Fat Chicken is a REVERSE TOWER DEFENSE game where you fatten up farm animals for slaughter by pumping them full of hormones, overfeeding them and basting them with antibiotics to keep them alive so they're worth more when you turn 'em into tasty, tasty packaged meat...it's what's for dinner!

This fake reverse tower defense game for a start confuses the conventional meaning of reverse tower defense. It's merely yet another tower defense game with fixed placement spots and fixed paths. The only difference is that you 'heal' units by shooting them, instead of destroying them, but functionally this doesn't affect gameplay. In addition to that, it commits sins like one-time boost power-ups ("if you want to three-star this level, better spend your persistent money on a creep duplication powerup!"). Then we have UX issues, like insufficient clarity in communication when new paths become active. There are basically no interface settings (like permanent display of health bars, so to see those you have to hold down the mouse button on a button/path); there also are no separate water or food bars, etc. It's neither challenging nor otherwise remarkable. If you want to playfully indoctrinate your children with your particular view on industrial meat processing, this might be a jolly tool for that purpose. Otherwise, there is no reason to play this game instead of the countless other, often free offerings of the tower defense genre. For an example of an actual reverse tower defense game, Google will swiftly find you things like http://www.kongregate.com/games/rete/villainous , while Steam offers the Anomaly series.
Fat Chicken is a quirky twist on the tower defense genre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JREzNJITNJc Instead of killing and defending hordes of monsters or aliens your fattining up live stock before they reach the slaughter house. This game has a lot of charm and I found myself smiling as my animals got fatter. I also found the game a bit more challenging than your standard TD becuase in standard TD games you don't have to think about watering monsters or aliens :) This added level of resource mangement will keep you on your toes. Now anyone that's played a TD game will tell you that on your first level you're guaranteed 3 stars! ...well i only manage 2! which goes to show how important resource management is in this game. A clever, fun, stimulating and funny game. - Recommended!
NOPE.
Fat Chicken is exactly what I expected going into it: a cutesy, fairly easy TD game with a slightly unique concept. Despite the fact that you're fattening up animals instead of killing them, it plays almost exactly like any other TD game on the market. Here are my main criticisms of this game: - Really easy and shallow. Most tower placements are no-brainers and the game never puts up much of a fight, even though the final mission initially seems impossible. Getting three stars on every level isn't hard at all. - Too short. After the main campaign, there aren't any "bonus" levels, or ideally, way harder versions of all the existing levels. When I finished, I wanted more. - Occasional bugs, such as security guards failing to chase away protestors and a MurderBux counter that stops updating (both of these happened in the final stage by the way.) However, I'm extremely forgiving about this kind of thing and considering the size of the developer and how recently it came to Steam, the level of bugs is actually impressively low. Despite that, I enjoyed Fat Chicken. I'm a sucker for cutesy stuff like this and the music is actually kinda catchy. I'd recommend this game to casual players specifically, as hardcore players like myself will ironically be hungry for more after completing the campaign.
Bad recommendation but still a fun game to play if you favor tower defense games like me. Overal score i would give the game a 6.0,,, just enough to keep playing, but for "tower feed frenzy" fans, its a nice change of style cons: - you can mute sfx and music, but the animals oink and mooh, and my guns keep making a lot of peew peew peew. had to manually disable the game's sound thru windows. - interface, speed up button; options are -5x, 1x, 2x and 4x, the fact you have to click a lot of times to keep switching from low speed to high speed consumes a lot of time, while the wave keeps on moving. - keymapping; you do not have this luxury - not much of a challenge to the game,,, havent played it much yet,, about 2 hours and already gotten pretty far without much effort. pros: - VERY GOOD MUSIC, it sets a good mood, and u DO have the option to select the song you like to listen to, in cases for when you do not mute the game like i did. - very nice concept, this time you do not have to worry about killing the waves, but nurture them and prevent them from dehydration, starvation and poisoning (which you do by pumping them full with growth hormones) - also like the concept of being able to overfeed the chickens and starve your pigs and cows at the same time - lots of toys to work with and i do not mean towers. i mean your hired hands, upgrade system and hero support; also they provide bonus "items" in a shop, for ingame use, like extra starting funds.
Tower defense is as tower defense does. A cute appearance masks the dark undertones that replaces weapons with stations to force feed livestock. There's a social commentary buried that toys with lives in a cold, capitalist world. Still, challenges of puzzling buildings on an assembly line stay mostly the same, which drops the freshness of this product considerably. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00KmdBUov5o Read the full review: http://www.noobfeed.com/reviews/1110/fat-chicken
We were pleasantly surprised at how much fun AND challenging Fat Chicken actually is. The developers did a great job allowing the player to select from multiple Powers and Upgrades. Of course, you’ve got to earn your way in order to afford them and that might be a fun challenge as well. The game gets you thinking strategically as far as where to place your towers and human helpers as well as how much to feed or not to feed, use growth hormones, or not – you basically have to learn your way around the game in order to make sure that your livestock does not perish before they hit the factory. We found ourselves playing each level several times in order to gain all three stars and even on Easy level setting, it was not that easy. You also get a cast of Heroes to select, each one costing a bit of change, but once you earn them – your life might get a little bit easier. In addition, the tutorial/hint snippets are highly useful so make sure to pay attention. Expect to spend extra time going through all of the stages, but be forewarned – the game is highly addictive!
I love shooting up the chickens and fattening them up. 30 lb chickens! This game is very addicting and fun to play. The dialogue is lighthearted and brings up interesting points of views from both sides regarding GMO meat. I would definitely give the game a shot :)
