was just endless visual clutter in every direction. Granted, it's beautiful visual clutter, but it's overwhelming trying to figure out where to go next. Maybe this was an intentional effect, making the player feel like a tiny little creature in a cluttered and overbearing jungle, but I almost never recognized the way to go by sight alone, and always had to rely on the map.
-The "singing" mechanic was lame. You learn six languages. Each language allows you to gain the alliance of exactly one type of plant and one type of animal. Four of the six plants are just slightly different versions of a bounce pad. Constantly having to switch languages just to activate bounce pads was super irritating. Also, singing uses the analogue shoulder buttons on a controller to "match the frequency" of the creatures you're trying to connect with, which was pretty weird.
-The final power maps to the singing button, which means you can't use it without singing. That was really annoying. And it keeps calling the guide bird, which is useless at that point.
-3rd party DRM. EA account (AKA Origin) required. That's probably an instant dealbreaker for some people, and I wouldn't blame them. Absolutely shouldn't be a thing, but it has nothing to do with the game itself, so I won't factor that into my verdict.
Overall... wow. That game came out of seemingly nowhere and left a nice mark on my soul. It's probably the closest thing we have to a 3D Ori at this point, too. It took about 8 hours to beat, and 4 more to achievement hunt, with very minimal guide usage (for the “My Enemy’s Enemy” achievement and one silent helmet). I don't regret a moment of the experience, and it would be nice to see this game get a little more appreciation. 8.5 / 10.
A fabulous 3D platformer metroidvania adventure game, with a unique art style, atmospheric environments and great soundtrack. The story is told without words and you are left to your interpretation, heck, even the voices and characters are unnamed too. There are some stealth sections but no combat, instead, you help the other creatures, learn their voices and sing to them (though this mini-game to find the correct frequency feels finicky). I originally bought this game on EA Origin (remember that?) back in 2018, and I'm sad to see Fe is still underrated many years later. Back then, EA was releasing their PC games exclusively on Origin which didn't help discovery, then EA finally conceded and released their games to Steam two years later. Even today, the game still has Denuvo and requires the EA launcher which tanks the Steam review score, plus the original developers (Zoink Games) have gone defunct and there's probably no developer to recompile the game :(
im sorry, its not obvious what needs to be done n where to go + difficult to play on laptop + ea launcher
This is a fantastic game. It has smooth gameplay, fun puzzles, a unique art style, and an interesting narrative told mostly through the environment. My biggest issues with it are some very minor bugs and parts of the game world aren't designed to accommodate the final ability.
One of the most beautiful game I've played. The art style is simple, yet very colorful and stunning. The music is very calming and pleasant to the ears. Even history has hidden depths. Just sit, forget everyday problems, take your time and relax.
