Faulty Apprentice is an interactive fantasy visual novel/dating sim where you play a “not quite perfect” new apprentice living and working in a castle. The story leans on the idea that you’re thrown into castle life—magic, weird rules, suspicious situations, and a bunch of characters who can become friends, rivals, or romances depending on how you handle things. It’s less about one straight plot and more about shaping your own route through choices. Instead of only clicking through dialogue, the game is built around planning your days. You decide how to spend time—training, taking jobs, exploring, or focusing on specific characters—and those decisions unlock different scenes and push the story in different directions. Your priorities matter, so you’re not going to see everything in one run. The character routes are the main appeal. Each person has their own personality and storyline, and who you invest in changes the tone and outcomes of your playthrough. That makes it replay-friendly, because a second run with different choices can feel like a genuinely different story. It also includes minigames to break up the reading. Some players enjoy the extra interactivity, others would rather focus on the story—but they’re mainly there to add variety and make the “daily routine” feel more like a game than a pure VN. Overall, Faulty Apprentice is a good fit if you want a fantasy VN with relationship routes, meaningful choices, and a bit of structure beyond just dialogue. If you prefer a completely linear story or you don’t like minigame interruptions, it may not click the same way.
well that does it none of these games are fun(not getting the next to this and a few others) can't even buy a decent game that hide bs i don't play. Looks like all the new games make leisure Suit Larry. Game should be fun not guess my gender after i get naked.
A visual novel with dating sim and RPG elements, with some light sexual content. Honestly, the writing is really good. The story is a neat take on fantasy cliches and the characters are all wonderfully diverse without leaning into cliche archetypes too much. The art is whimsical and nails the fantasy aesthetic. And the minimal voice acting is perfect, though I wish it was all dialogue.
Game is about Farm Boy, whos must prepare all Castle Crew full of sexy girls to big fight against army of Goblins, same train on the same time. He has 20 days, during that time, You must talk with bunch of colorful characters, train Yourself, and collect banners and Art, including those R-18 Pros: + Dialogues between Characters (each day are differends, really noticed work over that :) ) + Not so bad plot + If u dont want to play mini-games, u can turn them off + Nice arts + Suprisingly game play, even if in Visual Novel style, its like "one more day" + Need to choose wisely, on what day activities do You spend You day + Each Girl has her own personality, likes/dislikes etc + Egg hunt event challenging, but good + DLC with Hilde, i liked it Cons: - routine - if you dont use Guide, reaching romance/relationship with Character is almost impossible for the first time.
To have relationship with one of the girls, its depends from certain girl, but all of them has rulez, whats belongs to all of them. Talk to them everyday, and chat with them - and here is the best problem, everyday u must to answer on girl talk, you have 3 options to answer, one is bad (her morale dropped) one is neutral (morale stay on place) and one is positive (morale up) , and if u dream about relationship, u must exacly answer on all questions choosing that positive answer , to increase morale,. Even neutral answer wont help You . In my example. I have tried to reach to Eleanna, the Elf Archer Instructor. i did all what i could, talked everyday, even used guide, i obtained obsidian bow, i didnt started romance. Why? because in relationship i missed one square in her stats, and one square in morale (i answered wrongly on 2 questions out of 17 about, what i had... thank You, good bye). Some of the questions could be answered on intuition, ok, but some... what u dont know how she is gonna react, so u have to play lottery... In this point , game wont forgive Your mistake
- some of the gathering quests Im positive to games like that, when not much bugs in game, have beautiful cartoon arts, i can recommend. Im simple man. 6/10
Gameplay: 4/10

Graphics & Sound: 7/10

Narration: 6/10
✔️ Pretty visuals, nice music. ✔️ The narration can get pretty fun, the character cast is somewhat diverse (though the female characters do lack some body type diversity). ✔️ Nice narrative rhytm, not many opportunities to be bored. ✔️ Gay romance options! 💭 Not really a "porn game" in my opinion - the erotic scenes are few and pretty tame. But they are also too present to not be a focus. The game sits in a weird place where it's a porn-adjacent game trying to make fun of harem stories while still pandering to the male gaze, mostly. 💭 The +1/0/-1 dialogue model doesn't offer a lot of space for personal exploration - essentially if you're playing a "good" playthrough or an "evil" playthrough you only ever have one "valid" answer. I mean you can deviate from that but it can have negative impact on the result you're going for... I wish we had a bit more granularity in character endings as well as the impact each answer had on the story. Having some dialogues that have several positive or negative answers with a different mood could have been fun for instance. ❌ The minigames just aren't good. Good thing you can skip them. Swordfight is the only one that can actually be fun to play through (it's some kind of cheap Fruit Ninja rip-off). ❌ Learning spells is just Latin translation? It doesn't even rely on any in-game information, it's just straight up translation. The only case where a game should be doing that is if it's actually a didactic game to learn Latin, which is not the case here. ❌ The UX isn't great. It gets pretty tedious to navigate given the amount of clicks you need to do to check your current stats, calendar, or to change your equipment. Fun enough to play through, tried replaying it for various outcomes, that doesn't bring much honestly. Not a fine gem, but entertaining enough.
Good VN for it's price 👍
This game has #bestcat, she's great. Also #bestelf is Eleanna. :D
just finished my first play-through, thank god for the skip and auto-dialogue so i could finish this and review it within a day, this game is like if Gaia and Adventure Quest made a baby and it was a story game, coming to the end of the story was a bit sad seeing i hadn't gotten all the scenes for even a single character but i really enjoyed all the times i spent with each character, I love the decision making in this game and implore you to play it as neutral as it comes to you for your first play-through and i bet you really enjoy it! Audio is absolutely Repetitive! each character has about 3-6 lines they say throughout the entire game, some don't even match up with the right demeanor as you gain and lower relationship and morality with them. only downside i think aside from getting boring in the last 3-4 days of the month. such a killer ending though!
The art is amazing but the game is such a grind. Idk if it was to pad playtime, or just to be annoying. At some points it made me not want to play, even for the lols xD
it good.
