Huge input lag and fps stutters/ drops since the last patch. No recommendation in the current state...
After the 30th of July patch, the game already runs and looks great on the SteamDeck and plays fine with the default non controller configuration. You need to set the UMA buffer to 4GB. Start the game on the default Proton. No extra configuration required. Use the right touchpad and right trigger as mouse to configure the settings as follows: DISPLAY Window Mode: Fullscreen Resolution: 1280x800 Unlimited Fps: Yes Enable VSync: No Enable HDR: Yes GRAPHICS Graphics Quality: Custom View Distance Quality: Medium AntiAliasing Quality: Medium Shadow Quality: Low GI Quality: Low Reflection Quality: Medium PostProcess Quality: Medium Texture Quality: High Effects Quality: High Foliage Quality: High Shading Quality: Low Landscape Quality: High Allow Megalights: Yes Upscaling Type: TSR Screen Percentage: 71 The FPS flactuates from 30 to 60+ depending on where you are, but it's perfectly playable given the fact it's UE5 on the lowest hardware configuration. It looks great too. You will get some drops below 30 here and there, but they don't detract much. It's still early access after all. Shame we can't set the Global Illumination to Medium as it really makes a difference in the game's presentation but we can't ask for miracles. I'm honestly amazed it runs like this so early in EA. Cudos to the Devs. They seem to be very competent and know their stuff. This is going to become a very successful and memorable game and I'm confident it will be Steamdeck verified on release. The game itself is great with beautiful vistas and jaw dropping visuals. The combat and movement are weighty and deliberate, making the experience much more immersive than any other first person fantasy game out there. For the price, you are getting an amazing deal right now and it can only get better from here.

When I first watched the trailer, it immediately caught my attention. I could clearly see inspirations from The Lord of the Rings and Skyrim—two legendary pillars of the fantasy RPG genre that have given many of us unforgettable experiences. That's a high standard to aim for, and it made me genuinely excited to try the game. I don't want to make this review too long, so I'll keep my feedback as direct as possible. Positive Points I absolutely love the world you've created and the way you've presented it visually. I'm playing on Ultra settings, and if this is already Early Access, I can only imagine how much further you'll be able to push the visuals before release (although I have no idea what's technically possible). Either way, congratulations—the game already looks fantastic. I also love the druid's little companion, the rat. It's a quirky character that fits surprisingly well within this fantasy world. At first, I actually thought the rat would be the only one who spoke, while the druid would remain a silent protagonist. I think that could have worked really well too, depending on the direction of the story and the other characters. Constructive Criticism There were a few moments during my playthrough where the audio seemed to be missing. For example, when the druid and the rat fall into the sewers, the rat is cleaning himself and spitting out the dirty water, but there are no sound effects at all. The same thing happened after I defeated the first boss—the final moment of the kill had no audio. I'm sure these are Early Access issues that will be fixed, but I thought they were worth mentioning. One thing I've always loved in games is cinematic animations. Just like defeating a boss triggers a cutscene, I think it would be really satisfying if, every now and then (not too often, so it doesn't become repetitive), defeating a regular enemy with very low health could trigger a short execution animation. It would make combat feel even more rewarding. Staying on the topic of combat, I felt that enemies sometimes behaved a little too much like ragdolls. It's not necessarily because they're weak enemies—I think it's more about the feeling of impact. I want to feel like they're actually absorbing the force of being hit by a huge druid wielding a massive sword. This could come from stronger sound design, more pronounced hit reactions, visible wounds, blood effects, stagger animations, or other forms of visual feedback. Right now, I think combat is missing a bit of that satisfying "weight" behind each hit. I was already halfway through the game when the new spell and potion radial menu was introduced, so maybe that's part of why it felt strange to me. I don't have the perfect solution, but I often found it confusing to press R just to choose between spells and potions. From a user experience perspective, I think this system could be explored further. For example, maybe the mouse wheel could cycle through the four equipped potions, although I don't think that's a complete solution either. I think this part of the interface deserves another look. I imagine you'll probably expand the storytelling later, but I think the game could benefit from more narrative transitions between major sections. I don't mean every time the player enters a new area—that could become annoying—but after significant milestones, such as starting a new chapter. It could be really interesting if the rat narrated these transitions, perhaps even using a different visual style (stop-motion is just one example). I like the idea of the rat acting as the narrator, almost as if he's telling the story of what happened to the druid from some point in the future. Just an idea that I think could add a lot of personality to the game. Overall, congratulations on what you've achieved so far. You're definitely on the right track, and it's already a very promising Early Access experience. I hope you're able to finish the game as soon as possible because I'm really looking forward to playing the full release.
The first thing I noticed was that the gamepad in the menu doesn't work and the game doesn't see it in principle, although during the game itself it works, although some mechanics don't work, for example, F on the keyboard on the gamepad didn't work at all and the command to press F hung on the screen. The rat that starts the story is from 2010 and in the background the environment looked like a 3 out of 10. The environment is top graphics, but the atmosphere and sound are somehow lost in places, for example, when you enter the blacksmith's house, there is no sound, some mechanism is working that does some action too. No less important is the issue of localization. Many players will join from Ukraine when the Ukrainian language appears. This is very important for the community and our region and a great support in this difficult time. No less important is the rejection of the language of the terrorist organization rusia. And there are good reasons for that, the first and most important for you is piracy due to low solvency, most of them steal games and programs from torrents, adding their localization will only increase the number of torrent file downloads (and what else can you expect from thieves of toilets and washing machines? This is an accessible fact that is easy to verify with one query in Google).
honestly didnt wanna leave a review with just under 2 hours play time but id have to say this. the game visually stunning, combat simple and easy. from other reviews ive read (mainly negative ones as those are ones i tend to read when looking at new games). those reviews are kinda wild and im surprised that some people expect a full game with no issues when they pay less than £10 for early access. the game is intriguing and can be fun, does it lack stuff yes. but thats because its not a AAA game studio or 100+ man one. i hope with more work to the game id get too see more open world and dungeon like interactions and a varied amount of NPCs that can breath more life to the enviroment. maybe there is this stuff as you delve deeper into the game but so far there hasnt been with where im at. im looking forward to see more to the game and from time to time when i play more id love to see more changes that doesnt take away from the core of the game. (this game does make me wanna play more) if i rated it out of 5 it woul be 3.9 which is above average. i hopr future updates make my rating same or higher
Excellent game at this stage in development. It really feels like Dark messiah which is something I didn’t realised I’d so much until playing this. The games no where near done but they make no effort to hide it, it’s a pleasure to try out and see how it develops. 10/10 would find Fire damage axe and kite the boss to death again
.. příšerná sračka!!!
This is the most beautiful game I ever played... I cant stress this enough. I do like nice graphics, but I barely ever consider it as a point of review... In this case, I cant ignore it, because it literally looks absolutely stunning. I played Cyberpunk maxed out with upscaled textures, I play Crimson Desert maxed out and tweaked, I played the new Halo CE in Unreal 5. I regularly play Star Citizen maxed out. But this is different, this feels like a tech demo video... its stunning... Unfortunately the lenght and contend also feel like a tech demo... Its straight up a demo from what I have seen before encountering the early access credits... look at my play time. And I left the game running for 30 minutes when I was AFK. It lets you collect stuff in Skyrim-lite way, it lets you make potions that clearly have potential to go to higher quality. It teases a deep lore. And most importantly it gives you a skill tree reminiscent of Path of Exile... and by the time you have like 2% of that skill tree filled out, the game ends. There are two bosses, both boring. And 3 types of enemies. And like 5 weapons. This is a demo version, its not like any early access I ever saw. The ONLY thing that makes me give this a recommended is that after the first 30 minutes of exploring and looking at how everything looks and feels gorgeous, I said to myself "This game is worth it even if there is nothing else, its just that beautiful and it still feels material, not like a static prop world..." Well there WAS nothing else, almost... but here I am, 2 hours in, leaving a positive review as I decided to... More detail: IF!! this gets 20x bigger, the systems that are there (combat, looting, presentation of story) are really good. I cant understand how some commenters say the combat is too sluggish and at the same time they say it feels not weighty. It feels super weighty, hits feel great, distance for melee is accurate and realistic... However it is a little too slow and with what the combat system seems to allow, its a HUGE missed potential to not include more types of attack and more complexity. Its just one attack, almost the same strong attack and universal block (edit, yeah and a kick, and there are pits and spikes everywhere... its abusable for sure + I also forgot there is magic... 4 Spells, you can spec into it... I didnt even use all 4 before the game ended!!) . There isnt even a parry, shields, thrusts, attacks from different sides, directional parry or blocking... nothing. And also when you have such impactful system with sharp weapons, please let the NPC receive some visual damage outside of when you hit the arm or head (which triggers dismemberment in not very believable way). Have some blood textures streaking across the body - like Jedi Outcast managed over 20 years ago... come on.
The must stunning and beautiful game I've ever played. No game has ever immersed me graphically like this game. Of course they still have a lot to go until its finished but its just beautiful game.
